  1. If you use 92 octaine or higher it may help you, but considering the price you better check out other things: Make sure all three PCV hoses are clear of obstruction. Make sure your transmission modulator is not leaking. Seafoam your engine. When you look at the bottom of this page you see other threads about pinning. Read them as well. Try this thread: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49760 Good luck, Sam
  2. They kill you offering low prices but their inventory is very inaccurate. Try something else: O'Reily, Pepboys, etc. Good luck, Sam
  3. There is a sensor on top of the AC belt. Make sure it is close to the belt and the belt itself is tight. Good luck, Sam
  4. I think this is a classic example of a bad transmission modulator. You need to buy it a dealer - aftermarket is not good. You will spend around 50 dollars. The rubber membrane in the modulator is probably shot and fluid is been sucked into the vacuum system and then burnt in the engine. To test the old one pull a vacuum hose from it. The hose may be full with fluid, while it suppose to be dry. Good luck, Sam
  5. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=56468 See if that link can help you. Sam
  6. I would start with replacing O2 sensor. At that age and mileage it is well overdue. You will not pass inspection with code on either. EGR solenoid is another candidate. Sam
  7. It has been said many times here: BE CAREFUL WITH ROCKAUTO! their catalog is inacurate. It is better to spend more but get the right stuff!!! Sam
  8. See if that can help you: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=61165&page=2
  9. Did you disconnect the green connectors after you checked for trouble codes? Sam
  10. Before playing with fuel pump open access plugs on the timing belt cover and make sure your timing belt is intact. For the fuel pump, smack it slightly with something and put it back. That might be all you need. Mine has been working fine for about 6 months after that kind of treatment. Good luck, Sam
  11. No luck here in San Diego area!!! I have checked lots of junk yards here. No older generation Subarus... Sam
  12. It has been said many times: Rockauto is not a place to buy autoparts!!! They give you good prices: this is true, but you need a part that fits... Sam
  13. I you are losing coolant it might be your heater core. Try to bypass it, get rid of air in the system. If coolant level does not drop - this is your heater core. Good luck, Sam
  14. Great idea! I simply taped it to the body, but screw is definitely a much better thing. Thanks, Sam
  15. http://www.classictruckshop.com/clubs/earlyburbs/projects/cooling/fans.htm See if that helps. Sam
  16. Lots of work, but well done! I like it!!! Sam
  17. Try this link: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50768
  18. I found another thread where Skip points at this thread: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=40400&highlight=ford+fuel+pump Sam
  19. Could somebody provide a part number for Ford's fuel pump? I have the same problem with my Loyale's. Hit it with a hammer handle and it works now but who know how long it will last. So I want to be ready... Thanks in advance, Sam
  20. I would not trust RockAuto. They burnt me for my Honda parts. So who would guarantee that their Subaru catalog is correct! Sam
  21. I would also try to replace a modulator with the genuine Subaru one. Fram does not make a good stuff. Good luck, Sam
  22. My Loyale has always been like that. Since I bought it new. To check your timing, remove your spare tire. There should be a rubber plug on the fly wheel. You need a timing light. Your timing suppose to be 20 degrees BTDC. Check your transmission modulator. Pull a vacuum hose from it and see if there is a transmission fluid in there. If there is, you diaphragm is bad and the modulator needs replacement. I hope this helps, Sam
  23. You are not suppose to pour water on your locks. It will get frozen again! Light up a match and warm up your key on it. Put it in the key way. You will have to do it couple of times, but it eventually thaw the lock. Sam
  24. If this is an automatic transmission check out your modulator: pul out a vacuum hose and see if there is ATF in there. Sam
  25. Yep!!! The wrong distributor they sent me is still listed with the engine that will NOT FIT...
