  1. 88 GL Wagon w/ 5spd D/R and SPFI 65 is around 3000RPM. It gets around 30mpg highway, 25 mpg city
  2. If this is indeed an EA81 hatch, this info will be helpful to you: http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=67990 How do you tell if its an EA81 Hatch? If it looks like: Its an EA81 Hatch If it looks like: Its an EA82 Coupe The Coupes are often called Hatchbacks, so that's why we have to verify yours is a hatchback.
  3. May want to check out a dealership. It may be cheaper than you'd expect. The tailgate handles aren't something that break regularly I'd suspect. It might be hard to find an after market replacement.
  4. I noticed that EA81Ts have tons of different decals that say Turbo along the side. My wagon don't have no decals, and I want to see some pictures of other EA81T Turbo decals so I can possibly have some made for mine. So post your Turbo Decal pics!
  5. It is, my dealer told me that the one I bought for my 84 is the same PCV valve they use until 2002.
  6. I wouldn't trust either of those sites. They both claim to be the same company, though the second link says: This page is hosted free, courtesy of 1ASPHost.com, a Dotster brand. Copyright © 2006 Dotster, Inc. All rights reserved. Sounds like a scam if you ask me.
  7. Replace those intake gaskets. If its leaking that badly, it may be creating a huge vacuum leak. Next, I'd pull those timing covers off and make sure the belts didn't skip a tooth or something. If a belt is a tooth off, it'll run piss poor, but it'll run.
  8. The EA82T controls fast idle using the AAV (Axillary Air Valve). It sits on the thermostat housing and has two wires going to it. I'm not too sure how it works. The 86 FSM says this: Sounds like, just give it power from the fuel pump relay circuit, and it takes care of it for you.
  9. MS sounds good, though its out of my budget for a while. I just wanna get the Turbowagon running good. About ready to just run wires for the MAF straight back to the ECU to rule out wiring.
  10. Aw, its my wagons littler brother. I love the look of Gen 2 coupes.
  11. You need a program that can resize photos, and compress them further. Personally, I use The Gimp for that, but it does more as its a image manipulation program. Get the windows version at: http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/ One you get the program, open the picture and under the Image menu is scale image. 800 wide is usually plenty big for teh internet. Then, go to file->Save As. Save it as a jpeg, and a window pops up allowing you to select compression. Click "Show Preview in Image Window", then adjust the compression until you're under 50kb. At 800x600, you should already be under it. Its a bit large of a program though. I don't use windows (I'm a linux junkie), so maybe one of the windows guys can tell you what program they use.
  12. Perhaps MS is what I need on the turbowagon to get rid of this stupid flapper MAF problems. I've been doing reading on MS, and it actually doesn't look all that hard to set up. An A/F gauge would be very helpful I think. From reading about it, you'd need an 87+ TPS, as the 85-86 TPSs don't have a varying potentiometer. Apart from that, everything else should hook up. Add MAP sensor and IAT sensor, delete MAF, then you can either add the GM temp sensor, or recalibrate MS for the CTS already on your intake. Wouldn't be too hard if you don't mind wires. Even then, the wiring isn't difficult.
  13. If you want to put an electric fan in, the Gen2s with A/C had an electric fan in front of the water pump that fits nice in front of the motor on EA82s. Don't get him started on 5 bearings vs 3 bearings. He refuses to believe that 5 main bearings is good for anything. He'd never get an EJ for that reason...
  14. Really? Nitrogen? I used Helium to fill mine up. My car starts to lift off the ground at high speeds. Guess that's not safe now, is it?
  15. +1 Diagonising the EA81T MAF issue is near impossible without good wiring diagrams. The 86 FSM I have only helps so much. The check connectors are totally different, as well as wire routing. Plus there's other stuff FSMs help with that this board can't. Plus, its right there. Don't need to ask questions on the USMB if you come across a problem.
  16. It should be noted, the 1-wire knock systems (87+) have the knock control built into the ECU.
  17. You should see the CEL when you turn the key to on, but don't start. Its one of the lights below the gauge cluster.
  18. Sure you're doing it right? Go to the website, click "Have a part number?" at the top bar. Go to box 2 labeled search by part number. Should be straight forward. Also, any dealer can get you them. I just found it cheapest through this online dealer. Also Spiffy: From what we could tell, that 81 FSM I shipped you is not available through SOA anymore. So keep that baby.
  19. FSM - Factory Service Manual The part number from the thread over at xt6.net for an 83 is: MSA5T83116 And subyluvr says they're still stocked. Also, the 82 FSMs are still available according to subyluvr: MSA5T82115
  20. This stuff works wonders on your blinkers: http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=6
  21. The Knock Control Unit from any 85-86 EA82T should fit. I think even the MPFI non-Turbos have the same knock control unit. XTs just fit them in a different location.
  22. I usually just double clutch if I need to go into first. This is because the first gear syncro on the wag is wearing out, and I can usually time it right to just pop it in.
