  1. Isn't there an XT6 owner in the land down under running ATF in his and has yet to have a problem? Also makes me wonder, how many uneducated XT6 owners out there are running with ATF and have yet to see ill-effects?
  2. Got the PM, I just have to search through our (half-)garage to find it. Been busy as of late.
  3. Reminds me, I need to pull rear shoulder belts from a Loyale for the wagon. My passengars and I would feel safer with shoulder belts. The wagon has sort of become the unofficial caravan of the band after football games... The back seat gets used quite often.
  4. Its a switch that tells the ECU when the throttle is closed. I dunno what the ECU does with this though.
  5. If you need a wiper motor and arm, I have at least the wiper motor (dunno about the arm?) off the back of my wagon's old hatch. Worked just fine. If you can use it, and want it (its from an 88 wagon), I'll give it to you for the cost of shipping. Let me know.
  6. This thread is about a FRONT LSD. So yeah, it'd do quite a bit, even if not in 4WD mode.
  7. I've never ran VINs on either of the soobs I own. That'd be great if you could! I'll PM you the VINs. Its always nice to know you're the second person to ever own a car. The White XT6 I had I was the third owner, but the first person owned it for 1 year. Gave me a nice feeling.
  8. Carb/SPFI block isn't going to have the crankcase breather, or a place for the knock sensor. The hole is there, just have to tap it. Keep it cool under all circumstances. You increase your chances for blowing head gaskets by doing this.
  9. Actually, it existed in a 3AT form on the GL-10 turbo... At least the 88FSM shows. WAY too tall if you ask me. Personally, I'd rather have an XT built up like mad. Still very light, and the lowest drag out of any of the soobs. Plus teh wedge is cool.
  10. Should be okay if you buy an aftermarket dash kit. They usually space out the radios enough that you wouldn't have a problem fitting most CD players in there.
  11. Great idea with that window frame stuff. That thing looks like it'd stay in there during an earthquake. Looks like one could also probably use the factor subaru plastic cover over the radio, cut a hole in it big enough for the radio, and fabricate some mounting brackets onto the radio for a more streamlined look. I agree on those AC Delco radios being tough and lasting a long time. At least they last a bit longer than the Subaru stuff.
  12. Check the breathers on the valve covers themselves. They usually get quite clogged up.
  13. The causes for difficulty of shifting out of 4WD is probably because you're using it on pavement? The 4WD system is only supposed to be used on places where the wheels can have a limited amount of slip (IE: dirt, gravel, water, snow, ice, etc). Also, if you make tight turns with it in 4WD, even on some slippery surfaces, you'll still get a little binding. Binding is what makes it difficult to shift out of 4WD. As far as shifting to/from HI and LO, the owners manual recommends not shifting between the two at speeds in excess of 30mph (50kph). The proper way to do it, is to put in the clutch and then shift between the two, and release the clutch. Also, 1986 Turbo Dual range still had the crappy low range (1.2:1) and 3.7 gearing. Keep that in mind if you plan to lift it. You'd probably want to put in the N/A DR with 1.5 low range and 3.9 gearing.
  14. Its a problem with pretty much the EA82 soobs. The Loyales do not have any differences in the depth. I dunno about any older than that, but those you have to usually cut a hole in the dash. Since pretty much all of these soobs were made to fit tape decks and not CDs, most CD players stick out a bit. The aftermarket dash kits seem to do a decent job though of giving a bit more room. Only trouble I had when mounting my CD player is that the antenna cable hits against something, and causes the dash kit to bow a little.
  15. Agreed. And the XT's wiper moves so slowly, even on the highest speed. Though, its certainly fun to listen to the passengars say "Woah, that's cool!" whenever its raining.
  16. Definitely a mod. And it would run crappy. 7.7:1 compression without forced induction just lacks power.
  17. Dunno what a suto is, maybe you meant auto? Automatics based on how they work do not have a center diff lock. There is however a mod that you can force the rear clutch pack to be engaged all the time with a switch, making it a 50/50 split.
  18. I hope you're kidding. The FSM recommends 75W-90.
  19. If by shutting off, you mean seize when there is 0 oil pressure, yes. There is no safety switch that will shut off your car if the oil pressure drops.
  20. Its a prizm. Blame yourself for buying an econobox Its actually quite amazing what cars manufacturers decide get intermittent wipers. The only cars I've had them on is my Subarus (an XT6, XT Turbo, and my EA82 GL Wagon), and my 89 Ford Tempo (POS). Not the celebrity which was supposed to be 'luxury', or the sport compact toyota I had. The POS Tempo and the XT6 are the only ones though that I've actually been able to adjust the delay time.
  21. EA81 Electric A/C Fan fits great. My XT has one in place of the stock crank fan.
  22. I still think the 17mm deep socket over the pivoting point works best. Can get pleny of leverage with a breaker bar on it.
  23. I found it funny that no one would touch his wagon. All of us were litterally standing at least a foot from it with out hands in pockets. Its so shiny...
