getting the front and rear diff ratios right is gonna be the hard part unless you already found a tranny. that one sounds pretty tough to find.

it depends on the gaskets. Some you can use Ultra Blue on and some go on dry. I dont remember the names of them, but I just ask em at the counter of the parts store and they will tell you. The cardboard/fiber type you can use silcone on. the harder plastic ones and metal gaskets (exhaust) go on dry. For intake manifolds I use Ultra Blue that comes in the pressurized can. you onyl need a bead about 1/8" thick. make sure you have a clean intake mounting surface and put the ultra blue on the block. now put the gasket over the ultrablue. how set the intake over the gasket. DO NOT SLIDE the manifold once its down. IF you do, the ultra blue will get ito the coolant port and you'll be replacing headgaskets.

I dunno man, my car since it was brand new in 86, idled low for the first 15 to 30 seconds before the high idle came on. And then as the engine warmed up the idle went up until 3500 rpms. Then I'd have to go outside and kick the throttle down.

replace the struts.they are bent.

sorry to hear that man

So I'm assuming its a used carb? Get some SeaFoam if deep creep if they sell it over there. Not sure if they will. If they do, turn up your idle. spray the hell out out the carb, down the neck, in the pcv valve and lines air cleaner assembly etc. shut off the engine and let it sit for 5 min. Start it up. this will clean out the carb

Destudding studded tires?
torxxx replied to starkiller's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
put some bleach in a spray bottle and mist the treads that have studs in em. the bleach softens the rubber. Its also a cheap way for good burnouts -

Destudding studded tires?
torxxx replied to starkiller's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
you can use either. since they are brand new they should come out a lil easier. You do have to pry from the underside lip to get them out. I use a screwdriver to pry the lip up and then grab it with the pliers -
well either way you do it, its gonna cost 20 bucks in urethane

Help! '85 brat, hood release sticking ... any hints?
torxxx replied to FlyB0y's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if you have the grill out, you can reach behind the the mechanism and pull on the lever that has the spring attached to it. If not, reach from under the bumper and up to the release. its a tight squeeze, so find someone with small, long arms. It should pop, but I'll have some pressure behind it so pull pretty hard ont he lever. -

he's the guy that's always behind me when we are racing. -
Postin for Subaruthless since I'm already logged in and we use the same computer. It picks up alright under light pressure on the throttle. When you floor it, it doesnt hardly get going at all. noticeable around 3500 rpms. floor it and it doesnt gain speed at all. When we got the Brat it had noticeable blowby in the airbox and filter. we changed the filter. seafoam deep creep'd the carb. I'm thinkin the secondary isnt opening. Or possible the PCV is plugged and its blowing by all the crankcase pressure into the carb causing it to choke itself out. Anyone got any other ideas? Thanks for whoever posts..

Gettin a MSD coil tommorow. Which one do I need for my EA82? Part numbeR? And are the MSD plug wires any better then the 8mm accel wires?
-
You dont need to goto a junkyard. Your insurance will cover replacement windows. CAll them and tell them that another car threw a rock up on the freeway and it cracked the window across your line of sight. They will ask you if you got a licesnse plate number of the car, Say no they were passing you. Tell them that you will need the new molding for the window too. They will say you need to pay the 50/100 dollar deductable. Do that. Any insurance will do it. just liability will cover window replacements That way you get a brand new window, professonally installed.
