  1. Do not through the old one away. About four years ago my fuel pump quit working. I removed it from the vehicle, smacked it with the hammer lightly and it has been running since that (cross my fingers). Yours might be the same. Sam
  2. Many people use fram and get away with it. If you search YouTube for fram you will see what I am talking about. Good filters cost a little more than fram but I rather spend extra dollar or two to protect my investment. This is two dollars vs thousands. You decide... Sam
  3. Size does not really matter. Just make sure you stat away from blue OEM and cheap brands like Fram, etc. Bosch and Purolator Pure One are very good brands. Good luck, Sam
  4. I would not deal with rockauto from the starters... I guess you are stuck now... or they will charge you for the return shipping. Sam
  5. For my non turbo 2010 Forester Subaru recommends spark plugs replacement every 30,000 miles. Sam
  6. I would not use Mercon. Use Dexron. Good luck, Sam
  7. I have been there! After THREE wrong parts they made me pay fot return shipping. No more ra Sam
  8. If you have a white cone shaped nozzle, unscrew it from the tube and push the hard stuff out with a nail or similar sharp object. Sam
  9. It is in back of the oil dipstick. Remove the plastic cover and you will see two small soleniods with two wire connctors. They suppose to have a vent on the side. Check the resistance. As far as I remember it suppose to be 36 Kohm. Search the forum for EGR solenoid and you will find a lot of information. This is a very common promblem with EA82 engine. Good luck, Sam
  10. It might be your alternator going bad. Sam
  11. I would not deal with rockauto. They will send you a wrong stuff and then charge you for shipping it back. Sam
  12. I bought a water pump from Kragen many years ago with lifetime warranty. It lasted me only 40000 miles. Few months ago it failed but Oreily honored the warranty. And no on rockauto. Their database is very inaccurate. Good luck, Sam
  13. I have always said it, rockauto's data base is inacurate. You can still buy NGK spark plugs there: 10 cents cheaper!

  15. I know it is not very expencive, but I only a care giver. I do not drive my car anymore. I try to spend as less as possible. Thank you GD, Sam
  16. It is Fuel Injected. The bracket is not bent.
  17. Throttle cable for 1992 Loayle, FI FWD with 171000 miles. This is the second cable. It stretched beyond the point where I can adjust it anymore. The ball on one side of the cable connects to the pedal and I do not think it is possible to adjust the cable here. Other side of the cable has sort of a cylinder. Has anybody tried to undo this connection on the little cylinder side to shorten the cable’s length? I am trying to avoid buying a new one. The search produced no results. I will appreciate your thoughts/suggestions if somebody has any information on the topic or knows where the thread on the topic is located. Sam
  18. If you have rear drums, I think the torque is 30 ft/lb. I do not remember if you have cone washer on those. Sam
  19. There is only coolant mentioned in the work order. The answers to the rest of your questions are negative: no wrecks, no unusual sounds. The bottom of the engine is bone dry. I am the only owner of the vehicle so the history of it is clean. The only work I have done is oil change, new air and cabin filter. After the tech worked on the car I can see a white residue around the neck where he spilled some coolant. It had not been there before: I would see it. I still can smell the coolant, but I hope it is from the spill and it will soon go away. It was mentioned in Google groups discussions that Subaru now recommends adding conditioner to all vehicles in question. I would still prefer to know that it was done to my vehicle though. I hope that I will have nothing else to report… Sam
  20. 2010 Forester with 20,000 miles on it. Was alerted by a burnt coolant smell. Checked the level in the morning (when the engine is cold) and sure enough: the coolant level is below "low" level. Since the car is still under warranty I took it to the dealer. According to them the system pressure test showed no leaks, but the radiator cap did not pass the test and they replaced it. I do not really trust the dealer. Could they just added coolant conditioner to avoid future problems? I realize that they suppose to get authorization from Subaru for that, but there is everything possible in our world. Can anybody have an answer for me? Thanks, Sam
  21. All electrical diagrams are free to download, but most of TSBs are locked. You may print them out though: right click and select "print" Sam
