  1. We are leaning towards the Outback anyway.... but I didnt want to leave out the Forester just incase there was something about it that made it a better deal....
  2. Wife wants another car so I am looking at 1998-2000 Outbacks and Foresters. Which is the better of the two?
  3. I used to own a 2002 Jetta 1.9TDI. The engine revs like a gasser and doesnt not drive like your dads diesel car. Im all for the 1.9TDI but you might try and seek a 1.9TD instead and no have to deal with the computer or other smog stuff. The 1.9TDI can be tuned to 150bhp and 300ftlbs and remain reliable.... if you want real power then look towards the 2.0TDI or a european V6 TDI... or the V10 TDI 500bhp and 1000ftlbs from an aluminum block diesel...
  4. The King of Engine Conversions into Vdubs. http://www.kennedyeng.com/
  5. Hi, 1992 Justy GL AWD. Engine is toast. The transmission was converted to a 5 speed manual. I do have an engine from an 1996 Geo Metro that is complete turn key. It is a 1000cc EFI engine. Just curious if the G10 has the same bolt pattern as the justy engine? I dont have the Justy at home yet. Still have to tow it some 150miles away... used to belong to my mom so its something I'd like to fix up and drive.. but when I went to the junk yard the engines look similar and the transaxles bellhousing looks the same. anyone know for sure?
  6. SvRex.... Do you think the same thing could be done with an 1990 Loyal with turbo into a Cabby?
  7. I did an update above in the original post. I think I explained it ok.. if not ask me to clarify... dont have pics... maybe I should have taken some... then again when the new starter comes in I will show what I did as a temp. patch. Did you guys see where I might also be getting a free 1992 Justy with a great body and interior?
  8. Ok... I have a list on things to check... its Sunday.... Im going to go thru the list and see if it I can get this thing fixed.... Thanks... I willl post if the problem is fixed and what was broken.... or will come back with other Q's.
  9. Oh.. forgot to add... it is a 5 speed manual transmission.
  10. We just picked up an 1989 GL from my sisternlaw. Its having issues during starting. When it does finally turn over it runs great and everything seems to work just fine. The issue is getting the engine to turn over. I can hear what sounds like the selniod kicking in when the key is turned. But in order to get the starter to work you have to turn it just enough (but not all the way) to make the starter get power. I have rocked the key several times and it just takes forever. What and how do I check to see what the problem is? How do I removed the Starter? Looked like the bolts are inside the bellhousing which means I have to pull the engine? UPDATE*******************UPDATE****************UPDATE Was the starter seleniod. I removed the starter and opened it up. The main power terminal (L shaped) into the seleniod was worn down to almost nothing. I pulled both sides and installed the better of the two onto the positive cable side. Then I took the bad one and flipped it and cut a notch for the bolt to fit and then trimmed the other end. Bolted it in... tested good... placed back into the soobie.... starts every time now. My brother-n-law is bringing down a new starter in a few weeks... this one should work until then... Also he might be giving us an 1992 Justy awd w/5speed and another justy engine with parts.
