I’m going to add to that in the comments. Just found a carb kit.

If I could manage pictures I’d be adding them right now. I have the factory parts manual/catalog and I am looking the carb over.

Is this the FPCU? (Fuel Pump Control Unit)
moosens replied to NuclearDeLorean's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
They aren’t too hard to get and for years I could never understand why more people refused to bother who so obviously would have benefited. And the younger gen argument against paper vs electronic. Phooey !! We probably have the exact same issue. I have an 80-81 combo too. Not bragging but just to show proof. I have pretty much all of them from the 1969 or so 360 thru the 70-71 ff1 , and the beginning of the “Leone” era , thru both stages , and into the 80’s. They’ve helped me. I could care less what someone else thinks of them. You’ll see me selling off my later issues. And eventually my older ones too after I sell my parts off. Ok back to work. -
And look for and/or feel for the countersink in the axle and drive the pin out in that direction and re-insert it into that same countersink. It’s easier when you don’t fight tapers. Yes , that’s happened to this old man back when , where the punch was too thin but not such a disaster as I didn’t drive it hard and was able to yank it out after only minimal cussing. So naturally I have proper size punches in my box now. Enjoy !

As far as I know there can be found online both the factory service manuals and the parts manuals which are also called catalogs. They’ll help a lot. -
I’m curious how you set the limits. When I do motorized shades I do that either on the unit itself at the motor while toggling the step motor or remotely if that applies. So where would you be able to set limits from ? Thanks for the education. I’ll likely have a 2017 or one from that era .... oh maybe in a few years. For now I stick with the old school. Too much electronics these days.

Fuji rabbit scooter
moosens replied to Russelwiscosin's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
A few enthusiasts here but you’d sadly reach more people elsewhere. Theres a few face book groups and also the obvious auction sites. Let’s hope there’s still some rabbit folks here. I’ll alert my local guy. Good luck and thanks for offering it up here. -
clutch cable keeps seizing/snapping
moosens replied to Geluso's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Maybe as classic cars move forward someone will be selling some serious DIY cable making kits like motorcycle owners have had to do. Maybe they exist already for cars and trucks ? So my clutch cables just went up in price , cool. Routing is key. Making sure your pedal box isn’t cracked is another. Older 70’s first gen you want that support spring hanging it too. It all helps and all belongs there and in their respective places. -
Funny results with search. Besides you love the conversation. First gen Legacys 90-94 , I know of a now rare in this area , parts car. My thought was to snag just the clutch as it was looking fairly decent compared to the three vehicles we have. And my wife’s car really needs an A/C overhaul including either a new unit or clutch. That will be going to one of our kids very soon too so I’d like this car to eventually have a fine functioning system once again. So , pardon my asking and not searching or trekking out for my service manual - which may or may not have A/C. What’s the deal with those again ? I did a quick you tube search and watched a guy do his mustang ... but this is where happiness lies for me. Thanks my brothers n sisters. Cheers! FYI , I’m just not into buying a new clutch or throwing any much money at these cars. I’m waiting on my 2003 so I’m leaving 90-94 partially , then the wife will soon have something much more new. And the kids can have the remainders or I’ll part them out or offer them.

Now you’re talkin ! Cheapie wall fart deal worked for me on an older model but placement same. Got rain gutters ? Nothing does anymore but I have some totally witchin Thule racks you can make use of if you stop by Milford tomorrow. Pretty sure the cheapie wall fart rack is there too which would not require rain gutters or “making it work” methods. It’s cheap yet safe all around.

