  1. Turbo mufflers are the exact same mufflers as non-turbo ones. Even same part numbers. You're probably thinking of generic "Turbo" mufflers. They're regular mufflers that are designed to be less restrictive.
  2. Interesting that the torque just drops off right there at, what is it, 2250rpm? I wonder what causes that.
  3. You wouldn't happen to have a graph of the power output would you?
  4. Try 6 ounces into 4 quarts... That's 6 into 128. That's a ratio of 3:64. Again, not going to thin out your oil much. Yes, it will thin it out, but not enough to cause any damage.
  5. That works, though sometimes it can be hard to keep the vehicle running since pulling that off creates a large vacuum leak. What I did on my SPFI is unhook the hose that goes into the IAC solenoid from the intake tube. Plugged the hole in the tube with my thumb, and then dumped the seafoam down the hose that runs into the IAC. That will distribute the seafoam fairly evenly. It might not work at hot idle since the IAC would close up, but it did work very well at a cold idle.
  6. I don't use the brake booster hose. It will only feed seafoam to the left cylinder bank. You need to use a more central vacuum line in the intake manifold.
  7. I'm not buying anymore coopers: Those were Cooper Dominators. It may have blown while the technician had it on the tire mounter, but I'm pretty sure it blew from a tire defect. I'm starting to see a similar line in one of my other tires... just waiting for it to pop out the side like that.
  8. Soo.... I take my car in to Peerless after I notice one of the tires losing pressure. They find it leaking slowly at the bead. They take the tire off, throw some sealant around it, and slap it back together. He then puts 30psi in the tire, puts some water around the bead to look for leaks and steps away. A couple minutes later, we hear this really loud bang. The result: Lucky me, Peerless Tyre says they'll replace it for free. Downside, is they don't have a tire in that size and they have to ship one from Laramie, WY. Lucky me.
  9. Near it. Down off of 7th and Garden St (one block east of Ford). Right along side a little creek that drains into clear creek.
  10. Jerry: I picked them up from the sucker king quite a while ago. I still have a 5th wheel that's not mounted to anything yet. Thanks for the comments guys.
  11. Is this car fuel injected, or carb? If it has a carb, this advice won't work. If has fuel injection, connect the green diagnostic plugs. If its SPFI/TBI, the two plugs are near the d/s strut tower at the firewall. If its MPFI, the two plugs are under the dash. Pull the kick panel off and find them. They're two disconnected green plugs with one wire each. Connect them together, and turn the key to ON. You should hear the pump cycle on and off. If not, then there is definitely something wrong with the wiring to the pump or possibly the ECU.
  12. They look lots better from a distance. Up close, you can tell all the curb damage and the bad paint job I did.
  13. ONLY if its from a 4EAT. The 3AT Turbos are not compatible. Just use axles from a 5spd turbo or 4EAT turbo. XT, GL, or Loyale all work.
  14. 87-89 MAF sensor is NOT compatible with the 86 MPFI system. 83-86 use a flapper style MAF. 87+ use a hot wire style MAF. The two are not interchangeable. I have an 86 FSM, but no access to a scanner right now. If you don't have the wiring diagram by Monday, I can make a scan.
  15. I just placed a order for some of those winter tires. Total came to be: $80 for 4 winter tires! Woot.
  16. Sounds close to my work day. I'm a computer tech at the school: Open the building. Read E-mail. Forums. Surf. Fix a computer. Forums. Show a staff member where the paper is stored. Surf/Forums. Lunch, then off to class.
  17. Pull the entire ER27 engine harness. Unfortunately, this harness is extremely long as it goes from the ECU in the trunk to the motor. You will want to cut this down. Here's a copy of the pages from the FSM for the 88XT engine diagrams. Both the ER27 MPFI and the EA82 MPFI. Make sure you look at the correct diagram. http://mshoup.us/docs/XT%20EA82%20MPFI%20ER27%20MPFI,%20Engine%20Wiring%20Diagram.pdf You're going to want to pull the whole engine wiring harness from the XT6. Then proceed to cut it down and remove unnecessary components from the harness. Unfortunately with harnesses from the XT, you'll also want to cut down the length as there is going to be many many extra feet since the computer is in the trunk. Too bad you're not in Colorado. I'd be totally up to helping you with the wiring. I'm great with electrical. Just not so great with the mechanical part.
  18. I don't let the girls see the grease under my fingernails until the third date You're right in that most girls are shallow and it proves extremely difficult to find a girl who appreciates a man who can work on a car. I did however find one girl that enjoyed going to junkyards with me. Too bad she moved to Laramie Wow, I pulled this off topic. Bad Mike. Get back to work. Who says I didn't? Ah man, I was dating this one chick, she totally got riled up whenever I ran my hands through her hair. Bad Mike. Get back to work.
  19. Only ways I can think of involve jacking up the car. Since we're on a discussion of what we like to do, I like to unbolt the swaybar and the control arm pivot bolt. That allows the hub to swing out enough. Don't have to even remove the wheel for that.
  20. Search. Use an XT6 flywheel and pressure plate with an EA81 clutch. Then there's a throwout bearing from some Nissan that will work in the EA81 t/o bearing holder and is the right diameter for the pressure plate. Its a little funky but it works. I personally would suggest a 5spd D/R... The gearing on 4spds is terrible.
  21. EA82 trans has 24 splines and the EA81 trans has 21. Also, the step height on flywheels is different. I do not recommend trying to mix and match. I learned the wrong way that an EA81 pressure plate will not work on an EA82 flywheel. The flanges on the pressure plate were concave in when bolted up.
  22. When you're sitting on a park bench, running your hand through a girls hair, just about to connect your two sets of lips and she catches a glimpse of the grease in your fingernails... then you start to use gloves while working on cars
  23. Another possibility, but remote, is one of your axles badly damaged to the point a CV is gone? Try shifting between 4WD and 2WD.
  24. No. The XT6 clutch will not work with an EA81 Trans. You could use an XT6 flywheel and pressure plate, but you'll need an EA81 clutch disk and a unique throwout bearing (from some Nissan truck or something).
  25. Yeah, there's a neutral spot in the dual range between 4HI and 4LO. Check that you're not in that spot.
