  1. If I mention this to the wife we'll probably head down too, visit our friends and join the party.I'll keep my eye on this post. Good luck.
  2. I'd say those states and VT,CT,and New England in general. Upstate NY is a little redneck, more Ford Broncos and Chevy Blazers..... Eric, you're in a real lame part of NY,hate to tell you. There's a lot more Subarus down this way where more open minded people live. I said this recently in another post, something to the effect that this last decade or so people have had more choices in 4WD so the average yuppie scum has gone from Subarus to Navigators,etc.....have you noticed all the Mercedes...probably not, because your in a lame rump roast area, sorry bud. Stop down here on a weekend.I'll show you the real deal. But I will admit, there's just not the same numbers since the late 80's Subarus ruled the roads. At the same time they began rotting off the roads the influx of copy cat-bigger name label cars came into play. Not making excuses, not comparing just stating some facts.Folks out your way can keep their Subarus longer and generally need to,like in VT,WV,PA,etc.....an average NY/NJ/CT resident feels they need to get a new car every 8 years or less. Some folks much less than 8 years. Eric, how many old cars do you see at all up there?Probably not many unless you're at a drive in on show night.Rust....the deciding factor. Dude, let's get together.I know I have your number here, but if you don't mind, make it easy on me and send it again. If you can make it down on the weekend it'll be a blast. Are you guys working the weekends or what?
  3. Total sickness Saturday.Stop by anytime I should be there all day. 230 Woodmont Rd. Milford,CT Exit 40 either direction. From north take left, under highway,go straight through intersection, just after the Dunkin Donuts, turn into the small industrial park. You'll find me. From South take left at end of exit,go to intersection and go right.Just after the Drunkin Dognuts..... Could use help with several projects.Or stop by and hang out.All welcome,no skills required.
  4. We've got friends in Frederick.Non-Subaru owners but real good folks.Have a good time.If you need a band he plays in the Acme Blues Movers-great party tunes-rockin' blues, and general cool tunes.
  5. On the shore in Bridgeport...... There's a guy-Brad-a.k.a. "bythesea" who's in Belchertown and on the Cape in P-town during the season. A few others in VT,MA,CT,RI,ME,eastern NY.....have fun, email if needed. Paul
  6. Thanks guys.Yes,I'd love to do another meet/grab 'n go deal but I think last year was the peak for interest for this area-for the old stuff I mean. I'd like to be out of there by the months end but I expect to have to pay for July.I think I have to give them a full month notice....anyhow,a huge blow out would be cool but I kind of need to organize before the herd tramples the garden. I'm not tossing in the towel, you gotta know that, but I will be significantly reducing the amount of B/S I'll be keeping from now on.Our place(the workshop) is also home for all our camping stuff, recreational stuff, kids stuff, out of season clothes, furniture we just can't use right now,compressors,ladders,tools,etc.....so I'd like to get most of that stuff more consolidated and ready to ROLL. same for the Subaru stuff.
  7. I'll be parting out an '84 wagon if that regulator helps.Damn! I hope you got some use out of it.I made sure it worked well enough here before I took it out of the door. Let me know if I can help.
  8. Didn't I send you one?Is this THAT one?If so I'm damn sorry about that... Those aren't too hard to do.At least they've gone well for me.I changes one on an '82 4WD wagon and it took about 15 minutes, glass and all. In your case you my need to reach up and get those 10mm bolts.Or,you might be able to disconnect the regulator and the frame should drop down....I think. I'd get any bolts you can off and see if it'll drop down. There's only like 3 bolts on the frame and I thin 4 on the regulator. Then there's the position holders,I think 2 or 3 of those at the top of the door. Good luck, hope it works out and please let me know if that's the one I sent you.
  9. Some ideas: "Well,my grandmother had one just like this and she used to bring us to go get ice cream in it..........I'd just like to get one if I can find one free, just to show her. It'd make her so happy." "I'd really like one of these but I can't afford to pay much of anything because I know these cars always need axles and exhausts, etc. My (dad/mom/whoever) had one and it was great but it needed all sorts of stuff to keep it running." And there's always..."You need that thing gone or what buddy?"But that's an east coast thing, might not work out there. Good luck G-man
  10. Galen,I see your post now.LOL Same as Corky, ask them if they would let it go to someone who really wants to get it back on the road. There's plenty of good reasons why they should just let it go. $50 tops if you get a little weak in the knees.
