  1. 1300 parts can be found. What do you want to do with it if you can find parts? If you would actually use it the engine is very efficient and you can easily find the intake and carb from a few old school folks. ctsuba has used parts for 1300's including the 4 spd the mates up to it. dannybreadman on eBay has new old stock. He's here too as drivesubies . I also have some new engine internals buried away. Good luck. I know I want one for a future project.
  2. '79 is the year for transition from points to e'tron. Maybe because yours is 4WD ? I'm still using points but threaten to swap often. Find them on eBay rebuilt and ready to drop in for around $50.
  3. Don't be in a rush to set that front badge on. Looks great as is. My son turns 16 in a week or so. He wants my 78 wagon AND a Gen I Brat but that's the dream lol. Somebody will get the dimension you need soon. I'm unable to check mine right now, sorry.
  4. Can't tell ya how many times I see one on eBay and say "ah, I'll get it another time." Thanks for the post. On my list NOW.
  5. Tought to say from here but looks "bangable" for the radiator support. Pics looking down into the engine bay and/or of the front unibody "rails" would show more of the extent of the hit. It doesn't look bad to me if the fender didn't buckle up. So I'd say get stripping it and bang that radiator support back into shape. At least try. Good luck.
  6. Used to very popular to tow a brat or Gen I 4wd wagon. But that's decades ago up here. See you in the spring. Truck stop Milford. Exit 40. I'll be the guy in the old Subaru.
  7. Drive on up to new England this fall. We'll treat you to a coffee at Dunkin Donuts. I really want to see an old brat behind a motorhome.
  8. I'm on vacation, get back soon. "drivesubies" for NOS. Others lately with small lots, but Danny rules.
  9. That looks like a Bozzuto's trailer. Careful what you say. Lol Any meets up that way? I'm down for embarassing myself with loud exhaust.
  10. CTSUBA - if you can , try him. I remember some of those masonite/cardboard type gloveboxes and I'm pretty sure he has a black g/b door too. I hope to see him today and will try to remember to mention this post to him. I know I left him some fo the '79 "shelves" that go under the dash too.
  11. Wait , I have lots of turn signal lenses , etc. As soon as I can I'll be cleaning house. Cheaper for sure!
  12. What you need to do is replace the alternator and V/R at the same time. You can update to a solid state regulator.
  13. Hey , welcome. I'm currently doing a side gig at CCSU in Newington. Bristol is nice if not for the pro football players. LOL wongleflute Blick's (Plainville?) is the coolest place for art folk. But I'm a Bridgeporter so its all nice outside of the city line. Enjoy the Baja and this Board ! Cheers! I'm old school but I'm sre folks here will help you with the Q's Edit - you can't type the name D i C k here? Geez , its the name of the store ...... People not familiar with this store will find the name funny for sure. But that's THE COOLEST art supply store I've ever seen.
  14. Take the little pins out of the wedges? Then use a punch or something and tap them. Better to tap from inside towards outside if you can get in there, and you can. Spray with penetrant first. Bolts as shown above. I've scored loaded rebuilds. Good luck!
  15. Thanks! Did Ahnold legislate doing time for emissions offenders? Death camp for oil leakers? Lol Seen those pickup units on eBay around $13 FYI to all.
  16. I think we should ask Danny to fit one of those early 4WD bumpers up to a FWD later 70's (Stage II) to see if it fits for width. Mounting will be custom but nothing too difficult. Anyone else done this? Stage I 4WD bumper to Stage II any vehicle.....? And Danny , if you see this - you have a set of those from me back when you were here. We weren't sure at the time and I said take them anyways and we'll figure out what to do later. I'm at a point now where I really want to try those on my Stage II 4WD Wagon.
  17. tick tock tick tock .... Hey , can somebody search for skip's old post , please? I'm really tight on time lately. Thanks!!!
  18. Don't modify it ! LOL Yes , fix it , and keep it healthy in the same state it exists. Enjoy , and we'll see you at Carlisle PA third weekend in May - OK ?? You can drive it up here for a Caffeine and Carbs meet if you like. Check it out and no I don't expect you to show but if you did you can park in a side lot and I'm sure you'll get as much attention or more than several lesser known cars that sell for over $300K. No kidding. But Carlisle is plenty cool enough. Cheers!
  19. MR Loyale , for sure you're better off vacuuming out but I did the cheeseball method and am happy to say it works plenty good enough for getting through the dead of summer. But yes , I agree and will likely revamp my entire system soon since the clutch is aging on the compressor and the obvious need to extract the humidity. I do notice the slight smell and inaffectiveness at start up but as mentioned it's a $44 blessing right now. So my message is if you're driving a car you're only expecting short life from or expecting to refurbish it you can get by cheap in this case. Kit is easy to work with. Granted I'm in New England not AZ but we're typically 80-90 degrees in the dead weeks and 90% humidity from end of June thru mid August or later. Good luck everybody!
