More pics from September Rallycross
ezapar replied to edrach's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Those are some lame photos. Sorry. I took a bunch of teh Sept rallyx, way better action shots. Cars lifting a rear wheel and stuff. I have Ed, Ken, Mark, Sean, and myself on tape doing a whole lap or more. Some of it will make it onto Part 5 when it's done. -
10/23 Portland Brat tinker session
ezapar replied to Flowmastered87GL's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
I can't be there, but. . . You've got the basic idea how to go about bobbing it right? Cut the tail lights off first. Very important. The line you choose for cutting off the rest should be a couple of inches past the gas tank. Call me for any more that I can help you with. Jason has my #. Zap -

What's so special about LSD? not the drug
ezapar replied to MaroonDuneDoom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Here's your flame Bill. IT IS A BAD IDEA TO DRIVE YOUR 4WD SUBARU ON THE DRY PAVEMENT WHILE THE 4WD IS ENGAGED!! You're not even supposed to run different sized tires on the car. It's bad on tires, axles, and tranny. Binding is a bad thing. But I encourage you to go on with your ignorant bliss. Just please don't challenge the board to attack you for giving out bad advice or info. Cuz we will. -
YAY! My lift is in! - UPDATE - Installed the Tires today!
ezapar replied to GeneralDisorder's topic in Off Road
John's been running that configuration since before PK was making the American version of the BYB kit. I wheeled with him when he finished his first kit, he was still sporting 13s on the "Beast" then. Probably about the year 2k. That same weekend, Mike W was trying out the first BYB kit to make it to America. Both were amazing after a couple of years of wheeling Soobs with no lift. The group photo of us up at Evans sits proudly in my photo album. Good for you Rick. Get some tires on it now, get some practice in after that, then get up here and wheel with us at Evans Creek. -
And you think YOUR Subaru looks tough. . .
ezapar replied to ezapar's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeah, I saw your photos. There's no Walmarts close to my house, so I don't get to check them. The water demon works!! Just need to paint the green "lift blocks". lol I actually mixed up a paint color to match my hatch, it's more tan than yellow in actual light. I have my good ones put away, but I have a bunch of custom ones I'm not so worried about preserving as much. I dig painting them to match Hatch Patrol's rigs and giving them as gifts. Ask around. I snagged one of the bigger green brats out of the custom set a couple of days ago with the buy it now about 10 minutes after it got on line. :b -
Sweet, we'll be needing it.

I have older stuff that's prepped for distribution. Parts, 1,2,3, best of 1-3, 4, and Subarubicon. 5 is a ways out there. (Pretty hard-core stuff, 99% Subaru. No less than 30 Soobs make appearances, not just footage of the same car in the same mudhole out back. We play on every kind of terrain you can think of 'xcept sand so far.) chairotsu@earthlink.net

I'm gonna be helping Dan wrx do a lsd swap. Ken's gotta make it up here for to meet up with Ed, maybe they could meet here. Who's into hanging out for a few hours? If there's any kind of good weather, I'll fire up the barbi. . . I've got a bunch of video that most of you probably haven't seen yet. Anybody and everybody if they wanna make it is invited. EZ Sorry for not posting this in the m&g, but that forum is too stagnant for this kind of post.

Portland Rally-X Results are Up

Careful, that's your mechanic you're taunting. LOL Give him too much crap, he'll make your brat steer funny or something. hehe -
Have seen one in person. Cool little 2wd coupes.

Yep, know of it happening a few other times too. I don't know how common soobs are in the local junkyards near you, but the whole assend suspension can be had for pretty cheap around here. I had to replace the torsion bar in one of my hatches, I got a tip that the ones from an 83-84 wagon would be stiffer than the hatch. (saying this cuz I'm betting an actual Brat assend would be harder to come by.)

PK Your package came. Thanks. Will continue to spread the good word.

Photos of the Hatch Patrol's Black Diamond Run
ezapar replied to ezapar's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Brian took about 70 photos. We down loaded them onto my comp when we got to my house. I pulled a few of the better ones for the site. I have a bunch of video of us trying the muddy hill, good fun to watch. Maybe I can swing something next weekend. That axle refuses to die. -
kerbump Tex? Caleb? Brian Subafly? Rob? Or is this "O.G." only? as in Me Ken and Mike. Been a long time. . .

ezapar replied to Mike W's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
So why haven't Tex and Brian Subafly sigfned up? How about Svenguoli?? Rob? Call me todya Mike, we can talk about heading down there together. I'll also only be in it for Black Diamond. EC involves too much time and travel for this weekend. -

Then there may be two. One of the STI's is Eric Witte's. Sept 14 there were 3 that showed up. -

Oct 27 being the date, I'll be taking it easy this time after surgery, don't plan on re-re-injuring it. No runs for no less than a month afterwards, longer if the doctor has it his way. . . Say definite Mike. As for photos, if it's raing like it is now, cameras will never leave the car. . . That being the reason why I didn't film any of the rallyX last time for the first time. Damn new camera and me needing to be careful with it. -
LSD diff troubles: axle stub came out!
ezapar replied to Subarutex's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'd be careful there. We ran into this on the Rubicon, and rather than make a mess inside the diff and possibly leave metal shavings inside, (super bad for a LSD) we took the entire thing apart. That one was not only broken inside, but twisted itself and became wedged in there good. After taking the whole thing apart, wee had to weeld a bolt onto it to be able to get leverage to pull it out. Should be a lot easier in your garage than it was for us on the side of the trail. I still have the tool if you need for teh stub bolt. Just have to get it back from Sven down the street. -

Would love to go out and whoop it up one more time before more surgery leaves me unable to drive. Add some concrete to your plans Mike. -
Portland Rally-X Results are Up
ezapar replied to 84SOOB's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Indeed! Congrats to the Rachs!!!! Did anybody notice I pulled off 7th overall in Open Class? Not bad for only 2 showings this year. I still managed 9 points with my 80hp Hatchback.
