  1. Thanks guys.Yes,I'd love to do another meet/grab 'n go deal but I think last year was the peak for interest for this area-for the old stuff I mean. I'd like to be out of there by the months end but I expect to have to pay for July.I think I have to give them a full month notice....anyhow,a huge blow out would be cool but I kind of need to organize before the herd tramples the garden. I'm not tossing in the towel, you gotta know that, but I will be significantly reducing the amount of B/S I'll be keeping from now on.Our place(the workshop) is also home for all our camping stuff, recreational stuff, kids stuff, out of season clothes, furniture we just can't use right now,compressors,ladders,tools,etc.....so I'd like to get most of that stuff more consolidated and ready to ROLL. same for the Subaru stuff.
  2. I'll be parting out an '84 wagon if that regulator helps.Damn! I hope you got some use out of it.I made sure it worked well enough here before I took it out of the door. Let me know if I can help.
  3. Didn't I send you one?Is this THAT one?If so I'm damn sorry about that... Those aren't too hard to do.At least they've gone well for me.I changes one on an '82 4WD wagon and it took about 15 minutes, glass and all. In your case you my need to reach up and get those 10mm bolts.Or,you might be able to disconnect the regulator and the frame should drop down....I think. I'd get any bolts you can off and see if it'll drop down. There's only like 3 bolts on the frame and I thin 4 on the regulator. Then there's the position holders,I think 2 or 3 of those at the top of the door. Good luck, hope it works out and please let me know if that's the one I sent you.
  4. Some ideas: "Well,my grandmother had one just like this and she used to bring us to go get ice cream in it..........I'd just like to get one if I can find one free, just to show her. It'd make her so happy." "I'd really like one of these but I can't afford to pay much of anything because I know these cars always need axles and exhausts, etc. My (dad/mom/whoever) had one and it was great but it needed all sorts of stuff to keep it running." And there's always..."You need that thing gone or what buddy?"But that's an east coast thing, might not work out there. Good luck G-man
  5. Galen,I see your post now.LOL Same as Corky, ask them if they would let it go to someone who really wants to get it back on the road. There's plenty of good reasons why they should just let it go. $50 tops if you get a little weak in the knees.
  6. Thanks for the info!! Mine look to be decent size also.I might give the project to another Subaru old timer I know if he'll barter with me.I just don't have the time lately but this post has got me anxious. I think it demands that I show up at a drive in car show-off night with the hood off when it's done.
  7. Legacys are listed as of '89 here too Caleb, but I never see them.
  8. Aparently not.I recently got my D/C set up and my guess was if the intake stays the same there's probably no need for a different head. It's just a question of more flow.I don't think there's a need to change compression or valve timing. All just opinion here.I asked my local guru with over 25 years as a Subaru tech, and he feels it's a bolt on upgrade and does not require different heads/or compression. He's only seen one and it was over 20 years ago. They are very hard to find,as you know, but especially hard to find up here. The west coast has way more JDM parts floating around from the late 70's/early 80's. I'll be putting mine of later in the summer. If you do your first please keep in touch.
  9. Bump possibly getting an '84(?) wagon to be parted out tonight or over the weekend. Supposed to rain Saturday,we'll see.Call or email, stop by if you can....
  10. You tell 'em Shawn....I mean Mr.President,sir.
  11. i've got almost everything you need if you want to go for it. I parted an '83 GL-10 sedan and have everything from the engine compartment.i might not have the crossmember, but the rest is there. You can have it all for $30 plus shipping.Email me if interested.
  12. Factory Service Manuals on eBay,even better-can be found for under $10.You'll want the edition printed October 1978 for your Brat, but having the April '78 or '79 won't hurt in they show up cheap, and sooner than the Oct. '78 edit. Like Shawn said.....Also check the cables especially the grounds to the engine and body.Vacuum out the voltage regulator gently-it's on the passenger side near the battery/coil.Spray the alternator with some contact cleaner. I say do the best you can with the carb and gas.Spray some ether in there, don't pump the pedal, and see how it turns. If it doesn't kick over pump the pedal twice-hold off on the ether, and turn the key again. I haven't heard people mention Seafoam lately but some folks used to say that was THE stuff to use for cleaning the old carbs out.MMO works too. Where are you located? Main thing is keep the body clean underside and remove the bottom bolts of the fenders and clean out the crap that builds up in there.Gas tank filler tube area is usually a catch spot for dirt/rust too.Rear skirt-under the rear bumper-check that too. Brakes will need some attention,Wheel cylinders are cheap on eBay or even at some stores still.Rotors also on eBay. Might want to spray some PBblaster on the spark plugs beforehand and remove them, check the condition,clean-or replace.Remove the distributor cap and clean up the contacts with a light sandpaper-like 220-400 grit. These are true workhorses-the 1600 Brats.I say cherish it-or let me know when you want to sell it.