GUYS N GALS PLEASE EXCUSE THE CAPS AND THE FACT THAT IT SURE LOOKS LIKE I HAVE MY LOT SOLD. THANKS EVERYBODY. I’ll still be involved , still retain a few essentials for a potential car down the line , but I’m not keeping much and I’m NOT going to be selling parts. Not 1970’s anyways. Enjoy your summer northern hemisphere !! Tons of 1970’s New old stock and great used parts. Most of you have seen this before. I was hoping I had a sale on my posted lot earlier this year but it has not happened. Milford CT if you can drive on over you’ll leave here happy if you own a 1972-79 Leone GL DL GL1400 Coupe , or gen one Brat. For the new people - the old folks have seen this all too much - I have a LOT of New Old Stock that’s genuine Subaru parts. Call it OEM or NOS or whatever you’d like. It’s real and here for you through my efforts. Any used parts were saved because they were plenty fine and had life left. Some of the items you are welcome to purchase and also you are welcome to make a deal on a large lot. Get here , we’ll pull stuff outside , and make a deal. ATK crate engine rebuild for dealers and shop. Ready to start a fresh life. Widecase last revision of the 1600 EA71 so it applies to 79+ but is also able to drop in for earlier 1977 1978 and 1979 narrow case (external water). This engine is INTERNAL WATER like it’s later EA81 cousin. Zero miles. Longblock ready for your intake. Looking for $750 Ken has dibs on this one but in case he changes his mind or in case you have a fatter wallet - shortblock EA71 1600 was done for an ultralight flyer guy. He and I did an exchange. Bored .040 over and I’m sure trustworthy as he was going to fly with it. He’s got it locked at $300 And a complete 1600 EA71 early version with external water , I pulled this engine and it’s a 94k or thereabouts engine. Complete with intake and carb. Probably just drop in and go but I’d be smart and give it a good tune up etc , seals , valve rocker cover gaskets , that sort of stuff. $450 takes it. Place that money in my hand and I’ll gladly include what I can for new seals and gaskets. In fact I have a partial full kit I’d happily include for peace of mind. So you’d have a non leaker for sure when you plugged it in. Fenders , a mix of New and old. And both stages. 1972-77 stage one and stage two 1977 through 79 and 81 for Brat. $125-250 Front valance (lower skirt) for 4WD wagon and BRAT - new $200 , used $75 - 100 Glass - just about every one you can think of. Also have front windshields. $30 and up , that’s not $30 per piece. There is a rare Coupe windshield there. $$ All sorts of parts like exhaust , wheels , lights , switches , gasket kits , brake kits , so much it’s like the title says. I’m tired kids. And rent went up so my prices aren’t going lower. As was mentioned first off , and for over a year now , get here first and make the best deal if you’re wanting to buy a large lot. Jason from NC made the drive. It’s your turn now. Weather is best now. Won’t be for long though. Read the top. Edited memorial weekend 2021 Sale of lot. This thread will be dead.

second generation Brat Shock absorber
moosens replied to Marc556's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Those are my local guys. The older guys there are fantastic. They’ve ordered from west coast distributors for me before and I walk in. The younger guys , aaagggh , not so great. But to see those , hmmm , makes me wonder. I mean sure I trust those guys , but I also know for sure they’ve purged their shelves of those parts LONG ago so this set has likely been purchased by SOA more recently given those parts tags. Just saying’ ... they sure look good. But causes me to wonder. GD says no longer available yet this set has very new tags on it. Perhaps dealers or the distributors are allowed to shop suppliers for elder car parts and just use SOA strictly for what SOA expects them to stock ? I’d bet my left one that SOA doesn’t want them wasting theirs shelf space on parts for anything over 15-20 years max up here in the rust belt. All very interesting. -
Saw horses and plywood. Getting old here , can tell ya you’ve got to start thinking like you are now. Aches n pains have to be minimized.

If you post the KYB numbers and any others like Monroe or Gabriel I might be able to match up a set for you. No promises!!! But I do have some shocks and struts I’m cleaning house of. Most all are KYB only one or two of other brands. Good luck. -
Story of the day .... Cleansing my workshop of 80’s parts I sold an EA81 to a guy who drove from western Illinois to Connecticut. It was supposed to be my extremely low mile engine. At that time I was completely dipped in this Subaru - fix em and run em - sort of lifestyle. I had I think 8 or 9 EA81’s. Somehow I sold him the wrong one. He was going to use this for ultralight fun and flying over his cornfields which he said was all you could see , he was deep into the rural zone. So I offered him ALL of my EA1’s including the correct engine. He and his son drove back and got them all. They had a water pump issue , and changed that in their Dodge van , then headed back to the land of Lincoln. ( hope I got that right ). That my friend is EA81 dedication !! Best of luck with it! Enjoy !

I did somewhere have a picture of Both with the standard against the Coupe and you can clearly see the upper “ears” are a bit pronounced on the Coupe. Will try to find that pic soon. Story - and a true one - Danny W from this board “dannybreadman” had purchased not just dealer stock that some of us have managed to find , but the Mid-Atlantic regional distribution center’s old stock !!! He sat on it and then passed it along to a guy also from here I think he was djcommie or something like that. He’s in Michigan I think , or up that way and lays low , real low. I would bet my left one that he’s holding plenty of glass. I know Danny and I communicated a lot and pretty positive he mentioned crates of glass including front windshields. I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting to see if this guy is going to cut stuff loose. There’s at least two used ones in my stash. And a load of other glass too. Good luck with these. Not excited about crating glass myself but I think I’ll be doing that soon. Folks are going to have to cover my time and materials , so a $150 item will be like $250 plus shipping , but we’ll see.
