  1. ....ahhhh I don't know about *that*.Maybe a solid $1800-2300 tops, only because there's just not much interest in it.The kids want a WRX or STi and the folks willing to spend a fair amount on an XT are few and far between. Saw a black Turbo XT today.Definitely stood out on the road. Was being driven into the ground but still looked like fun.
  2. My brother used a kit from NAPA and he's doing fine with it after about 12K miles so far.The kit has T-belt,cam seals and O rings, and the tensioner pulleys. Can't remember the price.
  3. OK Which one of you will chop some sections off that sucker if you're going to canibalize it? What's left that's not spoken for already?
  4. Thinking the 1st yr. of EA81 was 1979 in USA and last I guess is 1989 in the Hatch but I've only seen up to '87 here.Still have yet to come across an '88 or '89 EA81 car in CT. EA82 started in 1985.I assume they ran untill the end of the Loyale which I guess is '94.Don't see many '93 or '94 Loyales here either. Vac pump I have no idea of begining and ending dates.
  5. Ed's a great guy.Sent me the EGR switch before payment.I looked quick but couldn't find his address. Free bump to the top.
  6. I don't have one but someone I know does.GLF! I just had one and sold it to WagonsOnly. Is that really it's own size? Can't use another coupe or hardtop? Well,if you want to take a ski road trip now's the time.Pretty sure you can score the windshield within your price range. Oh BB,Wendy and the Soul Shakers.http://www.geocities.com/imjames69/WendyRich.html Good quick read for info/pics:http://artists.iuma.com/IUMA/Bands/Wendy_Rich/ Fronted Janis Joplin's former band-Big Brother and the Holding Company.STRONG voice, great blues singer and she rocks.A Tampa St.Pete favorite for a while. That's Tunstall's off of 19.Worth a stop in.Good luck riding that area.I know it's a little hairy in that traffic. No contamporary bikes at the moment.Just a couple old Ducatis and a Sears(Puch) for the wife. Cheers!
  7. Good luck to him.Tough finding the right words to say.Best to the family.Let's hope he brings lots of light and laughter back to the household.
  8. St.Pete. FL eh? Love that area, especially out over the causeway-Clearwater Beach....welcome and good luck with the Brat. Is Wendy Rich still playing clubs down there?Wendy and the Soul Shakers-or so it was back in the 90's.My friend was helping her with photography for here CD's/Promo's. And Syd Tunstall's Ducati-and other sweet bikes-motorcycle shop? Some of the nicest people in the industry. One of the coolest places to walk into in you love European motorcycles and race bikes in general.
  9. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome to the club! My '78 is exempt too,yeehaa...and I was lucky enough to take advantage of CT's bungling DOT policies and my '78 never even needed safety inspection.I'm quite sure it'd pass emmisions no problem. But you never know what kind of weasel you get at a safety inspection. They can make your day go bad in a minute.
  10. I couldn't agree more! Make mine a dual range 5spd please.I own an '89 SPFI with d/r and an '87 Turbo wagon.I prefer the '89 for reliability in snow and off road. The Turbo is nice for the power though. It's the single range 4wd that I'm not so crazy about.
  11. Yeah,I've seen what you guys call rust and most of us here laugh for hours, then cry later.....I might be able to score those racks for a lot cheaper than a re-chrome.Todd just told me about his "blackout" rack.Cheaper than chrome also. OK We'll talk soon. Are you ready for some football????
  12. Some of the 70's cars have very similar belt housings. And the reciever ends are even more similar, almost the same part it seems. Good luck, let us know what happens if you try some on your Brat.
  13. Todd and I are interested as well as the other 70's owners I'm sure. Not to bust stones but you said nothing rusts here.....guess the rack didn't listen to that.At least your cars stay reasonably healthy.Up here I'd truely appreciate a rust free body. Those racks were made right here in CT for Subaru.I'm hoping to find a stash of them someday.I've got someone who knows some of the old mfg.'s personel and hopefully we'll find out if new ones still exist somewhere. My '78 was rustproofed so it's one of a very very very few that survived.Wagon78 has his up here too but it was originally from a more drier climate, not the west, but not the salty New England area either. I need a few things for my '78 too.I'll be in touch soon.
