87 gl 3-door auto to d/r
Dylan86GL10 replied to kayakertom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The only thing I faced pulling the 3AT was a hidden ground wire on top of the trans. Couldn't figure out what was caught and ended up breaking it. http://dodgeneon.net/gallery2/v/gl10/album/ -
I'm putting the parts together for my EA82T now. Its basically just like a carb system except add a pressure regulator before the carb. Here in the states, LPG is much less common in vehicles but still done. Also due to the recent Gulf of Mexico hurricanes, LPG is more expensive than it used to be. Your economy will actually go down slightly because LPG has less BTU than gas and it displaces air as a vapor. But it is cheaper than gas and you can extend your oil changes (go AMSOIL!) which will also save money. Ebay is full of conversion parts here in the US but unfortunately, most of them are from fleet v8 conversions. I have a couple spare parts (mostly regulators, maybe a carb) if anyone in the US is interested. Heres a great starting point: http://impco.ws http://impco.ws/download/IMC2005C.pdf

Radio Shack did stock that exact light here. I ended up mounting a slightly larger lamp by modifying the black plastic retainer. -
I'm looking for a used 200 for my Gl10 now. Isn't the 225 more of an air filter setup and not that get for blow through turbo?

How is your old motor doing

Not if you use the extended drain intervals. It can be cheaper in the long run. Because oils are supposed to cover up mechanical problems? -

I've put full synthetic in cars from 0 miles to 150,000 miles with out any issues. The theory is that since sythetic cleans your motor out, it dissolves crud that is currently holding the oil in (at compromised seals). I would think Seafoam would behave similarily. Has anyone ever had a problem with Seafoam? Its going into my Soob as soon as that motor swap is done. The donor motor has 80,000 miles on it. I don't have any first hand experience at 200K+ which is more common with these motors. -

I'm an AMSOIL dealer and they use Oil Analyzers for the mail in kits. You can order direct from http://www.oaitesting.com/prices.htm as well -

Turbo Dodges (84-89) usually have at least four on the passenger strut tower. I've never had any fail. -

Ears perk up, head turns sideways. Lemme get the brown beast running on the turbo motor so I can sell you on the MS.

Just got it all from grossgary so its going into my wagon in the next couple days. In fact Gary supplied the turbo motor too!

Catalytic converter
Dylan86GL10 replied to Newsoobowner's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Virginia has visaul inspection so you could spew as much emissions as a tractor trailer but as long as you have the right equipment (performing improperly) your goldedn. Pretty stupid in my opinion. Now for a really dumb question, why does Subaru have two cats from the factory? Every car I've ever owned came with one cat. I even think the newer WRX has three cats!!!!!!!!!! :-\ Turbo shmurbo, the SRT-4 has one cat, my ancient turbo Charger had one cat, Ford turbo one cat, etc.... -
EA82t in a EA81 car, what needs to be done?
Dylan86GL10 replied to Phizinza's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
I saw your post on msefi.com I would just build a MS harness and not worry about any of the stock turbo wiring. -
Gary, Things I would check, it seems that one at least some ECU's, the ECU supplies not only the fuel pump relay trigger (ground) but also the pump ground. If you check out the wiring diagram you'll see what I mean. Also there are a number of switches in the harness that could impact starting. Not sure what you have setup in the harness as far as the boost switch? I think the later cars got rid of the overboost switch and incorporated into the MAF so that probably doesn't apply to you. I would start with ensuring that the fuel pump kicks on, on any of the ECUs that appear to not be working. If not ground both the relay and the (-) on the pump. If you have a big enough Vac leak on a MAF car it won't start as it will be running much leaner than it should. This is a dumb question but is the turbo MAF and MPFI MAF the same?

One thing to watch out for, in some year they changed from the pulley being attached through the center acorn nut to 4 12mm bolts outside the acorn nut. I _think_ I have an 86 pulley at home if Gary's won't work for you.

EA82T Intercooler Qs

Garner, you using the stock distributor or edis? -
Tie the boost guage into any intake port past the throttle body. I'd highly recommend the Innovate LC-1 or LM-1 for A/F. The cheap narrow band sensors and guages don't do a turbo car justice and you should be weary about tuning by them.

Nissan 280ZX Turbo Injector Swap *DONE PROOF*

Interesting, I wonder what's so unspecial about the tip design that they don't act like other fuel injectors.
