I tried a few of the E-bay "WHITE LIGHTS" with the blue tint. Nope, no brighter and actually darker since it makes "blue" light on a black road. I even tried 100W high beams and according to my photo light meter, they put out as much light as standard 65W high beams. I have Silver Star bulbs now, got them on sale. Those European bulbs are better but hard to get.

Anyone have any useful headlight bulb information. Purchased some of the "Super White Light" bulbs on E-bay. 55W H1 There must be a psychology about them. I know for a fact (used my photo light meter) that the bulb claims are fake. A 55 watt super white bulb puts out the same light meter reading as my "yellow" standard bulbs. Either direct or reflective reading. No difference in light, just color. The road did "seem" darker. Blueish light and black asphalt make for dark road. The road reflectors did light up a bit more since "white" light was reflecting off of them. I have some pictures, light meter readings and a few different bulb selections I will post in a week or so. Any comments or suggestions from anyone? I'm not looking to put in those 100 watt off road light and melt the housing. Maybe 80watts in the high beam and Silver Star bulbs. They are on sale at Advanced Auto Parts with a rebate!

Two words: Eclipse Turbo with mods they can do just that. Of course that is why they are running through 4 clutches a year. I owned a 91 2WD turbo a number of years back. I joined a "E-mail" club as forums didn't exist yet. That was one FAST car that got 28MPG. That is why the Eclipse has now has a V6, warranties and turbos didn't get along.

Check your manual. My wife took the OB to the food store, only took the key. Locking the door will set the alarm, it went off and someone that owned a Subaru told her to cycle the key 4 times (check manual) alarm then goes off. This is to prevent someone cutting your battery connection and stealing the car.

Just picked up my OB on Firday evening. I paid for plugs... they charged me for labor? But hey, a $54 bill for 4 new pistons and rings. It is quiet.. really quiet. I had to stop and get something from the back and while getting into the car... could not tell if the engine was running. NO noise at startup at 40 degrees... none. No more tapping when accelerating. Since they had to crack the engine I got a new rear oil seal and that should stop the oil leak from the back of the oil pan. That leak hits the exhaust manifold shield and makes the car smell when at stop lights. Got a bunch of other seals/gaskets since they cracked the engine. So at 51K I have basically a new engine. (new timing belt and belt tensioner from first try) Gas mileage is still great so the timing is right. 42 miles and everything is good If you want to hear my piston slap... go to http://www.butkus.org Look for Subaru Piston Slap between the two rulers. Right click it and SAVE the file if it plays too fast. It needs Quicktime. It's 1.2megs. It suppose to be sound only but doesn't seem so.

There a way to get a CD copy of those files? -
My '01 Outback was just in for that timing belt tensioner. They replaced it to try to get rid of the taping noise. It didn't, the dealer will now change all 4 pistons as it is engine slap. Car has 51K and everything being done under powertrain warranty. Did you ever have it in for the taping noise and did you keep the paper?" this is a known problem.
