  1. are you ready (hehehe) http://bbs.legacycentral.org/index.php http://www.wrxforum.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/index.php?s= http://www.ausubaru.com/ http://www.i-club.com/ http://www.wrxhackers.com/index.php http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=EJ20T&btnG=Google+Search that should keep you busy :>) 583 more sites.... read and don't be aftaid to ask more questions either. We all have different "learning curves" sometimes mine looks like a switchback in the Rockies
  2. LOL Oh Skipper thank you. I needed a good one recently! Big ole Thanks
  3. Huh, thats wierd. All the EJ series engines I have ever seen were dual cams not single cams..... How odd. (granted I haven't seen too many but, yeah just odd to learn that some of the EJ's were SOHC)
  4. I'm all for gals knowing more about this stuff, and not just for cars either..... as a reference point....long ago my Mom taught me how to ride a motorcycle. so keep it up and enjoy the rides.
  5. is *that* a hint? from the great white north?
  6. special tools I would suggest are as follow - order not important but, having all four is! 1. sense of humour 2. (over)active imagination 3. brain that is operational 4. access to friends, USMB, and other like sources of course a #5. would be some patience but that with a hammer is optional too... so I hear.
  7. This Sounds LIKE CPC. Kinda brownish in color and has a slightly sweet after aroma? Corrosion Preventative Compound. Strong stuff. HAd a MSDS list of some scary side effects too! But eyes watering from it? hmmmmm, don't remember that. Maybe it was something else then. hmm.
  8. sorry about last night 78turbobrat. I was hoping between 3 houses and helping unload an engine for Mike when you were about to goto bed, had to get the truck back to robbie and completely forgot to post before going to bed. Sorry dude. And as for the delay in responses... (RE: myossfeece comment about ignoring a thread) some folks don't hop on every day. (rolls eyes at myself) as I have been on everyday for a while now..... but enough about that I have been searching the board..... .... oops will check when i get back... gotta run.
  9. According to a couple member of this board... (blushing now) I umm, " too strong already and should not got to the gym anymore." my "Hand tightened" or "snug" with the ratchet is ahhhh, this sound effect for them to move"uuugghhhh, Arrrrrgghhh!" (smirks) Gotta work on this more.....
  10. the bablefish is a good translator. But, if the second picture site is what your asking about I believe its in the archives as Norwiegian.... or maybe Finnish?
  11. Hmmmm NC. I was looking at UNC too, but half to admit, that the contact person was rather curt(sp) and very cold as if I was wasting his time. Rather ironic for a contact person to be that way if they are the point of first contact for grad school info and pointers and stuff.....this was not just the first contact it was over the several contacts... ehhhh I'm looking at UK, and USC and a few others for Physics. I am a transitioner type of person. Got the BA's in Technical Theatre and a General studies second BA at the same time. (the 3 topics for the Gen studies were: History, physics and RTVF) Chapel Hill is nice area too. Have a high school gal-friend that went to PITT. and family that went to two different Indiana schools. :>) I'd suggest legacy sedan or wagon and make sure you get one with Cruise control that works too. your radio situation shouldn't even be an issue to be honest because you can get a 6 disc-changer head unit to slide right in and also it comes with the tape player as well.... i got one for $130 on ebay. but as it went into my EA82 wagon i also had to buy the wire connector to convert the older wagons wiring to the newer connector the legacys all have. theres some usless trivia... how's that work for ya?
  12. Okami and I have 2 engines currently "disassembled" and we can show you the process on a block thats out and on a banch at his place. of course...... you could email me directly and i can give you the phone number over there too. that way the suggestions and sites of the specifics Arc is refering too can be made visually obvious and a little get-together could occur too.
  13. I'll suggest a Legacy wagon. second generation. its all about the wrenching factor. Why do I say this? Simple, unless your wanting to learn the ins and outs of your car much like a hobby or (cough cough obsession) like others here (grins at others and admits towards self too a bit).... so if your gonna let me assume your mechanical skills are afraid of grease and getting dirty then ell... lets just suggest the Legacy wagon design and then go do your research and report back with what you think. BTW use the search engine on this site for spec's and problems with this or that model and the like.... you'd be surprised at the data mining your able to accomplish from this and other sites. best of luck and I'll just say this.... I'm not shying you away from the EA82 or 81 series models (circa 1980 to 1992 ish) i own 2 Plus of them soooo yeah. nuff said? coolness so what you hoping to go into studying?
