The Hatch Patrol story-the unveiling(with pics)
ezapar replied to Qman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I can give you a couple reasons to go solid rear. No more broken rear axles. No more broken stub axles. No more exploded rear diffs. All these, with more travel and the ability to add a proper locker. (Whoops, five) Ken can still have pride in the fact that his brat is still powered by an ea81, not a big 6. . . Goes both ways Adam. -

Can you say itching to share with the world? Can you say First to Successfully Do That? Here's to 4 more years kicking rump roast on the bigrigs! Go Hatch Patrol! -
OK. Let's talk about this picture.

Just kiddin about the rake Adam. How about a full on shot of the sucker? I know Ken said no trailer photos, but it's gonna be awhile till he can get it completely ready cuz of RallyX. You guys have been really patient. How about this? -
I see your Moosens and raise you one PK Davis, one Dr RX and one Subaru Junkie.

How about now? No bush in the way. -
With the addition of a simple cold air intake, my 97L 5sp sedan is no dog. It will give a stock WRX a real run for it's money. (they don't stand a chance at the RallyX, I've proved it) 1rst and 2nd are strong as hell, and I know my clutch is at the end of it's days. It will jerk you back nicely going into 2,3,4. 60-80 is where it really shines, comes in handy for passing and merging. I've seen 115 mph. Minivans don't stand a chance off the line when I don't want them to. Try fuel filter, O2 sensor (little bit spendy), and adjusting your clutch in or out till it feels better. Try a bottle of injector cleaner and a full tank of Texaco Superunleaded. Do not buy Am/Pm 7/11 type cheapo gas!!

That's exactly what I thought. Send me an email, I'll send you the # for "Moxey Motors". Subaru gurus. chairotsu@earthlink.net

Welcome. There's a whole bunch of us in the greater Seattle/Tacoma/Everette area. You're in good hands. -
Here's one. BTW, good to see from you. I haven't heard from you since we met at Schucks way back. How's your car coming along? Eric chairotsu@earthlink.net

For most of us, a 27 is about max size. . . Example. Qman runs 27/8.50/15 Superswamper SSRs. I run 27/8.50/14 Superswampers. Same exact tire, same diameter. But. With a 14 inch wheel, I have more tire between my wheel and the road, in theory allowing me to air down more for more tranction with a lesser chance of blowing a bead. 14 inch wheel or a 19 inch wheel is no different for clearance. The size of the tire is what gives you your clearance. Make sense? I have about an inch and a half of tiresticking out past my rim, very small cahnce of mangling my rim on a rock. Those 15inch pug alloys wouldn't stand a chance at Evans Creek where we do most of our Hatch Patrol Initiations unless you put a pretty wide tire on them.

Right on Adam. The term "SecretMobile" had to originate somewhere. hehe This year's wcss is gonna be a serious collection of monster soobs. I know of more secret projects than I'll reveal. Good and bad to be in-the-know. I even know about mtsfabman's secret plans. (btw Mike, the cdrom with about 130 shots should get to John's in a couple of days.) -

Being no computer geek, that one took a bunch of wrestling with the damn computer to get it to show up. I was trying to figure out what I'd done wrong as you guys posted. No disrespect felt or sent. -

My friend, you've got me confused with someone else unless all you guys are C#$ks. . . I be down with the female persuasion. I know Qman said no "on the trailer" photos, but how about just one? -
Who's Who Three (Roll call for lowered soobs)

We'll be good friends in no time at this rate. . . It's cool, I'll get you back in front of people, not people typing. -
Everytime I turn around lately, I see another member with a lifted Soob. I'm very happy about that. I remember when I only knew of one in the USA. That was just over 4 years ago. If you would, please give a brief description of your (current) lifted Soob, list others you've owned or a link to their photos. Club affiliations please. Also include one photo of it. Thanks. I'll start. -------------------------------------------------------------------- *Member of the Hatch Patrol and Oregon Offroad Subaru Club and the West Coast Stompers. *I've owned 6 lifted Soobs prior to my current: *1986 GL Hatch back, PK 3inch lift, 4spd dual range, Weber 32/26, welded rear diff, rollbar, rear discs, "Desert Rat" custom wheels, 27/8.50/14 Superswamper SSRs, KYB shocks and struts

This is no contest to see who's biggest. So far, Mudrat made a 12 inch lift sitting on 32s. That turned out to be a little too big for practical purposes. (See Subarubicon 2.1) This is aimed at the big rigs, not other Subarus. We as the Hatch Patrol and Oregon Offroad Club have pretty much been to and pushed past the limits of Subarus as we know them. Lifted or not. This is the next level. As much as you all feel teased, the product will be worth the wait. Saw Ken today, 'No photos till it's been to and kicked Evans Creek's rump roast'. Followed by, 'No photos of it sitting on a trailer or in the driveway.' We left, he went back to bed. More to come. -
Out of all the vehicles in these photos below, which ones do you think had to use a winch to go up the Reiters Pit "Wall" trail? Clue. At least 2, but not the Brat.
-
Just you wait till you see what looks big on a Soobie. . . hehe Good for you out playing with your Soob. Ditto with what Rob said about the dial up thing, but cool pics. EZ
-
First, I don't see any obstacles in those pics that would make me take it out of 2wd in my Soob. If a truck that looks like that can do that trail, I'll guarrantee that my Soob will make light work of it. Second, I know you possess a pirated copy of my offroad video that I never got paid for. If that video doesn't make you a believer, nothing ever will.
