  1. Since you already have an EA81T and won't have to spend any more money for an SPFI swap or an EJ22 swap... Go for the EA81T. For only 95HP, it scoots well Just keep it from overheating, and you won't have to worry about any head gasket problems. If you still have the EA81T oil cooler, keep that.
  2. Rear drums, but its definitely from the front p/s disc. I'll double check to make sure everything down there is tight. I loosened a lot of the stuff to change the axle (my first time, and couldn't figure out how to do it), so I could've missed something.
  3. Best to start your own thread instead of hijacking someone else's.
  4. I started getting a clunking noise while braking. Then I broke a DOJ on my axle. I thought that was the clunking noise. Replaced the axle, but the clunking noise is still there. What could it be/what do I look for? Thanks
  5. Sweet score! I really dig that custom tailgate. Same for the antenna. My cassette deck doesn't fit cuz of the antenna placement.
  6. Considering you do the test with all four spark plugs removed, I don't think you have too much worry of the engine starting. But yeah, disconnect the fuel source that way you minimize the amount of unburned fuel you're dumping into the cylinders. Your cat con will like you for it.
  7. Carb or SPFI manifold? Feel free to use the search feature. A quick search for EA81 Manifold Swap revealed: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=22005 Also, in the future, a better subject than "Help" would be beneficial.
  8. The tradition here is to find Nissan 280zx/300zx injectors. He's stating that there are plenty more injectors such as the ones from an RX-7 instead of the 280zx/300zx that will fit.
  9. Toss a match into the cylinder and burn the pencil up.
  10. +1 for scanning the instructions. About to remove the A/C system in my wagon. Granted the turbo setup is a little different, but it should give me an idea. As for value, its entirely dependent upon what someone wants to pay. I would just post the stuff up, and say "make offer" until you get what you think is fair for your time.
  11. The two radiators are different dimensions. Compare the two next to each other and see if it will fit. I seem to think the loyale one is an inch taller and an inch narrower... I don't think it fits under the rad support. I don't know what XTs were standard with 2 row. Seem to think a FT4WD 4EAT Turbo would be though. Seems to be which Leones/Loyales came with a two row.
  12. Actually, that is not the case. Once past the turbo, the amount of air molecules that will be there, are already there. Cooling of the air will not draw in a significant amount of molecules. Instead, the pressure drops. This can be observed if you hook up a boost gauge before and after the intercooler. Not to say you don't gain any power, you do. However, that power gain is from a cooler intake charge.
  13. Not the publication number. I'm not sure when SOA stopped printing part numbers on their books, yours may be just afterwards. On the front cover, there's a number maybe?
  14. Does your wiring and troubleshooting manual have a part number? I like wiring diagrams. It would be on the front: IE: MSA118 is the 84 FSM.
  15. Why don't we do a big Subaru show here, and call it, Rocky Mountain Subaru Show or something One could only wish.
  16. 180 should be fine. I've seen them as 185 also. Personally, I'd just go the dealer and get an OEM T-Stat. Numerous people here have had problems with aftermarket T-Stats. If there's a dealer near by, most they'll charge is you is like $15, and you know you got the right one.
  17. It doesn't actually say a WRX head is used anywhere. The fact it says inline Subaru 4 valve head was used makes me think they used an inline 4 four from Japan.
  18. Would have loved to join you guys! That looked like loads of fun. I could have made it but: I broke a front axle friday night. Was two blocks from home, and drove them in RWD with the A/T. (I know, bad on the transfer clutch) Don't have the new one in yet.
  19. Its a bit more involved. SPFI swap you don't need to swap entire engines. Need the Turbo cross member so the crossover pipe can clear. (could cut the existing cross member, then reinforce it, but the cross member is easy to remove) Need the Turbo exhaust up to the rear cat. Rear cat and back are close enough to the same. Need to use the Turbo engine with most everything attached. Can reuse your accessories (alt, p/s, A/C comp, etc) Need the Turbo engine harness and ECU.
  20. If its an EA81, you don't have timing belts. If you have timing belts, its an EA82, and its non interference. What vehicle is this for?
  21. You should have 23 spine DOJs. As long as the splines on the stub aren't completely worn down, I'd say you were fine.
  22. That much? WOW http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8037257323 Get 'em while they're still available!
  23. Scott: Read this thread: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=67990 Shawn pretty much outlines everything for an EA81T to go to a 4spd D/R, then there's some discussion on 5spd D/R or even a turbo 5spd. ALL EA81s have 23 spline inboards, regardless of turbo or not. All EA82 Turbos are 25 spline inboards.
