Sorry to sidetrack for Preston but I’m pretty sure Todd - Subaru3 did add here somewhere that he was able to use a standard gasket for a Coupe by carefully stretching and maybe had one minor relief cut , but not sure on that. Coupe gaskets are just about impossible to find. If one shows up you know what to do. Nice thread of glass. That new unit is tempting. I also have a huge amount of glass but to have that new unit for a future resto , hmmmm.

Pardon my ignorance and lack of having my two cars to review. My soon to be daily driver 2003 Legacy wagon which I think is an L or an LS model is with Subafreak upstate. Same for the parts car 2003 GT sedan. At this moment the great one , Subafreak isn’t too sure and I’d rather bother you guys than bother him. But are those calipers the same ? And yeah just because he isn’t sure doesn’t mean he isn’t the great one. Lol

Wish you were closer. My dog is a rabbit chaser and needs the action. good luck out there man !

You’re worrying too much about it. Just check them and good luck with the ride back. If you can cover them with insurance that might help. That’s my theory. Same with your bringing tools. You’re doing it for insurance. The couple of bucks for insurance won’t mean much but A- you’re covered if crap goes really wrong and B- it seems to me once you pay for insurance the bad apples in the organization see that and just pass it along knowing there may be an investigation. Have fun !

Tyler , this particular forum is generally for the 70’s cars and gen one brat thru 81 You might get lucky here but I’d also post where the 80’s folks can see if you didn’t already. Nuc , another member here has one on eBay , or just did. It’s the four spoke wheel which is from a GL but will swap direct for the DL two spoke. I can’t recall Tommy’s eBay name at the moment.

EA81 - Possible Head Gasket Leak or...?

Just saying if I were you I’d pull the engine and get all the gaskets and seals you can while some still exist. Do it right. You have no idea what really happened and it’s just safe and smart. After that look to the EJ22 - once the 1800 reaches it point of no return. Good luck and enjoy it ! Best year to have. -
Interior door handle bezels still available.

Have your dealer look at the west coast supply house. Not sure where you are but here in CT that’s what I had my local dealer parts guru good guy do for me. God luck. -
One on the way , I can just sense it.

Let’s read the theory behind this one. As for shifter bushings , I sold what might be my only set to someone not too long ago on eBay. I can’t recall who at the moment but discussion was that they should be copied. FYI you folks should be aware that there is also a seat bushing at the end of the lever where it meets the transmission. And also the seal should be replaced. This info is for the single range on demand 4WD Good luck with it.

A little door sill adornment

Oh man it’ll be some hack effort but I’ll see how soon I can devote such time. Right now I’m trying to sell parts off and a million other things too. -
Ok that’s out of the way so it’s story time kids. Can’t do this today with a contemporary Subaru. We were working a job across the Sound here and needed to take the ferry boat. It’s about a half hour trip. As soon as we exited our vehicles the rest of the gang went up to the lounge and generally left me alone there with all the vehicles. One guy came back to check on me. I had a FWD 1986 or was it 85? GL fivespeed - the legend ! Not kidding. That right rear wheel bearing got swapped out , hand packing the new one and was lowering the car back down as the ferry slowed to dock. I got applauded ! The guy maintaining the paddock watched most of it. You could see his face , not that I looked up much during the work , but as time went on he showed extreme relief!! “Man I’m glad you got dat dun” Mine was one of the cars at the rear so I would have blocked a lot of people. thanks for reading. Best audience ever ! Be well.

Inspiration !! Very cool ! I see myself doing a variation. Thanks for the insight and hope you appreciate the flattery when I do my own. Oh big ideas !!! Lol -
Got a second vehicle to operate while you put this one on stands ? Probably easy for me to say gather all the parts because I can easily come up with them and others may not. But my opinion is that if you search , really search and devote appropriate time you will come up with the parts you need. Assuming you don’t need to replace the calipers and rotors. Although even those are still out there if you .....really search. To me given the age of these vehicles a thorough exchange brake components and lines are top priority. Do it all now before parts are gone for good. Re-seal / overhaul kits can be found for the calipers and drum cylinders. Lines can be made. Some 80’s front flexible lines can be worked as I recall. And yes there are master cylinders too. It’s your baby. Just do it all and be proud of it. Anything short and you’re just waiting for the next episode. Just my opinion. Good luck.

Advice on 1988 XT-6 Automatic, sitting 18y in garage.
moosens replied to uhcsed's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Great story! yes , get it going. Plenty of advice will pour forth from our wonderful group here. Naturally you’re dropping the fuel tank and blowing out the lines , reverse polarity to the pump and flush it , all that cool stuff. Start hunting more of those valve/rocker cover gaskets, you’re going to need those for sure. NOS getting harder to find. Hoping to see the progress. Good luck ! -
As I’m doing this , like most of the way done I’m realizing I’m totally hijacking your thread. Very sorry. That’s the one I have out and actually keep in a box ready to make it get going. It’s by no means perfect but was fairly low miles. It’s still had the decal from shipping !!! That’s like as rare of a decal as I’ve seen. Anyways , one guy is going back n forth but seems committed. I do have at least one more. Gotta fly talk soon.
