progress on my ea81 install *updated 9/1 pics
ezapar replied to Ratty2Austin's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Austin I just used a short piece of rubber hose, and capped it off with a bottle cap. DId it on both sides, works sweet. -
I appreciate the offers and help. However, I'd like to purchase my new computer from a place that I can go to and buy it. I'd like to be able to contact people in the flesh if I have a problem. Screw shipping fees, screw emailing to figure something out. I've found that the best way to get a warrantee honored is to get that warrantee from a store that's been around, and will be around for a long time. ie: Sears, Fred Meyer Don't trust myself to build a system and have it be trustworthy and reliable. Don't want compatibility issues, want one that's all put together and plug and play. My HP has been a good computer for over 5 years. (caught a virus once or twice, still works great) I will most likely buy another, been pricing them, am hoping for a Labor Day sale. My old box will be for sale for cheap btw.

Still shots just don't show what it was all about, they can only give an idea. We didn't name it the "Weeble Wobble" for nothing. (remember, the quality of these photos is poor cuz I took them from the tv with my sh!tty camera. The video is digiclear.)

I'm this >>>>] [<<<<<< close to talking my wife into letting me get a new pc capable of downloading my footage. I'll be able to burn my own dvds if I have it my way. . . Fingers crossed. Thanks Mike for the rave review.

Is this hatch 2wd or 4wd?
ezapar replied to Alliturken's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
"Didn't Leave nothin' but an a.m. radio" GL will have a tach and a dual range, third eye, stuff like that. DL lacks these. -

I believe that the round ones would make it a DL in 82. After that, all the dls had square headlights. I know they madet he 1600s all the way thru the ea81 series, but don't think there'd be much of a chance of a GL sporting one. . . -
Here's several types of bigger tires on a few kinds of lifted and non-lifted soobs. http://community.webshots.com/album/37919799NGXlOA

Thanks Tony. That makes it feel like we made the right decision. Still wanna take a crack at the Little Sluece though, so chances are we'll do it again before too long. Keep an eye out for the video I will put together out of the footage I shot while we did what we did. I'll post it here pretty soon. After watching Robert in action, there's no more saying that Subarus can't be rock crawlers. Eric

We'll keep it in mind, thanks. We'd still like to take a run with Sam and his Slinky if he'd still like to head thru with us. Gotta say it may be a little while before we drive 1000+ miles or so to four wheeling so we can catch Hell when we make it back. I'm glad we went in "under the radar" to the Rubicon, without alerting the big rigs and their board/s. More than one group approached us saying "Hey you guys are that group from Oregon, didn't one of you guys come over to the Pirate Board and talk a bunch?" I answered no, that the folks who had done the talking weren't present. It was weird being famous/infamous just for driving a Subaru. But anyways, a second time thru thru a different route, be it harder or easier would be nice. The way we took to exit was pretty cool, winding, rocky, and raining like mad. It was beautiful. Like the "Hobbit Trail" we're so fond of around here, but muuuuuch longer. Zap

Seattle...........this Weekend! CANCELLED
ezapar replied to baccaruda's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Another weekend may be better for me anyways. I as gonna head out to the cabin for the weekend. Need to put my feet up and enjoy the campfire. The Rubicon trip involved way too much work and responsibilities for relaxation. -

It's no DL. It would have 2 head lights, not 4. I would bet 50 bucks that it is indeed a 2wd. It rides low, has no mud flaps. Chances are, it's a later model, it may have a young hydrolic motor in it. Could be wort getting just for the engine. I'm guessing later model because it looks like the front bumper is part chrome. -
Feel free to start a seperate thread about axles. Come on guys. . .

want to know who's Subaru...
ezapar replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That would have been John Mudrat's "Weeble Wobble" on its way back from the Rubicon Trail. -
Sorry, didn't mean to jump on you, or seem to.

Here's an idea of what the terrain tended to be like. Moonscape or something. John spotting the line for Robert. One of John making a 1 point turn around a sharp corner. Just after, it tilted and looked like it would go over. Little pucker factor for John.

We went there with 3 different experimental rigs. 2 broke plenty, we fixed them every time. The solution as to how to make them wheel better has been figured out. We spent most of our conversation on how to improve what had been fabbed. Your punk rump roast can call it bootie fab all you like, you can't bug us with taunts and jabs. Punks like you have been giving us flack the whole time, read the very thread you posted about the bootie fab on. Would be nice to just be able to order what we need from Nappa or Les Schwabb like you would. Your doubt and hate didnt' stop us from going down there and giving it our best shot. We went anyways and had a blast doing it. Picked up a lot of what was probably your trash. Now we're back, you hate it so you jump on here and give us crap still. Up yours. Makes me have no doubts my statements about the Pirate Board are pretty true with pricks like you representing them.

Lori and Robert I need you guys' #, or get mine from Ken, I got something you want. Heard how yours turned out. Thanks for delivering the hammer to me btw.

Thru arguing with you guys. Seems we didn't go thru the gatekeeper. We'll remain satisfied with the post pile. I didn't really care to spout off to the Pirate Board about our trip before the trip, don't wanna talk to you guys now either. Wish you'd go away. No more stories and photos. I'll release video when it becomes copy righted. If you wanna eat your words about what I say our little Soobs are capable of, buy the video when it comes out. I'll give the two of you a money back guarrantee, just like I always have. Nobody's ever asked for their money back, I've sold quite a few copies of parts 1-4 of my series to date. Didn't care if you guys knew about it or watched what we're into before, but I tell you this video is as good as 90%+ that you can get your hands on short of Rock Crawling Championships. DO wish you'd go away though. Oh yeah, Fire permits were not being issued, we DID go to the Ranger's Station and ask for one.

Woody. What's in a name? Heard gun shots coming from the group of jeeps camped a mile from us first night. They also had a huge bon-fire even though the burn ban was on. We camped by flashlight all 3 nights. Saw shot gun shells every where we stopped. 6 whitnesses. We feel like we conquered and did what we set out to do. (hand me 30 grand, and I'll build a soob that will go anywhere like most of the rigs we saw. Let's see you pull of 1/10th of what we did with what we had to work with.) You go on and believe that we didn't get a million congrats and props for the little soobs. You don't know anything but what you've read or made up. btw, the guys with the broken t-case were pretty cool. If you don't think they liked what they saw, the sound track of my footage has their voices right on it. Who gives a flying f what you think or know? You wouldn't believe what I'm telling you even if you were watching the video of it while I told you. You are in the same group of people who were in complete denial every time they saw Ken's little 3 inch lifted brat with 27s parked somewhere along the trail with 0 dents on it from the trail. Hater. :moon:

Nobody stepped forward before we went and offered to give us new axles. Do you have any idea what a trip like this cost? We had a total of 6 rears, and 5 or so fronts, as well as an extra diff and 6 extra stub axles. The fix has already been worked out, you'll just have to wait till it's done to see what we/Robert figured out. **Curious, where would I go about buying a new axle anyways. The only "new" ones I know of are re-mans, or in other words garbage.** Could you please refrain from posting and reposting about stuff like that? Appreciated. EZ

If you had made yours Clint, I would say I was impressed. Nice job Tony, I've always thought those huge roo bars on the AU cars looked rediculous and way too huge. Nice to meet you btw. EZ
