  1. Just keeping you company being another FWD owner. I'm very curious now , best of luck. I'll see what I can from my end and get back.
  2. If you're not aware , check the prices on factory replacement for California exhaust. You'll be converting or pulling off some magic when the time comes.
  3. Yeah I also have a super low mile engine ready to go but I want to be crazy and cheap and see how long I can go on this engine. If you haven't seen it yet , check out that old post about highest mileage and see my post on "the professor". He had over 1.5 million miles on an old 1.8 OHV.
  4. I'll check this weekend. Just can't really dig out stuff as much as just grab what's easily visible and offer it , right now. Hopefully I can organize some in the spring.
  5. Yeah I figured they'd give sooner than later. My one regret about my last big effort was not doing the HG's. Just not enough time and money at that particular time. Anyways.... I'll pick up the HG's and associated pieces and have them ready.
  6. Mine is approaching the magic 300K and I intend on hitting 400K plus. I've got the usual piston slap / extra funkiness upon starting. When warm it's not bad sounding. Just did the clutch , all seals , pumps , timing , etc. But I did not do headgaskets yet. I've owned the car since 119k and I'll pretty sure there were no HG's replaced before then. I run 87 octane most of the time. Change oil like it should be done and with a new filter every time. Post if you have gone deep with your 2.2 version one. My tranny is the now rare front wheel drive five speed. It's been sounding funky for years now but I think some of that was the clutch TOB holder springs/clips that a guy I let work on it didn't install correctly. Anyhow , the unit is obviously high miles now and was wondering who has rebuilt one or if they survive up over 400k. Thanks for sharing your Experiences !
  7. Coming up on 300k probably in a couple weeks. 298,8xx I was going to post about going over 300k for info from those with such experience. Don't think I'm competing. This is a cool post too.
  8. Unable to gather all this stuff up right now. Tail lights are wagon , not Brat. Hopefully I will get storage moving with the better weather setting in.
  9. Oh crap , I am pretty sure I do , Tommy. I just need time and good weather to get storage pumping again. G-man , I should have one - NOS , or maybe Jesse snagged it or has another - and probably has one handy which I don't. See above. Good weather and time needed.
  10. Your legs got skinny ! Lol Should have guessed from the "wagon" name. Got your PM , yes , I do recall the engine to Skip in your XT. Good to see you on the USMB again.
  11. Easier to take the plastic off and search out your break. Start with the rubber boot that ducts the harness into the hatch from the body. Pull gently on the harness and the connector is right there. If that isn't the answer then consider taking down the plastic covers and checking there - on the hatch end of things - if no luck then the rear of the ceiling liner.
  12. Ok picture in your icon thingy - legs are too thin to be Steve from WV One guy ruled out, maybe.
  13. Holy flippin burgers !! I know with a clue or two I'll pinpoint your name. So sorry I didn't figure it out yet. Not Dennis , is it ? I'm going to re-read that post and hone in on an I D
  14. Same as you , when we mashed the pedal or under load. In our case it was the same uphill on ramp and same spot it would start shaking etc. Maybe I'm wrong on which number cylinder. Lots of theories! Please post all progress. Good luck.
  15. Here's what I was told by a master Subaru tech about our 96 2.2. The #4 cylinder's exhaust valve can stick even after you've warmed it up. Ours would cough and wheeze etc as we'd get up onto the highway at our local entrance ramp. Same deal , pull over and let it correct then it would be fine. Sorry to add another theory. Good luck with it. Also , the coil pack could have a minor crack in it too. Seen those balk under load too.
  16. Devin , I blocked off the two rear lines at the junction block using some bolts I dug up that threaded in well enough. I have been lazy about getting the reservoir refilled and the front brakes bled. Lazy and crazy. I'm probably going to let this car go now. It's a tough decision and it's not definite yet , but I just don't have the spare time right now.
  17. Thanks both of you. I haven't done anything yet so I will use your advice going forward.
  18. I just found a copy of his list from way back in '06 Was a nice chunk of vintage stock there. Sorry , I am cleaning house and tossing this stuff. Best I can tell you is the name above and this phone number , if you dare - 707-255-8945 And it is or was at 1185 Fourth Ave. And no , I don't need anything right now.
  19. I'm not sure but check around for an Allen head plug. Maybe on the passenger side.
