HP's Annual Christmas tree run
ezapar replied to Qman's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Cool enough. Matt goes last, the General will be second to last. But I fear it'll be another of your clutches that goes before your little Soobie tears the bumper off of that heavy old sucker. Only got one more AAA. It's mine. -

We can meet at my house and go up. I'll be leaving at 8:30 a.m. sharp! Or, between 9:30 and 10:00 at the Enumclaw Mikky D's. There's only one. -
Oregon Rally Group Rallyx meeting 11/19
ezapar replied to edrach's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Well, I tried to go over to their board and stick up for you guys. But, ezboard is such a Muther F'n POS that it erased my long post because I didn't fill in the subject line before I hit the add reply button. Any ways, in summary. EVERYBODY is a cry baby. The Durangos expecially, cuz their car that's in the truck class can't compete with the other cars that are in the truck class. The GL and brat drivers because they can't hang in production where they belong. (unless their brat was sold after 1986 as a truck without seats in the back) That's right, the brat was sold as a passenger vehicle, hence the jumpseats in the back to beat the "TRUCK" tarrif on foreign vehicles. period. If a friggin station wagon isn't a car, what is? Am I to jump into truck class if I show up in my legacy wagon? Lastly the crybabys who have a slightly modded car that gets put into Open. If you add anything to your car that's not from the factory. . . TOO BAD! I've personally beat some pretty baddass cars with my plain imp in the Open calss because it has a cold air intake and good year snow tires. Sean Sexton won his first try in an impreza with 40 series street tires that got thrown into open because it was lowered and had an aftermarket muffler on it. Being lowered is NOT an advantage, I would say it works against a car on a bumpy course. Quit crying. Have more fun racing. -

You got it. That one was special, don't mind helping. It's also the only one I still have contact with that I sent away. -

I'm not scared of Open Class. Don't care about an award either. I just like the fun. I love the competition too. Mostly the fun. Trust me, I don't drive to friggin' OR to Rally X so I can have a stupid magnet. Doesn't matter what I drive, I'm gonna be in the Open Class. If I can't beat them, too bad. You guys are gonna be bummin when I jump into my buddy's brat next year and kick rump roast in your class too. I do appreciate the SCCA throwing this. As a coordinator for most of the Hatch Patrol's outings, I know what a pain it is. And that's on a small scale. Don't need to be a member, just wanna fling grass and mud and get sideways. -
NIce looking Brat. Love the camo. Dig seeing these offroad and not parked in a driveway.

Some pics of the BRAT on the road

SaWeeet! Glad to see forward motion! Looks good doing it. I'm still not gonna rest till I see it in photos or video off road. Good job. Now pack it up and move West. Did you get to watch the Rubicon Video yet? ? ? -

If you used the tranny I sent home with you, it will match the 3.9 in the brat. I put an LSD in that one, right? That would explain the tendancy to get sideways, especially if you were letting off the gas around the corner. Hard acceleration will do the same. If the gear ratios were different between the two, everything would just bind up. You wouldn't be able to go anywhere. Probably not even in the snow. Also, you would have a REALLY hard time on the freeway with 3.7 pushing those big 28s. -
I literally have 4-500 Subaru photos, tough call as to which ones to throw into the mix. Here's a couple I like. http://community.webshots.com/photo/41217285/101436067yBWmOt http://usmb.net/gallery/zapar/soobystuff_040 I think the idea of a poll/stickey would be agood idea. Moderators could move submissions to a single post. Another for the poll. . . I'll break out all sorts, you guys will hate deciding. :argue:

You go boy. (not sure I believe you without pics to prove it, especially from a "rookie" poster. : Sounds like the fun I had yeserday. I was keeping it a little more mellow with my rally stuff though. Just me and the missus and my busted knee if I got stuck. Did have two 20 foot tow straps and the 12 foot 4k lb come-a-long behind the seat though. AND a shovel.

Subaru to the rescue. Part of an awesome day.
ezapar replied to ezapar's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
A little. But after I had to skid it over a 3 foot high mound of snow to be able to get to him, his first words were, "That little Subaru gets around pretty good, huh?" he did appreciate it, he broke out beers and BTs. No really, he had one with him. One was "Old Cascade Highway" which went parallel to highway 2 and joined back up with it after a few miles. The other was one that claimed to be blocked after a mile and a half. It was, and it was also the funnest of the two roads. The guy loading up his snow mobile was trippin a little on the imp driving thru snow 2 feet deep like it was nothing. This is our second Winter with it, we got it a year and a half ago. 97 L 2.2. Won the open class of the Rally X last time I entered it. Photos are a little dark, but you get the point. Oregon foothills my rump roast. http://usmb.net/gallery/zapar/stevens1 http://usmb.net/gallery/zapar/Stevens2 http://usmb.net/gallery/zapar/Stevens3 Ken's talking about the part of the story I ommited. hehe, the part where I come home to a nice warm bath and play with my Stomper Water Demons in the tub. LOL I was sporting my "Our World is Flat" sweat shirt, he couldn't miss it. Looked like he had a hard time grasping the image of my hatch as I tried to describe it. He told the girl he was with, (who's truck it was btw) that they weren't gonna tell anybody. I told them I'd tell plenty of folks for them. -
Went up to Stevens Pass with the wife in the impreza. Pulled a Ford out of the ditch in the parking lot. http://usmb.net/gallery/zapar/stevens5 Had lots of fun on some snowey roads. Tried to make Colin Mcrae proud. http://usmb.net/gallery/zapar/stevens6 http://usmb.net/gallery/zapar/stevens8 Beautiful day. Put 2 hundred miles on the imp and my leg. Feel great. Can't ait till next weekend's meeting.

New shoes for the RX... again!
ezapar replied to Subarutex's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I saw 'em first! Also had a chance to see if my WRX wheels would fit on there. They do. Looks sharp Tex! -
Sounds ok. You have mail.

Couple more years Jared. You'll be back for good, all will be well. Love your story. Nothing like making it out to be able to tell it. Glad you go out prepared. Just gotta get you a partner.

I've seen a little over a hundred in the old 83 turbo wagon. Not bad for the AT. Gets pretty hairy at that speed in a car like that. The 97 L kicks in the speed cut at 115. Found out coming cown the hill with Tex in his RX.

modded 87 turbo XT - UPDATE 3/18/04 - She Runs !!
ezapar replied to Dennis ex24's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My buddy Sean came up with a good way. It was a motto. "Every time I get out of the car, I take part of it with me" Got the RX (after the rollcage was installed) down to 2350. Here's the rollcage partially installed. http://usmb.net/gallery/zapar/rxlight Did the same thing to my XT, but never took photos. -
So how was the Reiter Pit run?
ezapar replied to Mike W's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
http://usmb.net/gallery/albuo36/DSCN1145 There's the group photo, just flip right to see others. Thanks Austin. Was good to meet the few of you I haven't. welcome. The hatch has been solid so far. We'll have a snow run on Nov 29. Come have more fun. -

ezapar replied to Snowman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
What the Hell are you doing living in a place where it gets to 5 below??? Poor little Soob. I would never treat it so bad. -
How did it get transported? Did Shawn come out, or is he due to?
-
Pug 15 steels are kick rump roast. They have just a little offset, and can take a wider range of tires. They are as strong as anything. They are harder to come by, cuz they are spares in the turbo models which have 15 inch alloys. Takes 4 cars to complete a set. That guy I told you about has them from time to time. 150 a set of 4.