  14. that means your not far from "Naughty Hatchet" correct?
  15. last time i wasn't able to because of a blown air sturt. this time I'll wait and see *if* I'll be up in the neighborhood. (got family to visit in the Tri-cites, Battle Creek, Lansing, and maybe Grand Rapids areas *if/when* I make it up there.)
  16. Astrophotography, B&W SLR, B&W developing, Figure drawing, charcoal, pastel, graphite, and ink. Prefer H2O color, set design and sceneic painting for theatre setups and stage designs. Murals, backdrops, and props. Lighting design, sound design is alot of fun too. huge portfolio that needs organizing from all the years of study and classes taken and plays worked on. Almost none are scanned or photographed either. sorry. painting with a brush at the end of a 4 foot bamboo stick is ALOT of FUN! have several schecth books for pencil and pen work all the way back to high school, during the NAvy days too. Costume design and building as well. Hense the Tech theatre degree i just recieved this last May. Of course there is the welding classes i took (here in college) to expand the fun i learned from grampa and uncle dave while in high school with thier welding equipment that is now mine stored up at the parents in michigan. Its fun and i do miss it.
  17. i guess i was one of the incorrect guesses then? i mean the "close but, no cigar person"?
  18. that looks in really good condition. as for the leaking HH, I gotta sk. Is it leaking from a threaded hose port? if so then maybe, its not seating smothly? Maybe its threaded - what is that compression fitting called? The hollow nut that the pipe is in? Maybe there is stuff in the threads of it? imho the leak has ment to me that the pipe isn't in tight enough. Now, I'm not talking reefing down on it like a tank is pulling at it, but just a little more "umpfff". okay? sides that, brake fluid is an amazing cleaner of the break parts and it may surprise you if you tryed cleaning its surfaces with the liquid and a brush to see how good of shape the HH actually is in. of course this means actually having it in a place you can scrub on it and then whipe it off and - if possible use a air hose to blow dry it too. just a thought .
  19. Here's a odd situation. Looking thru 3 sperate manuals (2 FSM) and We can't figureout the torque spec's of the oil pump 5 bolts? The PSI sensor, the filter, the lower plugs, the pan gaskets, the h2o pump, even the cambelt covers have known torque specs. but not the oil pump ... tell me that's not wierd. so anyone care to find it and let me know? 1988 XT6 oil pump (BTW typing with a left hand mainly is kinda awkward now)
  20. heres a hint from a MPFI user. SPFI intakes will have a hose that goes into the EA82 intake parallel to the crankshaft and will be a long hose similar to the hose of an XT6 intake. (after the MAF to the aluminum manifold) the MPFI (exception is the coveted spider intake) will be a perpendicular vertical intake tube that has a molded plate with MPFI or Subaru FI molded into the plastic intake tube's top surface. Case in point to keep one thinking this way, its how you can tell its a turbo model as the turbo uses a aluminum perpendicular intake setup which is (basically speaking) the same as the MPFI intake. (that's why you can see the molded "Turbo" or "4wd Turbo" or "subaru Turbo" on its top serface. That work better for you? simple question, yes. stupid? no.
  21. What you don't want your wife in a picture? (tongue in cheek grin)
  22. found this old thread: "subject in this folder" was -->copper head gasket info from old USMB http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4467&highlight=head+gaskets+copper and because if this situation we are stopped at with the Lil Red wagon of Okamiichiban's. We are hoping to find out before the end of this weekend if they are still availible - first off and 2nd, can we afford getting two sets or just one set. AND how long the wait would be for recieving them.
  23. what i typed and what i naw see in the resent post above are no were near the same posting. what gives? I know this PC doesn't any virus issues...... and I don't see an "edit" tag in the bottom of the post. (grumbles) [sorry for the detour] what i did type(last time) was that I was patient enough to wait until.... what, Dec. 1st correct? hmmmmmm I guess I'll see what happens now.(rolls eyes)
