I once tried to leave the old crush washer in. It did not leak it POURED. I switched to a copper one and stll using it. Probably for 15 years by now. A month ago I bought a crush washer from a dealer for my new Forester and they charged me $1.20. What a rip off! I did not use it, because I bought another copper one. So far so good! No leaks. Sam

Beware!!! Rockauto's catalog is very inacurate!!! Sam -
My coolant is leaking through the heater core. But the whole expantion tank is of course too much coolant to not notice it dripping on your legs. Try to do a compression test. It should tell you the conditions of your head gasket. Good luck, Sam

Suppose to be: running 0 to 45 (depending on conditions) Once again: rockauto got another victim! Sorry, Sam -
I will stop by and see what they have for future, but as of now it is too late to return used hoses to the dealer. Thanks, Sam

I failed inspection in Pennsylvania because of ... bad wiper blades!

I learned the hard way the difference between heater hose and emission hose: they fail my smog test with the verdict - "MODIFIED PCV SYSTEM" Could not find any 5/8'' emission hose anywhere. Had to spend 50 dollars at the Subaru dealer for three foot long pieces. I hope this information will help somebody. Sam

If this is automatic, check transmission modulator. Sam -
Open access hole under your spare tire. Rotate your engine clockwise. You will see three lines on the flywheel. Like this: |||. Line up the middle line with the mark on the housing. Check your cam marks now. Sam
-
Regular channellock will do that. You will loose some ATF, but not much so be prepared to add some. The fluid in the lines will be burnt off in the engine. Do not worry about it. Vacuum is applied to your transmission for gear changes. I do not think you will be able to go far... Good luck, Sam

Pull the hose. It suppose to be dry. If fluid is present the diaphragm is shot and unit needs to be replaced. Dealer's price is around 50 dollars. Good lukck, Sam
