child seat anchor for 1987
BlueRidgeSE replied to BlueRidgeSE's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Looks like they only had them 89 and up from what the dealer is telling me. I ordered one and am going to try to find a spot or I am going to tap in somewhere. It will be better than nothing. Thanks:) -
Searched but can't find the location to install a child seat anchor kit for the teather strap. Now I am wondering if back in 1987 they even manufactured a location for the bolt to screw into? Anybody know or have advice. My car just runs around town but I'd like to install the teather strap if possible. Thanks

Roundeye , my car is also a 1987 carb.with only 86,000 miles. Now I see you car I need to tint my windows =)

ok, ok, I'll get it dirty for you asap. We just got 3 feet of snow in 48 hours so as soon as it is mild and the ground gets wet I'll find some good mud holes. BTW. It is a 3/3 BYB kit. and so far the Toyo's are solid, good snow traction and not noisy at all.(205-75-15)

Ok people, get used to me posting a bit more since I finally get my project lifted and ready for some fun. Now I just need to learn how to drive it properly and I'll be set. Big thanks to Patrick at Ozified for a great BYB lift kit and even better customer service! I wish there were more lifted subes in my area but it's ok being the only guy crazy enough to find a decent enough car and build it. Yes it's dual range and currently sporting 27inch Toyo AT's.

best model years for Subaru
BlueRidgeSE replied to sheps58's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
1990-94 Legacy. That engine won the world endurance competition plus I put that car up against any for long term reliability. Second is 93-01 Impreza. Consumer reports best pic more times, best with the 2.2L or do a WRX swap -
what's your plans for the car. Daily driver, offroad machine ??

Never run a Brat before but spent some time behind the wheel of an Eagle and it was a tough car. It probably wouldn't handle like the Sube though.

lift/mods/tires for my Soob. I missed the FAQ. . .
BlueRidgeSE replied to Tom63050's topic in Off Road
If you are only looking for a few inches why not look into some Forester suspension. Nice thing about subes is that alot of parts from others will work. That would be a pretty cheap solution for you IMO. -
I chose my 1987 Gl because I am a Subaru enthusiast who was tired of pulling my 1998 RS coupe up next to another clone WRX swapped car with the same mods that my family couldn't fit in and was expensive in speeding tickets. No more speeding tickets and my bumper will be up to the mirrors on a WRX plus DUAL RANGE 4WD

Thanks for the help. I will buy the WRX diff. and swap the parts as outlined in the FAQ section. (Do it Sidewayz, still looking for pug alloy lugs for my 15's, and some 14inch steel pug wheels if I come across some, Peugot parts in Canada are very scarce)

Sorry guys it's the rear LSD I am talking. I can get one from a local WRX swap shop. I know the guys and they said they have one that needs a reseal and it's out of an 02 WRX which I believe are 3.9 gearing. Finding Legacy turbo stub axles may not be too difficult where I am. It's about a 2 hour drive to get this WRX LSD so I don't want to get it unless it might work. I think they wanted $50 for it.
-
I've done a fair bit of reading and I know an early legacy turbo 3.9 LSD will fit into my 1987GL wagon d/r. I have easier access to a 3.9 LSD from a WRX. Does anyone know if this will fit or not, easy install ? Thanks:)

Ok, got 15x6 pugs today since I was able to score a set of four in good shape locally. If I run a 4 inch AA lift kit on my EA82 can I run 215-75-15 BFG A/T's without cutting or pounding. -

I want to lift my 1987 GL and want to hear from people who have different lifts. I have a set of 14" peugeot alloys lined up and do NOT want to have to do any fender trimming whatsoever. I am undecided about 3" or 4 " lifts so just looking for pros and cons here. Is there anyone with a 3 that wishes they'd gone 4 or the other way maybe. My original plan was 4" and running either 225-70-14 or 215-75 or 27x.8.5x14 . still undecided and I have no others to compare other than pictures. Just wondering if the extra inch height is justified or not. Cheers -
I did the whole GC8 1998 Subaru Impreza Coupe WRX swap track car thing and then 25 others started doing the same thing. I decided to be different and buy a EA82 and the lifting will commence soon. My friends all shake there heads at me, but when I pull into the lot when they are done and my car towers over them like a giant we'll see. Plus I want to take the family outdoors more and the dual range will get me where I want. Right now I am the crazy one of my group. It's all for fun and to enjoy being a car nut.

Depends what you mean by old school but lots of guys here have 1980's cars lifted if that's what you mean. Many would argue the old ones are the best. Keep looking as there is alot of info and links to be found around here.

I'm very excited and intend on looking after this car to preserve it. that said I will probably not keep it bone stock as I plan on doing some mild trail riding so 3" lift is in the works and some rubber. The main thing is to keep it off the salt covered Ontarion roads so the body stays clean and no rust. I'll take her out a few times in winter but save most of the driving for summer time when the road salt isn't such a problem. Buying this car was more about promising the guy I bought it from that I was going to look after it. I traded a 1995 Legacy LS wagon with 211,000kms and $500 to get it. (bought the legacy for $1000) That's Canadian money so I'd be about $1200 US into it. I work for a Subaru dealership so the seller thought it would be a good home for the car.
