  1. If manual, yes. If auto, I don't think so (?). However, the author of this thread doesn't mention switching trannies. The difference is in the tranny.
  2. Can I please get the original locations of these FSMs and who scanned them so I can give proper credit where it is due? Thanks In an effort to conserve server bandwidth usage, everything's been zipped up. I've uploaded the partial 89 FSM here: http://mshoup.us/docs/fsm/EA82/ You'll also find the full 88 XT FSM there (Thanks to Mr. Radon from xt6.net) The EA81 manuals have also been zipped up. Why zip 'em up you ask? A) Uses slightly less space on the server. This is fairly negligible though since PDFs are already compressed Forces people to save them to their computer instead of opening directly every time they need to use it. Please save these to your computer for future use!
  3. I beleive he's saying the turbo engine has a crack in it somewhere. Doesn't sound like he wants to use the turbo block.
  4. They'll get there. For some reason the VPS is being slow. I haven't determined if its due to the previously linked FSMs.
  5. I would suspect that your radio not turning off and the clock not turning off are part of the same problem. Perhaps a circuit got rewired to stay on constantly?
  6. Are these the partial FSMs that are already hosted else where? If they're elsewhere, I see no reason to use my server's bandwidth...
  7. Cam timing has nothing to do with TDC. Its timed to when the valves have the least pressure on them (makes it easier to turn the pulley). If cylinder 1&2 are at TDC, then you should be at the 0 mark on the flexplate.
  8. You need the EA82 Turbo manifold with the MPFI, which in turn requires the MPFI heads and a computer to control the MPFI. I guess, you could some way run a turbo on it with the carb, but why?
  9. Got a VOM or a Test Light? Hook it up to the wire you have for 12V Switched, make sure it goes on and off with the key.
  10. Seeing as RXs are fairly rare, 1500 is definitely a reasonable price. If it had no rust, I'd even say 2000. That's for an 87-89. The 85 and 86 RXs are sedans, and although rare, don't have as many cool things about them, included the FT4WD D/R. (They have a PT4WD D/R though)
  11. Got the switched and constant 12V backwards? I think that'd keep it on all the time.
  12. Not all GLs are 4WD. Only the Turbo versions had an AWD option. The rest were either FWD, or Part Time 4WD. Some of the 4WD models had dual range (hi, lo, transfer case built into tranny). Being its 80, it will not have AWD at all. If its 4WD, I beleive it would have the 4 speed dual range 4WD tranny in it.
  13. RXs are nice cars. The 87-89 come with a FT4WD Tranny w/ manual center diff lock and dual range. They have an EA82T (EA82 Turbo) engine, which cranks some where around 115 hp out. Definitely a very nice car, and would be great rally crosser.
  14. I'm afraid the saab 4 lug bolt pattern is 4x114.3 and NOT 4x140. Dunno where you see that they're 4x5.5.
  15. I might be interested in taking it off of your hands for cheap. I know a few people who could use a good vehicle. DrKrazy: Any chance on helping me get a good deal for a windshield for my wag? I've been pulled over again since I got it for how bad the windshield is. Elite quoted me $155 to do it at my house.
  16. Yeah, I'm also living at 5500 feet here. If I'm not mistaken, Iowa is around 1000 feet. So, I'm sure that helps. Regular here is even 85 octane.
  17. Ask, and ye shall receive: http://mshoup.us/docs/fsm/EA81/ Its not on the quickest of hosts. I use tektonic.net's VPS, and I have a plan which limits to 1.0mbit/s
  18. L = Blue B = Black Y = Yellow G = Green R = Red W = White Br = Brown Lg = Light Green Gr = Gray C'mon, not that hard to figure out
  19. http://mshoup.us/images/radio.jpeg There's the diagram. Just follow the lines (shouldn't be too difficult to figure out what goes to what). cd45: You did a nice job of outlining what the aftermarket connector's colors are. Unfortunately, they're not the same colors as the stock subaru connectors.
  20. Definitely check the tensioners and the idler sprocket.
  21. I've seen 4EATs in later model non-turbo Loyales. I'm not sure exactly which models came with them, but when shopping for a wagon, I've seen 'em.
  22. I can scan in the wiring diagram for the radio later today. The colors may not match up as its for an 86, but the pin positions on the connectors will be the same. Just remember, Subarus use a common ground for the speakers. You will need to seperate the grounds from rear to front. Easily done by running new speaker wire to either the front (easiest), or the rear speakers. If you run it to the front, there's pink plugs behind the kick panels on either side. Just cut and splice in there.
  23. My wagon seems to be about the same. Its an 88 SPFI, just like your 92. Seems the hot weather really seems to drag on it. I'm of course at a higher elevation. Borrow a timing light and check the ignition timing. I found I can run the wagon up to 30 degrees without any ill-effects and still use regular gas.
