Last of the goodies showed up, I'll drop it off today. hehehe Paint's all but done, I need to black out the chrome on the grill. Let teh truck be a few colors, I don't mind, actually dig it. Have a sweet jdm (lol) HILUX badge to cover the one on the grill. My earliest pic of it below. And yes, 8 years. Nuts, I've never had a vehicle NEAR as long. I think I had the green and silver imp wagons for 3 years each. . .

Dang Greg, who woulda known those vents were that legolike with the contour and angle of that rise? Cool! I've had them sitting in the garage next to eachother and it never occured at all. . . "Can't see the forest through the trees." Gramma used to say. The backing plates would be to keep heat in in the winter, snow out, other stuff out. . . The 2.2 and 2.5 cars they came on tend to run pretty cool, no real need to vent any heat. I see the vents as totally useful on a 4X hatch that's gonna get flogged some while pushing through a big mud hole or up a big rocky climb.

The entire front of it is tan now, I'll do another Eddie VanHalen on the hood. Here it is a few days ago. Oh, did I mention that it'll get a locker for the front too? heheheehehehehe (is that an ifs box in that box in the back or are you just happy to see me?)

Yes. -
Napa sells pre-made brake lines for pretty cheap. Just choose the length and bend them to fit.

I really dig the way you've got that hatch set up. Funny how they're never done eh?

14" tires way hard to find!!!!
ezapar replied to mcbrat's topic in Non Soob Cars and Bikes Discussion
Mick, tirerack.com is a great place to shop for tires. I've had only good experience with them. -
Delian and Dirty wanna bring their heeps. There's a couple of Toyota guys from Nasioc that wanna go that weekend too. Let's make it happen.
-
How about dragging yours up to Walker Valley August 31ish? Got a couple of other guys interested too.

Say when Kody and I'll clean this thread up of unneeded questions and comments and only leave the meat.

Been running with the open gears for some time, I mean I have had the truck almost 8 years. Time to lock up the rear and get some better gears. Just put some goodies on the credit card. Time to "bolt on" some goodies. The front axle could use a nice rebuild too, andso it shall get it. Just got off the internet with Marlin. Order #: 16022 Order Date: 07/14/2011 - 10:44 Products on order: 1 x Crossover Steering Stabilizer - 2 x Heavy Duty Pinion Seal - 1 x High Steer Kit for Hilux - 1 x Front Axle Service Kit - 2 x 4.88 ring and pinion - All of that will be on the truck by the beginning of August. Will finish the paint and cammo it like no other pattern you've ever seen.

So now I have a Toyota (my first one too!)

Very nice. You'll love it. Being a long bed, you can probably bob it and still easily get a motorcycle in the bed with the tailgate down. . . -
(I'll bring my rock crawler to run over yours. lol) Your baha can stay clean if you want, prolly doesn't have enough power to really turn on the crowd anyways, I think a posi and a turbo are necessary for one of those big tanks to really get off. Stock slippery tires don't tend to make for good crowd pleaser action.

brat service in seattle
ezapar replied to philip clark's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If you just need some small stuff, I can walk you thru whatever and show you how to do it yourself without charging you anything more than some beer. Any local shop will charge you an hour's labor (75-110.00) just to look at it. I'm in Seattle, and though I have no business cards, plenty of folks here can vouch for me. Bt "service" what do you mean? I know your Brat, bumper to bumper and pretty much everything in between. -
No saying you got sideways without pics Mick.

Try to plan an alternate apot too, something to fall back on. I've been going to Magnusun since the early 80's, it's 100% guarranteed to fill parking lots on sunny July and August days. It's a HUUUGE place, so scout out other spots on the property. On a side note. There's a rock wall there, and near it is a really cool place to play with rc rock crawlers. I'll have mine.
