  1. Check that round thing that is mounted next to the motor. Contacts inside might be dirty or warn out. Good luck, Sam
  2. Make sure you compare readings at the alternator and at the battery posts. It also could be a bad diode. Check reading at the alternator for the AC current. Good luck, Sam
  3. Did you also make sure your fly wheel was at this ||| mark? Miles Fox has a great thread somewhere here on timing belt installation. It helped me a lot. Good luck, Sam
  4. Yes. Make sure you have a good ground. Good luck, Sam
  5. I have put few drops of oil on the shaft. Did it two-three times and it started working again. I guess you know that this fan does not work all the times? It works when the engine gets too hot or when your AC is on. Good luck, Sam
  6. I have been using vacuum bleeder for years. Try gravity bleed: open the bleeder screw and let the brake fluid drip. Watch for air bubbles. When done close the bleeder screw and move to another wheel. Make sure you have the master cylinder full. Good luck, Sam
  7. I would, like Garry suggested, check for ground. You need to have an electrical diagram. Try to ground the body of the ECU while testing or check the diagram for ground pin number. Good luck, Sam
  8. My 2010 Forester calls for spark plugs replacement every 30,000 miles. How about yours? Another reason for long crank might be the fuel filter required to be changed every 60,000 miles. I have not done mine yet but I have only 75K on it. Good luck, Sam
  9. 12 volts from the ignition key become 11 and then 10... That what happens with old cars. This is a common problem on this car generation. The solution is a new circuit for starter ignition line. Very simple and easy to do solution. We suppose to have a lot of threads about them on this forum. I installed one on my Loyale and never have problems with starting the car. Good luck, Sam
  10. What do you mean by "crank"? If it rotates but does not start that might be a fuel delivery problem. If it clicks or does not make any sound that might be either starter or ignition key problem. Good luck, Sam
  11. On my 1992 Loyale they go on top. Small spring is on top. But I may be mistaken. Good luck, Sam
  12. I want to get rid of my 92 Loyale. I live in the San Diego area. Let me know if you are interested. Sam
  13. Your problem is roach auto. They lure us with low prices and make us buy junk. Try to return it (I doubt it will work though!) They will make you pay for return shipping. But if you are stuck you can always take the alternator apart and verify the integrity of brushes. I am pretty sure they are worn out. Good luck, Sam
  14. Buckle them up and they will not slip under the seat. If your passenger looses it is his or her fault...
  15. During braking the temperature will rise and the moisture will boil and turn into steam. Steam's hydraulic characteristics are not what we need in the braking system. The pedal may go down to the floor. Changing the brake fluid is a cheap/inexpensive insurance. Good luck, Sam
  16. Yes, post it in the "Older Generation" As far as I know they have different distributors for different years. So make sure you are testing it with the correct one. There is a transistor mounted next to the coil. You may also need to get a known good one and test it. Good luck, Sam
  17. +1. When my boot broke I was not able to find a replacement and bought a cheap Chinese ball joint for five dollars. Needles to say that the boot broke again in six months. The quality ones will last you but they are not cheap. My dealer charges more than fifty box for them. Good luck, Sam
  18. I believe the hoses are 5/8. I have failed the smog test once because I used regular hoses and I had to buy ones from the dealer. Not cheap! Good luck, Sam
  19. If you get no sound it might be a wiring problem. Check it you are getting power to the alternator solenoid. Good luck, and stay away from that dealer! Sam
  20. I will have to go through my tons of paperwork this weekend but I am pretty sure I know where it is. I will post it as soon as I find it. Sam
  21. We used to have a lot of threads about pinning here. Try to search. Unfortunately that is how EA82 works, Subaru even have a TSB on pinning. Keep your engine well tuned. Make sure your PCV valve is clean. Check out vacuum hoses. That is what will lower your pinning. I do have occasional pinning sometime. The better the gas the more pinning I get. Good luck, Sam
