Flashing power light probably means a bad solenoid. Not familiar with the code retrieval process. Someone near you a few weeks ago had the transmission you need for sale. May want to search the for sale section.

This car has the 4EAT transmission. That vacuum hose isn't your problem because this transmission doesn't use it. Those two hoses are probably just vent hoses. The TPS could be out of adjustment and I would tinker with it first. Owned the same car years ago and loved it.

New KYB shocks in the rear; Car now looks lifted
john in KY replied to yblocker's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
FWD and 4WD rear shocks have different lengths. FWD shocks are longer. -

I'd buy it. Live across the lake near Hoptown. -
Leak at the radiator should be a simple fix. Tighten the hose clamps and/or replace the short sections of hose. Worse case, and I've never seen or heard of this, the transmission nipple is cracked. Been driving my 95 for almost 10 years that has consistently leaked a quart of oil around every 600 to 800 miles. I just live with it. Added some Lucas stop leak the last oil change and that product has reduced the oil lose and I recommend it.

Will a ea82 pass emissions with no cats?
john in KY replied to AustRabel's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I doubt it because I think when you have the emission test done the inspectors look to see if the emission stuff is actually on the car or not. -

Belt probably slipping and sensor wires disconnected at sensors. -
86 Turbo XT 4wd re-assembly, stuck help!
john in KY replied to Mr. Carb's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thinking the transistor attached to the coil bracket has a small wiring harness. -
The air intake tube, the tube that runs from the airflow meter/airfilter to the throttle body typically has a number of smaller hoses attached to it. Whoever did the tune up may have removed this tube and failed to reattach the smaller hoses. Worth a look see. A bad airflow meter can cause the no-power problem. Happened to me once. Car is still running with a wrecking yard $5 replacement. Car should have a tack. What does it indicate when you are maxed out doing 30mph?

Just replaced my pump 2 months ago. Thinking a philips screwdriver and a 10mm socket with an extension to get down in the well is all that is needed. Hardest part is removing the 3 hoses. Also recommend a OEM Subaru pump. The pump I used from an online store stated the pump was "a direct replacement". It wasn't and required cutting and splicing wires and it was much smaller than the stock pump.

Ask Huck 369 over on the XT6 forum what he had to do to install a SVX engine in his XT6. Just from memory I seem to recall in was pretty much a drop in with the right motor mounts.

Stuck distributor and cam Sprocket
john in KY replied to N0TKG's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Really no need to pull the distributor. Replace the timing belts and all the idlers, new oil pump gasket and call it a done deal. Good idea to also replace the camshaft seals but if they aren't leaking, don't. Edit: The distributor, if memory is correct, is retained by 2 bolts. You did remove both of them? But again, leave it alone. Edit #2: Any chance you know a Gale Rosenburger? Not sure of his last name spelling. -
I have an extra RS wheel. Bought it at least 10 years ago and never used it. Wheel is mint. Pm me an offer if interested.

Hello thinking of getting a new Subaru

Just curious but what is a Marine I assume is on active duty doing in WI? Are you on recruiting duty? -
Had the same problem once. In my case the problem turned out to be a small broken vacuum line that was attached to the intake manifold runner that fed the dead cylinder.
