  1. Glad you scored !!!! Great area for Subarus down there. Grandfather Mtn. ski run ??? Lol
  2. Jealous here ..... 18 or whatever it was last night really didn't feel so bad. Warm front coming , probably over you right now. Well you are getting me primed for a Spring run - EARLY if I have my way with the weather. Top needs right now: Front drivers door for our 99 Legacy sedan Anniversary Edition kind of funky green. Have to get the code. FWD five speed tranny for my 92 Legacy 2.2 Back burner: AWD automatic tranny for our ej18 Impreza wagon. Glad you scored well !
  3. SOA if you're looking as stated above you folks largely ignored the East Coast even while we were setting a prime example of the brand's abilities just a few miles from your HQ. And I can't speak for the west and the rest but your policies on older parts up until the economy went south left many of us out in the cold. I've had a great experience with one person from SOA. That in over 33 years of owning and driving six star cars.
  4. Is that Dave Powers? I was in touch with him for a crate engine like 10 years ago I have had good luck with ATK engines, FWIW Great find for the 73-77 owner who'd like a drop in on the shelf.
  5. Yeah great year to have! Should always be atop of the Gen I value list.
  6. That's what I figured for center left and right. Looks like no issue but is maybe on side ( top or bottom ) heavier and cause it to want to rotate? Or does is stay well at any point in rotation?
  7. Yeah that's something I try to do - have a ready made unit to swap in. Getting ready to do my heater core in the old 78. Just about to turn 250k on my 92 Legacy.
  8. Remove the column cover , grind or drill out the rivet heads , or use a chisel to turn them like a nut because they ARE threaded. Disconnect plugs and you're done. Are you replacing the key core or the contact plate (switch) ?
  9. When you are done be sure to top off the radiator thru the little square head plastic bolt/cap on the passenger side of the radiator. Works and is easy to button up with car running up to warm.
  10. When you are done be sure to top off the radiator thru the little square head plastic bolt/cap on the passenger side of the radiator. Cam and crank seal? Thermostat? New hoses? Always good to consider.
  11. Yeah you're doing fine ! And you're right about the frame - chassis cars having more flex while in weenie mode. My wagon is flexing some when I jack the front. Gonna be wiggling and jiggling when it's flippin like a chicken. Rot finally got enough of mine in the firewall base/rocker/wheel arch area that something has to happen. Paying tuitions so cheap refurbishment will do fine for me.
  12. I need a solid drivers door for a 99 Anniversary Edition Legacy sedan in that green which I believe is special and not the typical green on Outbacks etc. But I'll take any solid green door. If there's one there I'll make a freeze my nuts winter run. They still have wagons , right?
  13. Harry's Day sometime this spring. We've done it before. And the Rt. 61 favorites. You local guy , we near by folks really appreciate any sighting reports. It's a good 3-4 hours drive for me. Anybody hit Faust in Allentown this last 7 or so years? Haven't gotten there since they were splitting the property with the new highway going thru. They had one Gen I Brat and other vintage stuff on that split lot way up in the far corner. Once upon a time ...
  14. You see much or any Real flex when suspended in rotisserie fashion? I've heard resto guys (some of course) the rotisserie is tough on unibody cars. Let's hear from The Man. I can now see myself doing the same in a rented storage unit. Lol but hey , if it works I'm all for it. Looking most inspiring from this coast.
  15. And how many years ??? Lol But you've gotta pass the torch and hope it doesn't die off.
  16. So far that car has gone from an apple orchard in Washington to and industrial park in CT to another location to TN then back to CT east of the river ......and hasn't run yet.
  17. I'll be sure to set what I find aside for you. There's a box of mixed stuff I have that still has some 72-3 stuff in it. Nothing too great as I recall but I'm pretty sure I or ctsuba have those cool bumper guards. I can picture in my mind ctsuba's pile of those early glove boxes. We have some NOS rear panels. Might be a 72-3 in there. Dome light almost certain we both have. Trunk lid , maybe and NOS ! Winter is here and storage not so easy to deal with but I'll keep all in mind and hopefully get stuff off before Your winter.
  18. My wife suddenly seems interested in driving another vintage Subaru but it has to be an automatic. So let me know when you're bored with it. ???? Sounds like you scored the gear locally. The metal upgrade or plastic?
  19. They show up infrequently. Ask your dealer to check west coast supply. They can and should but often won't.
  20. Yeah I'm the only jackass who uses a vintage Subaru thru the chemical season. Mine has Zeibart mostly still doing its job but even then there are spots where you just could not stop the protection from wearing away and then of course rust to follow. I'm really lucky to have been able to keep mine going as original. But that day is on the horizon where I'll have to put it to rest or take on some serious bodywork. Keeping it from moisture is key. Although I do not have garage space my car's survival has been assisted by the fact that it is always over pavement with some air circulating all around it. If you have a garage I suggest the bubble. Look into it or low voltage fans to circulate the air some. Your exhaust will also go south just from sitting. Nature of the beast.
  21. Fuel management is what I'm most curious about in an EJ22 drop in 70's project. FI? Tank pressure? Carb'd EJ???? Mmmmm
