'80 Wagon 4wd Engine Options?
moosens replied to Pinhead's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That’s going to have the side starter. Lots of options if you care to search. Most folks are going to upgrade to a 90-95 EJ22 , but you’ll have to go by budget , availability , time you’re willing to devote , space to work , etc. Not experienced but I think the EA82 will fit but be very tight as I recall. Archives will tell you. Did meet a guy who drove a long way to off-road / meet with other USMB member and his Gen II Brat has the XT6 engine stuffed into it. -

Not insulting you or anyone else so why make that comment ? Relax. It’s the timing and that’s that. Best of luck with it. Check it all again. -

I sure do understand the excitement of such a road trip. But 7 hours of fuel times two has to be way more $ than just having one sent to you. But again , it’s the excitement factor and the mystery of what else might be there. Take pic please ! Share the thrill. -
I don’t know if we are talking about the same thing. Only now do I see you mention “real” which I assume you mean to be rear. When I replied to your message I thought you meant the air dam “spoiler” I just sold. If you mean the dust/snow deflector , I might have one but can’t promise. Haven’t seen one in my stuff in a decade. Time will tell if one still exists in my stash.

First gen only. And I’m pretty sure I have one. Lately I’ve got a lot going on that has kept me from storage , but this coming week things open up. I’ll check later in the coming week. -
ATK rebuilds most likely. I have one in a crate like yours. Have had a couple come through and passed one along. Nobody else has them so it’s hard to place a price. A board member who lives near SOA headquarters managed to get some new - not rebuilt - blocks , transmissions , and I think heads too out of their main warehouse when SOA was doing some cleaning in the early 2000’s. Todd (Subaru3) got at least one and I managed to get a fresh block. When I just sold my 78 this past year I would not budge on $1800 because of the NEW block from SOA with fresh heads. The car was probably a $500 car so looking at it this way I got $1300 for my engine after putting about 1100 miles on it. But that’s showing the next owner that it runs and needs nothing.

Don’t sweat the comment. He means well. The 2.2 aqua bleed has been talked about a lot , but I’m like you and often just post before researching. Or my searches seem to produce less of a solution than desired. And if you’re like me you don’t have time to read every post like an obsessive , so you also miss a lot of info... therefore you post. I do the same and if somebody needs to waste more time calling me out on it let them waste their time. It’s always been a great board and always cool , just some folks get annoyed with other people’s posts being what they feel is redundant. I’d rather converse here than the book of face anytime. I must be lucky because we own 3 1992-4 EJ22 cars and I’ve done engine swaps , radiators , intake , etc. and never did I need to remove the upper hose and also never needed any extreme nose lift. My method - fill the radiator as old school , run the engine , heat on is best , cap off and little filler open you slowly fill the bleeder and watch the radiator , it’ll balance out just stay on top of it. I’m sure I’m a hack but with several of these under my belt I’m still cruising. Just up the road from you but I’m busy like crazy lately. If I can get some time I’ll run down there.

Will these wheels fit my Loyale?
moosens replied to kmpdx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
And they will rub on turns only so be aware of that if you fit them up and all looks great. Turn the steering wheel and look again. Just sayin’ Incase you can’t resist these. People are always asking me for those wheels. If cheap enough they might work for you or you can pass them along easily. -

Spacers behind the wheel. I was at an old dealer and they had a pile of them for the 4x140 wheels but I wouldn’t expect to find them easily now. Those wagons did have wagon wheel options but they are third generation of those wheels and the setback isn’t so severe. If those wheel you’re showing are from the 80-84 era they will rub on your outer tie rod. You can grind the rod end if no spacers. But I don’t really go for that method , even though others have done it. Probably something in archives about it. -
Why can’t I buy a weber
moosens replied to Unknownjeremiah's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I can’t speak for the Board but I sure don’t recall the USMB peddling any products other than USMB regalia. Otherwise , the kits are still out there. Keep looking. And then there’s a whole mess of us that think Webers belong in Italian sports cars and not much else. You’ll find one soon. Good luck.
