Good luck with it. We've got a 95 Imp for my wife. Automatic which we run in FWD 95% of the time. We're up around 200k now. Enjoy!

Pre Vin number decoder.

Remove the fenders and get rid of the foam tape Subaru used. That's what starts the rust in the "thin metal" spots you mention. You can probably fix those fenders well enough. Some still exist but they are hard to find. Try Danny W known here as "drivesubies" , and on eBay as "dannybreadman". He has them new! Good luck ! -
Ask them if they can make a dual exhaust set up. People have done it. Search the archives. "Skip" definitely had a nice set up made. Pretty sure he went stainless too.

Looks great for sitting so long. Mice will have left deposits. Check the ducts. Don't be afraid to take the dash out first thing. Then attack the heater unit. You're sure to have acorns or your local rodent fair. Pull the seats out, and get the entire carpet out carefully. There are snap downs , don't just grab and yank. Remove the cowl which is the louvered piece in front of the windshield. Then get all the pine needles etc. out from down inside there. With the carpet and dash out go look for pin holes where the rust is from the debris. Even areas where people don't get much rust that area of the vehicle is notorious. You may need a windshield gasket. Going to be tough but not impossible. We may have to investigate yet another group purchase. I think you should drop the gas tank and treat it accordingly , and blow out / flush any fuel lines. We'll have more to offer. Lots of help here. You appear to have a solid body there. If you scored it for a couple-few hundred you'd always be able to get that back easy. Scrape up some dough and good luck !!! -
1976 Coupe, but with wagon front clip?
moosens replied to Scooner's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
One great deal is the gas tanks are inboard and may have an excellent chance at going long term. We have a tank or two here , with neck and insulation wrap. -

You've got me questioning myself , but I'll check a parts manual as I can. I've got the rear side windows for this car in my stash or with ctsuba or subafreak. These are roll downs I'm pretty sure. I had an old lady 56k GF hardtop that was so hard to let go of. I still have lots of low mileage interior etc for one like this. My stuff is saddle or tan some would say. Underside tells it all but that car looks workable. It surely would always have a home once rescued as long as it's solid. -

If he can't help you out we should have a slider here , maybe a straight solid one too. Either in my stuff or with ctsuba . But I'm positive we have them for Gen I. -

Still worth having fun with. I've got a hood for it. And plenty other parts including probably all four corners complete wheel/ suspension with disk or drum. Another thing , only disk brakes on coupes thru 75 I think , then 76 they included hardtops .... Something like that. Can you get a VIN off the dashboard and see if it has front disk or drums? Lift hood and check for two port exhaust you are used to seeing or four port exhaust that'll freak you out if you've never seen it. From the phone I'm using I'm guessing it's a 1600 because they didn't mess with 1400's mixed with automatics too very long. Post some info for the folks please. What I've asked about and also if they will sell it whole and for how much. Really really have to check the underside especially where the trailing arm meets the unibody and wheel arches. -

A true USA coupe had round lights. To confuse many keep in mind Subaru also offered. Two door sedan with typical squared pillars , AND the HT or hardtop which had less rake angle on the pillars but still not a coupe. This example has roll down rear side windows. A coupe's rears are hinged opening just slightly. Parts manuals shed lots of light. Get the thing , somebody !!! Wtf? There's brats then coupes then cool 4wd wagons ..... Unquestionably at its bottom value now. But some minor money and good effort and that's a $4k car real fast. Should be a 1600 too , yes? I didn't look that close. If it's a 1400 even more rare for someone seeking a low production model. -

I'd say that's a '75-7 old lady car you'd better grab. Lol Yes the coupes got the cool round orange lights as did the '75-7 4WD Wagons. All others in the line looked ugly. Snatch it up! Get a five speed and have some fun. -

Help - Where to find parts for Gen 1 Brat?
moosens replied to sancofw's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Far from Mustangs. But be patient and most of what you need is out there. We might have to get yet another windshield gasket order going. -

chirp chirp ..... As expected. Lol -
Comes around every third weekend in May. The Carlisle Import/Kit/Replicar Show. Sometimes we show up and sometimes we don't. ctsuba started the talk. I will only go if I can combine it with something like camping etc. Anyone in this year? I'm guessing we totally blew the club deadline , not that it mattered. And the discount for pre-reg.

I actually paid the local dealer to press the old one out and new one in. Was worth it to me because I feared killing the knuckle hacking at it myself. My dealer has a special tool where they can do it one the car or off. I'm sure plenty of Subaru dealers have it too. Plenty out there for you. You'll be all set soon. Good luck.

1st Gen Brat Side passenger side-view mirror?
moosens replied to Cyfun's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
79 they started putting passenger side mirrors on most Subarus. Seems strange your '80 doesn't have both sides but maybe it's a base model. Those mirrors are around but hard to come by.
