EA82t power differences in different countries

Explain? I'm still confused. -
EA82t power differences in different countries
mikeshoup replied to Phizinza's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
They have to have a completely different computer control. EDM XTs don't have O2 Sensors! Dunno how they get away with that. -
Why not purchase from MWE? Everyone else is saying they're top notch too. http://ccrengines.com/mwe/

I plugged EGR on Carb model ...
mikeshoup replied to bgd73's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I don't think an operating EGR will hurt your gas milage either. As was stated earier, if it affects gas milage any at all, its negligible. The purpose of it is to create a cooler combustion temperature and reduce NOx emissions (which it does, btw). My wagon still had EGR and I could get upwards 35mpg on the highway. I doubt removing EGR would give me any more help. -
If you're using the EA82 Tranny, you can just use the EA82 flywheel/clutch combo, right? Shouldn't be any more slip than you get with an EA82 behind it. I say go for it.

what year models EA82 have carb vs. FI?
mikeshoup replied to idosubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My 86 FSM shows it only on 2WD DLs. Maybe this isn't so in the real world? -
As long as its manual, it should be fine.

Run dual VE tables on Megasquirt I'd like to do that.

SPFI was out in 86 (maybe even 85). 2WD DLs had SPFI. In 87, its a 50/50 chance you get FI. Not sure what models have it. In 88, its all FI or nothing. -
Central locking door system
mikeshoup replied to mazlik's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The driver's door has no actuator to move the locks on its own. I would install an actuator on the driver's door lock, and then have the remote activate that actuator, which then would activate the actuators in the other door locks. -
Maybe with rejetting?

I'm with numbchux here. If ethanol is such a strong solvent that will eat your fuel lines and your injector, I'd think the 10% ethanol mixtures we run here in the states would start to wear the fuel components much faster. Yes, ethanol is a strong solvent, but I would think the equipment in an SPFI soob could handle it as long as its not pure.

The Final Cut. And Thanks
mikeshoup replied to robertwheeler's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Definitely agreed. -
$200. That wagon has seen a rough life. I know these engines will last forever, but 365,000 may be near the upper limit. Also, since the tranny grinds going into first, I'd suspect the synchros are wearing out.

Electrical Expert? (engine ground)
mikeshoup replied to bgd73's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Aluminum wire is not used any more for a reason. It will start to oxidize and crystallize over. Aluminum wire becomes very brittle in short times. They don't use it in houses anymore for a reason. BTW: Aluminum and Copper have close to the same resistance. That's how you get away with grounding everything to your engine block. -
It will do that. E85 burns close to 10:1 instead of gasoline's 14.7:1. At closed loop, you're fine because the O2 sensor will force the ECU to correct, however at WOT and open loop, you won't be fine. Plus, in order to do it right, you'd have up the fuel pressure, and probably get larger injectors. The largest problem is E85 just requires more fuel to run.

The Final Cut. And Thanks
mikeshoup replied to robertwheeler's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Good to hear its working out. I'll give it to Honda, they build a reliable machine as well. I've seen them go just as far as a Subaru. Maybe not the same places, but they'll go as far. -
Yeah, anything turbo had 'em. If you have 4WD, you want 'em from a 4WD Turbo, non-sedan. If you have 2WD, you want 'em from anything 2WD Turbo. Same thing as Bgd said, if by "who", then I misunderstood. Check the for sale forum. There's like 4 people who have rear disks.

Run a Sooobie on Water? ...
mikeshoup replied to Davalos's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Its BS. Its physically impossible. They spent lots of time saying that it defies laws of science, and yet they never explain how negatively charged water works. They never showed where their water was coming from. Yes, you saw lots of clear liquid, but they never show them pouring it out of a faucet, etc. Its absurd. -

Basically, what kbd says, is mods that have really no purpose at all, is considered rice. "Performance Taillights", they're rice. A) Altezzas don't really look good, They're just a waste of money because they really don't offer anything over the stock lights. An engine swap is a mod, but it has a purpose. More powA. Rice you see mods that only make the car look fast, when the car really isn't. Get your rice terminology correct here. Just because our cars are japanese doesn't mean we should do what the other japanese 'street racer' boys are doing. I don't want altezzas on any of my stuff.

85 Brat: 4-speed to>> 5-speed
mikeshoup replied to Born_a_Brat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
We actually briefly covered this in this thread: http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=67990 Ignore the automatic conversion stuff. From what I gathered though, use an EA82 Driveshaft, or have the EA81 one piece lengthened. bratsrus1 has a nice kit that has a modified crossmember that will allow the 5spd d/r to physically fit without bashing the trans tunnel. Also has stuff so you can keep your stock linkages. Makes things look stock inside. Everything else should be good. -
86 Also shows a 3door coupe with a 5 spd pt4wd D/R, 3.9 rearend, and 1.2 low range. Seems the 3 door coupes were chock full of differentness.
-
Never say never... My 88 FSM shows an SPFI 3AT 3 Door Coupe with a 3.9 rear end. Sedan and wagon though have a 3.7 rear end.
