  1. Yes, and it matches engine speed, not car speed.
  2. So, I proceeded today to change the driveshaft on my 88 GL wagon. Simple enough procedure. Was easy to do. I top off the transmission oil. I looked, the motor oil was about a qt low, just where I wanted it. So I dumped in the can of seafoam I'd been waiting to add (the lifters would present a faint tick every so often...) Everything's fine. I get to the end of the block before I head back, and I start to hear a knocking sound. I immediately take it back, park it, and turn it off. Check the oil, level's fine. Its a really loud knocking sound, and only is present at low RPMs. When I rev above say 1.5k, it silences itself... What should I do here? I'm at a loss, and frustrated. I'm more worried that I may have a blown engine, and the XT needs work before I can drive it daily (heads need retorquing, its got a coolant leak I need to trace down). RAWR!
  3. Have you checked to see if you lost any exhaust studs/nuts?
  4. I'd say it'd be hard to pick up chicks in a wagon too. Wanna check out the rims on my white wagon? Hm... Just doesn't quite work either I'd go with whatever one will be more fun. The Camry may be a bit more reliable (it is like 9 years newer ) but, the wagon, well, you just can't beat a wagon.
  5. Check for leaks around the uppipe. Try new exhaust manifold gaskets, and new turbo gaskets (get 'em from the dealer, they're beefy!). Wastgate could be stuck open I suppose. Check that too. Since you do get some boost though, I'd suspect a big exhaust leak. And fix the gash in your 2nd cat! meow.
  6. Check the local car stereo places for motoral antenna extension cables. I had one for my XT for $13 at a local Sound Track. Best Buy, WalMart, Circuit City, etc, usually don't have that type of thing.
  7. I posted it, but Mr. Radon from XT6.net debinded his FSM and scanned it in. He should be the real person to thank. Glad to see people using it though!
  8. Those are for the general ECU diagnostics. The ECU doesn't have anything for the auto seatbelts. Probably won't help him in this case.
  9. They're not worth a whole lot as every XT6 came with those. Now if they were the 4 lug motion wheels, I'd be all over 'em.
  10. The engines just don't make power up to that point. They're torquey beasts made for street, and not for high revs. Anyways, SPFI EA82s have a redline at 6500. So, I guess that's better. Its not like you're gonna make power up to that point. If you wanted to make power higher in the band, put a new set of cams, recurve the disty, put in solid lifters, and you could probably take it fairly high.
  11. Does the Justy's oil filter screw into the oil pump like it does on the EA soobs? If so, there's where your oil pump is
  12. MPFI and Carb both have a compression of 9:1, so that shouldn't be a problem.
  13. That's because the Turbos have an awesome, easy to change location for the O2 sensor. Looking at my SPFI Wagon's O2 sensor, I dunno if I'd want to ever change that thing.
  14. Check for shorts to ground. You may have something shorting itself to ground. And do like the guy before suggested, pull the fusible links one by one, doing the same thing (they're in the black box on the coolant reservoir)
  15. On my brother's 89 3 door, the tach needle jumps around. Am I right in the assumption the distributor is going out? What else could it be?
  16. I could go for an XT Turbo hood, but it'd have to be really cheap and still maintain the stock hood scoop (I love the look of it) I guess since this seems to be for EA82s that won't happen
  17. Anyone else noticed this thread is from february 2005?
  18. The $200 wagon needs a driveshaft. One of the U-Joints is broken, and makes a ringing sound. What tools do I need to pull the driveshaft? Going junkin' tomorrow after work and don't want to have any missing tools when I get there. Also, what's the procedure for doing it? I know where it goes into the rear diff is just four bolts, but what about the front? Thanks a bunch guys!
  19. New Hatch! Thanks to Jeff, I pulled a decently shaped silver hatch from a wagon at Pull n' Save. Before After
  20. There's also a Blue Sedan at Action that Phil pulles his LSD off of. Had a full time in it. They're easy to find, I just want one cheap
  21. If you get one with a FT4WD tranny, I'll give you the pushbutton out of mine + some cash for it.
