  1. I thought all 4WD tires were supposed to be 185/70/13.
  2. Subaru addictions are contagious. In our family, my mom bought a Subaru. Then my brother just had to buy a Subaru. Then I just had to buy a Subaru. There's just something about them.
  3. Anytime really. If I need to be around, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday evening works. My days are pretty full lately.
  4. 3rd is 1.195. Its not too big of a jump. It is however a fairly large jump from 2nd to 3rd. Its hard to find a gear for cruising between 20-30mph. 2nd seems to rev it too high, and 3rd seems to lug it. I'll get by. I'm gonna keep the stock boost. I really don't want to blow my engine since its my Daily Driver right now. The only thing that made it fine to have it down for the three days while I swapped transmissions was that Jeff let me borrow his Death Wedge.
  5. Drove it today. Its much quicker with the 4spd than the crappy 3AT. I'm glad I did it. Its much quicker off the line. Highway gearing is much nicer with the 0.769 4th gear. Speedo cable needs to be lubricated as the speedo needle bounces back and forth. Still don't have any interior pieces. I duct taped the rubber boot to the floor to cut down on noise and to keep the engine heat from flowing into the cabin. Also still need to rob the 3.9 diff from my brother's rotted out 3 door so I can actually make use of 4WD when I get the lever mounted. Going to junkyards this weekend, hopefully I can get the interior pieces and be done!
  6. Look for a Red EA81 Turbo wagon scotting around in Golden. I'll be driving it. Wave if you see me! Whereabouts in Golden are you at? I live around Ford and 7th, opposite side of town that Keith lives at.
  7. M-F is bad for me with school and all that. If you do it on Tuesday or Thursday I *may* be able to get work off.
  8. The 4spd is in my wagon, and it'll be there! Its missing the interior pieces, and I duct taped the rubber boot on to seal the whole, but its fun to drive now!
  9. Turbo Outlet Gasket: 44022GA220 Turbo Inlet Gasket: 44022GA210
  10. I already have a WRX Intercooler just waiting to go on!
  11. Chances are they just had an old Nissan or Subaru key and tried it. My mom's 99 Legacy key will start my 84 wagon. My 88 Wagon's key would start my 86 XT. My 84 Wagon's key turned the lock on one of the cars in the junkyard (tried it out of curiosity...) These lock cylinders get so worn out after awhile, that they start with any key that closely matches the original. I compared my mom's 99 leg key to my 84 key, and if you rounded all of the sharp points, they'd look exactly alike except that the leg has an extra bumpy thing on the top.
  12. I almost finished my 4spd D/R conversion today on my EA81T wagon. YAY. It was basically the same as hatchsub's 5spd conversion on his 2wd. Largest difference I noticed was the hole in the transmission tunnel has to be cut significantly larger. Also, you have to drill holes to mount the 4wd lever (I haven't done this yet... don't have a drill) Also, there's no place for the down pipe to bolt to on the transmission. Hopefully, I don't get any ill effects from this. Something *could* be rigged. I still need to: Bolt the heat shielding back onto the turbo Bolt the sway bar on Dremel out the hole more (the shifter just barely hits the front and left side) Attach the speedo cable Attach the 4WD lever Wire the reverse lights and 4WD indicator Find a good set of the interior pieces... right now its just a hole in the floor. Tested it through first gear and reverse with it on the jack stands, so it all works good! Special thanks goes out to Jeffast for helping me drop the 3AT... He even cut his finger helping me. Awww...
  13. Also, be ready to flip that switch off in the case of an accident. A reason the computer controls the fuel pump is so it can cut fuel when it doesn't see an ignition signal. Thus preventing fires and such in the case of an accident.
  14. That's nice and all, but the EA81 dash kit is just a plate that covers the original stereo hole and the lower part has a cut out with two holes for a shaft radio... Its not designed at all for a DIN stereo (in fact, its actually narrower) You can just cut a DIN sized hole in your console, however there's really not a whole lot of room on the stock console anyways to put a DIN stereo. There's just to little clearance between the heater core and the stereo. Some shorter stereos can fit, but its a pain. One thing you might look at is using the EA82 dash kit and screw it into your console, this will space out the stereo enough to clear the heater core. However, depending where you place, the shifter will hit it.
  15. The XT6 MC is the same as the rest of the EA82s. If you need a larger MC, Gen 1 non-ABS Legacy ones bolt up and are a bit larger. Just get one with the same number of ports as the early legs had the hill holder too.
  16. Crutchfield's kit for the EA81 does not help it all. Its so you can fit shafted radios in the stock console...
  17. Sweet ride! Shoulda gone with an XT shifter. That would've been cool. Is that large Tach really necessary?
  18. Its okay Phil, your wagon wouldn't stand a chance next to the coolness of my wagon. Your wagon would probably fall apart from all the coolness waves my wagon emits.
  19. Glad to hear its back safe and sound. Most of these stories don't end so well.
  20. I'm actually with GD here. The EA82T is a great motor, if well cared for. The fact that it sounds like there was or is cooling issues makes it suddenly a large problem. Also, the 2WD is not very desirable (though, it can be put up with). The final straw is the 3AT... its a piece of crap. Gearing sucks, gas mileage sucks, reliability sucks, they just plain suck. With where you live, you should be able to easily find a better deal on a Subaru then that.
  21. It should run without the O2 sensor. Whether it'll run after you hook the fuel pump up to the EJ harness and change the plugs, only one way to find out.
  22. The carbon fiber makes them... rice. But, rice could be... cool?
  23. Sounds like your mounts. Check out both the engine mounts and the trans mounts. The trans mounts usually cause a more forward to back motion, so I would think your engine mounts are suspect.
  24. Shifter Wobble and the Thunk are not likely related. The wobble is likely caused by the shifter bushings. They're fairly cheap to replace. Contact your local Subaru Dealer.