  14. I want a full report on the Skipper's bountiful land of vehicles upon returning, please.LOL
  15. When I had two '75's side by side I could plainly see that the underbodies are a little different. All due to the 4WD. I still think it can be done.Infact,if I get this '75 coupe I'm going to make the attempt.Probably use an SPFI EA82 if I can wedge it in there. The R and D will be fun I'm sure.THose coupes have such a flat bottom.Probably just weld a subframe in like the Gen II Brat lift that Bruce from Maine has(zrBrat, used to be on the old board). Please post, whoever does the deed first.Miles, you done this yet?
  16. Currently finding rotted fuel pumps in SPFI cars out east here. You guys are a little less humid/less rust I assume. There's plenty more to check but that stands out lately. My '87-89 cars have been great.SPFI is simple and efficient enough. Good luck with it.
  17. Skippppppppeerrrrrrrr! If you sse this bud,did you shave that thang for me....uhhh, the flywheel that is?
  18. Will do Johnny.... Witte has a 6cyl wagon that was once an EA82.It's an ongoing project that he left at his old residence.Hopefully I get him his 5 lug stuff before the car gets to his new crib.
  19. Cold keeps me moving more.No heat....heat bad...chemical heat very bad, used them for hunting....paying for heat for a space that is mostly used as storage is bad......it's a 16' x 40' or so space with 12' ceiling and drafty overhead door.A space heater would take my money and laugh at me.Only time that worked was when I had the band practicing up front and I used plastic/tarps and made an enclosed space that somewhat held heat. That and beer made it bearable. These months are the worst.By the middle of March it'll all be over. Stopped up there tonight.Inside temp was about 38 degrees F. I think my beer that I grabbed was warmer than the room.
  20. SPFI Turbo? Did I miss something here? Great Brat, great project. And let's all give Miles a round of applause too kids.....
  21. LMAO,you kids up there are too damn much. Y'know,I've got a plow..... Gotta get that thing installed on something before the season is over.I just want to see if I can deal with it on a daily basis and also see if I can make some dough. And so people can laugh at my car.
  22. Indeed, very nice work.I'd love to have that ride here in snotty Fairfield county,CT.All your rides sound outstanding. I'm all for this idea.Heck,I've dreamed about this sort of thing plenty of times.I like what Jason has to say. My thoughts, not sure of any of this working perfectly: EA71 or EA81 w/SPFI and D/R 5spd,cut axles, rear disks. I'm sure you'll have something to show soon. As for finding one and having your way with it,so to say,I'm all for it.But if you waste a perfectly good example of say a '75 4WD wagon that could be restored then I'd disagree.Good luck.Personally I want to see a '72-5 coupe lifted and 4WD.Could make the Hatch Patrol nervous and scared,LOL
  23. So,I'm wrapping up the day, putting away tools with one guy and the other guy I work for lately calls.Naturally he needs me to help him tonight for a couple of hours, tomorrow(Todd's Day ) and Saturday.I can't pass up work so I'll be messing with Todd's tranny tonight in my workshop with no heat.Thankfully I've got a little liquid body warmer there. This is a perfect example of my life.I can't wait to get back into a normal routine-40 hours-life after work, that sort of blessed monotony. Thanks everybody for your understanding.Onward!
  24. '75 is the first year of 4WD.To find one and ruin it would absolutely keep you off my Christmas card list.....but I'd still like to see what you do to it.The wagon is the only 4WD available up to the Brat. There's a difference in the unibody from a 2wd and 4wd wagon.I've had them side by side('75's) and they are different but you can probably make a conversion with a little effort.I have a complete '75 4WD drivetrain with suspension, not pretty but functional that you can have for a song.Long distance between us though. Feel free to email about 70's cars, parts, info, etc.
  25. Gabe,if you see this, send my pumps or at least one to this guy,He needs it more than I do. Feel free to write him and point him to this post if needed.
