  1. So I was going to do this for the hatch over the past weekend after a successful visit to the PnP. I don't think the Maximom alternator is going to clear the Hitachi setup. This can only mean one thing: Weber.
  2. I have that same sub, but it won't quite fit under the hatch seat. Nice work on the install.
  3. Is it just me, or do the flared fenders look huge compared to the tire and wheel? Meh, it will take a little getting used to for me but so did the new Impreza
  4. The stock EA81 alternator I have now definitely can't handle running everything in the winter months (this includes a set of Hella 550s). Watching the volt gauge drop below 12 is not fun when you are sitting in snowbound traffic... I managed to find an alternator from an '88 Maxima. The next thing I need to find is a pulley I guess... Thanks for the write up, GD. Hopefully everything goes just as smooth for Super Grover's conversion.
  5. That's right! And the Rodeo / Passport! I do remember both, and stand corrected. My thoughts were drifting into the world of large car company mergers for whatever reason. No mergers for Honda. Sorry about the OT.
  6. Does Honda partner with ANY automaker? Not that I can recall.
  7. So is your driver's side a 3.5" or a 4" round? One easy thing that will improve the overall performance of the speaker is to isolate the front from the back by eliminating gaps and whatnot. I plan to do this using simple foam weather strip tape. It is flexible enough to curve with the outside of the speaker basket, and can be stacked if a little extra thickness is needed.
  8. Good! I don't want an ounce of rust on that Civic when you finally sell it to me...
  9. I used 3.5" in my old 84 wagon for the front, but you can do a 4x6, which is what I plan to do with my 86 hatch. LINKY!!!
  10. I am sure ShawnW would know for sure, but I think the 2.2 was about 2 inches (maybe a bit more) lower than the EA it replaced in his turbo wagon.
  11. Good to know and I appreciate the response. The thread I started for this is buried somewhere in the old school forum.
  12. Without hearing the noises, it is hard to say online. I would suggest you let your local Subaru dealer look at it. I am "pretty sure" that the turbo for the 04 Forester was the TD04-13t, which is also used in the WRX. Used, they can be found pretty cheap since most WRX people want to upgrade rather quickly. Install is more time consuming than it is difficult.
  13. I wonder if my login id still works over there. I remember the wagon was white and tan
  14. I think that was the outback board. I just can't remember who.
  15. I think a write up is under my old user name around her somewhere (The Don). I ran the GR2 / King Spring lift set up on my old '97 LOBW. I know that the strut itself is a bit longer, but I don't recall seeing any lift blocks. Anyway, I don't see any problems with your plan.
  16. Thank you. Did you have any clearance issues with the tweeter and the plastic once everything was put back together? If I can get a 6.5" in there, that would be fantastic. j.
  17. I am sad that all of the pictures are gone. Anyway, I am getting ready to rewire my entire car for an audio set up. What size speakers did you use for the rear? Thanks, j.
  18. Only two wires. Simple, yet sophisticated. I like it.
  19. Man, I don't know. That is a bummer... Get out of California? :-\
  20. I know that Pooparu installed speakers in the rear of his hatch, but I could not find the thread. Much of the material for this topic seems to have gone "bye-bye" with the USMB hack. When I get around to starting the project of striping out the interior, Raamating, re-wiring, etc. I will be sure to document the process for the site. Thanks again for the help.
  21. You can also tap into your parking lamp, but either one will work.
  22. I am planning the audio system for Grover. What size are the rear speakers? I have been told both 4" and 5.25". I know a few of you have some experience with the install, so I posted up. Provided a 5.25" will work, I am looking at the Lanzar VX50S. They should help me to avoid mounting depth issues. If mounting depth isn't an issue for the rear, I may go another route. Thanks for your time. j.
