  1. if you can get it running again, run some carb cleaner or Seafoam through the top of the carb.. should help.. 2 bottles of heet in the gas tank Pull your plugs and see if you got spark if not you got a problem with the disty/coil
  2. just make sure you pull the back driveshaft or your gonna be fixing a tranny Never tow a soob with the driveshaft installed... stuff will break
  3. 3 door will not fit a wagon (thats what I was told at my junkyard) Wagon driveshafts fit other wagons Sedans fit sedans
  4. wow I want one of those.. call it the shaggin wagon
  5. yup. I do it the same way miles.. its easier and faster that way
  6. put a EA82 in it also see this website http://ultimatesubaru.org/80s/ea-performance-page/subaru-ea-performance.html
  7. I think they are 12.9 gallon tanks on the wagon thats what mine fills to from bone dry
  8. sounds like a lot of work for an old car... keep it stock and restore it. then sell it for more $$$ buy a 84-86 brat and lift that
  9. you could prolly lift out the motor with 2 people.. but I think I'd be a pain in the rump roast, cuz if you smash your hand while lifting it out, most likely going to drop the motor lots easier if you have a chain hoist
  10. dont unscrew your the nut on the tie rod, and only take the bottom of the strut out of the spindle and the alignment will be fine. I've changed 3 sets on my soob and a set of tie rods and my alignment stayed the same, if not gotten better.
  11. well considering the engine is a new/used with year warranty, the clutch is new along iwth the turbo and the exhaust, it seems like it should be in pretty good shape. The interior is very clean and the body has very little rust on it. I looked at the exhaust when it was off the car and it looked very good also. No rust
  12. Yeah that seems problematic.. just because of the way the lights pop up.. installing longer headlight wires might help.. I'll look into that... Anyone else got any comments
  13. I think he posted that wrong he told me 1981 earlier..
  14. Alright. Simple enough.. Install a mechancial temp gauge.. Thanks for your input richie
  15. why not just list the things that go wrong with XT's so I know ahead of time? Thats what I asked for..
  16. I am looking at buying an XT Turbo... 1987 I think. I will confirm date... Anyways what I'm wondering is what are re-occuring problems that you guys have had with them. Like what parts go out compared to the 80's wagons. And what is a decent price for a XT in good condition with a new used motor, new clutch, exhaust and push button single range 4wd?
  17. I'm hijackin this.. caleb - so if I buy this XT I'm lookin at, can I use 4wd wagon struts in the front to raise it up 2 incheS?
  18. EA82.. I gotta change a cv before my trip next weekend and I'm going to buy tools today.. What size of punch are the pins that hold the cv on the stub shaft? 3/16" sounds familiar but I want to make sure
  19. brian.. which way to I turn my disty to advance, and can I do it iwthout using a timing light?
  20. well if its a hitachi ea82, drill out the idle mixture screw.... try a 1/2 turn lean or rich and see what happens.. I had to play iwth my idle mixture after I put accel stuff on my 86
  21. sounds like its a power steering pump problem.. just be glad you dont have a mercury sable.. my ex gf's car is on its 3rd PS pump in 3 years.. I thought the ****er what gonna blow up one time when I started it.. It made all this noise for about 30 min
  22. I'd really like to see an emissions removal kit for hitachis...
  23. uPDATE... Went to my jy today and talked the owner. He rebuild a XT turbo. Engine is a used, but its got a year warranty and I know the guy pretty well, if anything happened to the motor, he'd fix it right up. 5 speed push button 4wd.. New clutch, new exhaust He mentioned trading me for my wagon.... The car will be finished in the next few days and then I'ma go test drive it. And hten theres the 1988 GL-10 wgagon.. Engine fire wrecked under the hood but hte firewall saved the rest of the car. the interior is very clean.. 400 bucks for that... Wonder if it would be work getting that car too? Hell its 4 extra cj joints, and exhaust all the seats I need and nice new carpet...... Anyone need parts?