  11. Thanks for the info!! Mine look to be decent size also.I might give the project to another Subaru old timer I know if he'll barter with me.I just don't have the time lately but this post has got me anxious. I think it demands that I show up at a drive in car show-off night with the hood off when it's done.
  12. Legacys are listed as of '89 here too Caleb, but I never see them.
  13. Aparently not.I recently got my D/C set up and my guess was if the intake stays the same there's probably no need for a different head. It's just a question of more flow.I don't think there's a need to change compression or valve timing. All just opinion here.I asked my local guru with over 25 years as a Subaru tech, and he feels it's a bolt on upgrade and does not require different heads/or compression. He's only seen one and it was over 20 years ago. They are very hard to find,as you know, but especially hard to find up here. The west coast has way more JDM parts floating around from the late 70's/early 80's. I'll be putting mine of later in the summer. If you do your first please keep in touch.
  14. Bump possibly getting an '84(?) wagon to be parted out tonight or over the weekend. Supposed to rain Saturday,we'll see.Call or email, stop by if you can....
  15. You tell 'em Shawn....I mean Mr.President,sir.
  16. i've got almost everything you need if you want to go for it. I parted an '83 GL-10 sedan and have everything from the engine compartment.i might not have the crossmember, but the rest is there. You can have it all for $30 plus shipping.Email me if interested.
  17. Factory Service Manuals on eBay,even better-can be found for under $10.You'll want the edition printed October 1978 for your Brat, but having the April '78 or '79 won't hurt in they show up cheap, and sooner than the Oct. '78 edit. Like Shawn said.....Also check the cables especially the grounds to the engine and body.Vacuum out the voltage regulator gently-it's on the passenger side near the battery/coil.Spray the alternator with some contact cleaner. I say do the best you can with the carb and gas.Spray some ether in there, don't pump the pedal, and see how it turns. If it doesn't kick over pump the pedal twice-hold off on the ether, and turn the key again. I haven't heard people mention Seafoam lately but some folks used to say that was THE stuff to use for cleaning the old carbs out.MMO works too. Where are you located? Main thing is keep the body clean underside and remove the bottom bolts of the fenders and clean out the crap that builds up in there.Gas tank filler tube area is usually a catch spot for dirt/rust too.Rear skirt-under the rear bumper-check that too. Brakes will need some attention,Wheel cylinders are cheap on eBay or even at some stores still.Rotors also on eBay. Might want to spray some PBblaster on the spark plugs beforehand and remove them, check the condition,clean-or replace.Remove the distributor cap and clean up the contacts with a light sandpaper-like 220-400 grit. These are true workhorses-the 1600 Brats.I say cherish it-or let me know when you want to sell it.
  18. Note:THe revised 1400 at the end of the run had the familiar exhaust we know and love today. Those "C" pipes have got to be tough to come by.I know here you don't need emissions testing for cars that old so you could do whatever you wanted below the noise ordinance.
  19. We could always do a run up there and just seek out power lines and ask the locals with lifted Chevy's,etc. It's so nice up there.I think Hooterville is up there somewhere so maybe we'll run into Eb or Mr.Kimball, maybe hit Sam Drucker's store for a pop. If we don't come up with something solid I'm driving up anyways. No way is Eric coming all this way and not getting to hang with the east coast Subakind. It'd be great if you guys (Eric's crew) could come down to the city for a weekend too.Bring bail money! One way or the other I'll be seeing the Zap man.
  20. You know I'm holding some brown stage I interior stuff.....and there's 3 '74's in a yard near me.The guy is a wongleflute but I'll work on him if I can stop by soon.
  21. Saw your call last night but I got tired fast.Too much fun during the day with the kids. I'll call later. BTW,I also confused things.I have a good rear glass seal right now,it's my front windshield that'll need a new gasket. The database is a great idea.I've heard that some guy has a Vintage Subaru website......