  13. Note:THe revised 1400 at the end of the run had the familiar exhaust we know and love today. Those "C" pipes have got to be tough to come by.I know here you don't need emissions testing for cars that old so you could do whatever you wanted below the noise ordinance.
  14. We could always do a run up there and just seek out power lines and ask the locals with lifted Chevy's,etc. It's so nice up there.I think Hooterville is up there somewhere so maybe we'll run into Eb or Mr.Kimball, maybe hit Sam Drucker's store for a pop. If we don't come up with something solid I'm driving up anyways. No way is Eric coming all this way and not getting to hang with the east coast Subakind. It'd be great if you guys (Eric's crew) could come down to the city for a weekend too.Bring bail money! One way or the other I'll be seeing the Zap man.
  15. You know I'm holding some brown stage I interior stuff.....and there's 3 '74's in a yard near me.The guy is a wongleflute but I'll work on him if I can stop by soon.
  16. Saw your call last night but I got tired fast.Too much fun during the day with the kids. I'll call later. BTW,I also confused things.I have a good rear glass seal right now,it's my front windshield that'll need a new gasket. The database is a great idea.I've heard that some guy has a Vintage Subaru website......
  17. Big week guys.I'll be concentrating on my bathroom and getting my place ready to sell but..... ahh,the nightime....you know it's the right time.......for goin' nuts in the cool air,tunes,beverages....feelin' like you can work all night and not break a sweat. Anyone willing to stop by in the evening any night, please contact me so I can be there when it's best for you.For now it needs to be a dry weather night because I need to open the garage door and bring stuff out to get a good star Mostly need to sort stuff-keep 'n toss-then label the box.Easy, and it'll go fast trust me.I work, have fun, break balls if we know each other well enough, and try to make work like this go quick. As goodies are sorted you're welcome to first whack at most of the items. I'll be crankin' a good 18 hours of work/parenting duties a day for the next week at least.More coffee, less everything else this week. But you're welcome to bring beer if you'd like.Typical evening hours for me are somewhere within 8PM and midnight-1AM,sometimes insanity sets in full throttle and I lean into the daybreak but I wouldn't do that with company unless they were begging for the punishment. You're welcome to stop by anytime after 8PM and go as you need to.Any help appreciated. Alway make contact before please.Sometimes 8PM turns into 9-9:30,etc...
  18. .....second,THANK YOU!! My wagon showe up at a national car event with a patch on the lower passenger side, covering the ever so slight leaky spot. You'd never know the leak hole was so small. The water coming into the car was way more than you'd expect from such a small hole. Todd, you completely rule for stepping out often and finding exactly what works and what doesn't.Thanks again for being such a great friend and fellow vintage "Subathusiast". Call me sometime and tell me about the removal-installation process. Cheers!
  19. Good goin mate! I've had the same ideas for some time now.Was going to do it to my Brat/Brumby....I'd like lower profile drawers though. That way I could still fit some larger items on top and have the rear seats help box them in.You're is very nice just like it is.With all the free material that comes my way I could probably build both tall and low.Since I have at least 2 wagons they'll always have a home. A pull out that has a leg would be nice too.Basically a workbench/cutting surface, that when you pull it out the leg falls and supports the outer edge. We wood crafters would appreciate this.Quick set-up.Pull up,set up the miter saw,and start working......
  20. Guys,it'd be great to combine interests and go meet Eric Zap while he's here. Anybody have any spots to tromp on in upstate NY? Boneyards??? Utica is right between Syracuse and Albany....beer country!
  21. Anywhere from $150 to $600 or so. Mileage? Exhaust leaks? etc.....they'll determine the value. Funny, but the only sedans I've gotten were either free or under $150-some in excellent shape.Coupes and wagons are typically worth a little more for fun and function value. I've got some outstanding blue interior parts, and tons more for a Stage II sedan-late '77 to '79.It would all fit,and be an upgrade for your sedan.I'd practically give you the rear seat-which is near perfect.Cover shipping,of course. Let me know when you score it.
