I had a thought. I don't know if this has already been covered yet. The radiator I'm putting in my car will work with an AT, so it has the oil cooler for the transmission. Could this be used to cool the motor oil? Granted, it probably won't be as good as a seperate cooler, but it'd help right? So, what would I need to do so? Never installed an oil cooler, so I have no clue how I would go about it. Or should I just not waste my time and get a real oil cooler?

Nissan something adapter fits the hotwire. The hotwire has a round opening, and the flapper has a square opening.
-
Try switching to a colder range spark plug. That will carry the heat out through the spark plug if it is the spark plug causing the pinging. And as everyone else suggests, NGK spark plugs usually run the best in Subarus. But hey, if Bosch platinums run fine, then use them.

EA82T and 5SPD D/R in Brat?
mikeshoup replied to Skatedownpdx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Won't need any adapter plate since he's mating an EA engine to an EA transmission. And many say you do not need to bend the frame rails or anything. It'll fit with very little clearance left. -

The EA82T should pretty much drop in after you get wiring done. As for the 5 spd d/r, you should read http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49952 -

He's running a Legacy 5 speed with 4.11 gears. That thing is amazing. -
Later model brats all have EA81s. EA81s only came with 4 speeds. No 5 speed 4WD D/Rs.

2" Headers -> 2.25" Rest of Exhaust.. just a flange?
mikeshoup replied to Andyjo's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Scratch that, I don't know enough about what to tell you. Regardless, you need to get a bung for the O2 sensor put in BEFORE the cats. If your car was equipped originally with one O2 sensor, then just plug the second hole. If you car was equipped originally with two O2 sensors, then just plug 'em both in. What I was saying is if that O2 sensor bung is indeed before the cat, then you'd need to find a way to trick the computer into thinking that the second O2 sensor was plugged in, when it isn't. Thus, no reason to put in a second one. Again, this is only if the exhaust you're getting has the O2 sensor before the cat. -

At the bottom of the ad: Please note: this entire ad was written for a good laugh, and almost all of the above are taken directly from eBay car ads. -

It looks like the O2 sensor bung is after the cat. You'd want to have an O2 sensor before the cat. That would be the one to tell the car if its running rich/lean. The second O2 sensor goes after the cat, and is so the computer can compare the two readings and determine if your cat is in working order. If you get one O2 sensor before the cat, hook it up to the computer, and ground out the second O2 sensor. Computer will think your cat is in 100% working order. Probably the reason you only have the one O2 sensor from the WRX exhaust, is I think the primary O2 sensor is on the uppipe (or maybe downpipe) of the WRX. -

carbed EA82 oil in aircleaner!?
mikeshoup replied to BlindSight's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Check the PCV hoses and the PCV valve. That might be the cause of oil entering the air cleaner. Dunno about your idle though. -

Appears the cores are different, but not by much: XT's: Core Dimensions: 26 3/8 x 12 1/2 All Other EA82s: Core Dimensions: 25 3/8 x 12 11/16 Seems XTs are just a bit longer width, and shorter height than other EA82s. Hm. Doesn't seem to be that much of a difference though. I can't seem to find any two rows at all for XTs. I thought these things were two row stock. Edit: RadiatorExpress has a two row for the XT for ~ $151.75. That's actually around the same price as everyone else. I may just go ahead and buy that. Thanks for the offer DrKrazy on trying one of yours. I think I'll just buy the brand new one from radiator express that says it has the same dimensions.

Its in the UK, but, they said its not going to be made. That the P2 is just a technology showcase. Still, freaking awesome car.

A Bunch of Loyale Questions...
mikeshoup replied to Loyale 2.7 Turbo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
A solution is to wire up your lights with a relay. Have the stock wiring trigger the relay, which then has the headlights wired directly to the battery with a fuse. Of course you'd need two relays, one for low beams and one for high beams. -
Now I need to put one of those engines into my XT Turbo.
-
That's cuz I don't know how old it is. I suppose I'll replace it with a brand new one. Next question, do XTs use the same radiators as the DL/GLs? Found a good deal on a radiator, says its for just about everything, but no mention of XT.
-
Alright, so first thing I'll do is change the thermostat. The recommendation from everyone is OEM. That's cool. How do I tell if the radiator I have is a two row or one row?

Don't forget the distributor turns counter clock wise
