  1. What is the reason you have to use the 06 axle? I checked Rockauto and compared the 2 model years. Length is a little different but the main concern is the number of splines outboard end. I would think you could use part of one axle and outboard end from the other. Don't know why the 02 axle unmodified would not work.
  2. You're probably right. Have 4 injectors coming my way in the mail and ordered all new O-rings this morning. Pulled one injector this afternoon just to see how difficult it is. Hoping all the parts get here Friday or Saturday and can have it up and running by Sunday. "pull the vacuum hose for the eval purge solenoid and see if there's liquid fuel in there." Not familiar with that part. Where located?
  3. Good idea to first loosen the balancer bolt. If you plan to redo the camshaft seals, loosen those bolts before removing the T-belts.
  4. I parked the car this morning and have no plans on using it until problem resolved. Just grateful the problem appeared now and not 2 weeks from now. Need to make a 1200 mile trip to Ohio to visit my sister, that's what I told the wife, but really going to pick up a low mileage 2.2 I scored on eBay. Wife would not be happy if I returned with an oily engine in the back of her LL Bean. She hates the 95, refuses to even ride in it but it's my beater. She wants me to scrap it, buy a truck but I keep reminding her we have a truck, a 66 Dodge Camper Special. Thing is she refuses to ride in it also. We obviously view vehicles differently.
  5. 1995 Legacy. Changed oil a few weeks ago and within days the car exhaust started to smoke on start up. Checked dipstick and about 3 inches above full. Drained oil thinking somehow I replaced 5 quarts instead of 4. Well, engine now shows again way overfilled and has the blue-smoke screen on start up. Thinking an injector is leaking but is a quart possible in such a short time? Car only driven several 2-mile runs daily. Got to have my coffee and doughnuts. Edit: Engine has over 300K miles with original injectors. Heavily leaning to replacing all 4. Anyone have a good recommendation for remanufactured injectors. No way will go the new route. Car just too old.
  6. Studs may line up if the head is used on the other side but no matter, they are just screwed in. Use ViceGrips to remove/replace.
  7. GL-10s came with the LSD. Should at least pull the heads as they are the best Gen 3 type.
  8. I seem to recall the XT6 had a LH and RH transmission. One was used on right hand drive cars and the other on left hand. wondering if the transmission you used came from a JDM vehicle?
  9. 1995 Legacy. Bought some new headlights last week, installed them 2 days ago and could not adjust them vertically. Said screw it, pulled them and reinstalled the originals. Today began to think I may have been trying to lower them using the wrong adjustment screw. Which of the 2 screws adjusts vertically or which one adjusts left to right? I have been humbled. Defeated by a headlight.
  10. Actually did check that site. Just didn't want to believe 90 and 91s only. Why won't a newer one work and then I recalled reading something about the rear yoke being changed or something. So decide to just ask the experts. In the process of buying a 1990 legacy with a bad driveshaft. Looks like if the deal goes through will have to take it to a machine shop for a new joint. And on my 95 several years ago I tried to remove its joint and it was a failure. Even a sledge hammer couldn't move it.
  11. May need a rear driveshaft for a 1990 Legacy. Will one from a newer year interchange? Seems I read somewhere once that there is a difference in the very early Legacys and newer models. Something about the rear U-joint being different. TIA.
  12. I know it's more complicated because there is A/C which also is supposed to turn on the cooling fan, correct? Correct. Has to be a relay somewhere that could be the source of the problem. Thinking from memory there should be 2 relays on the passenger side, close to the strut. From memory, one is for the fan.
  13. Get the bolts that hold the hub into the spindle and thread them in about 6 turns or so (leaving a little gap between the head and the spindle) Put a socket on an extension, and wail on the extension. Using the bolts as a way to force the hub out from the back. Alternating 2 bolts. If the rears are anything like the front bearings, then the above works. I pounded/pulled on my front bearing for over a week when I was advised to use the above method. Probably took a minute to separate the parts.
  14. "the fuse for the map lights is #8 in the engine compartment fuse box. It's a 20 Amp fuse that supplies "always on" power to the map lights, the Body Integrated Unit, the keyless entry ("central locking"), the ceiling lights, the radio memory (presets), and the clock. So if the fuse is blown, there should be other lights and functions not working."
  15. Having owned several turbos, been more than a few years ago, I recall that hole is where the O2 sensor goes. Turbo models only used one sensor so can't explain the second one downstream.
  16. On another forum I learned this is a common problem caused by a weak solder connection. My 08 has the same problem. Radio comes and goes but has been problem-free last 5 months or so. Try pushing on the panel above/around the #3 button.
  17. I don't think so because I doubt the factory did it when the gear was installed.
