  1. Struts are very easy to change. 15 minutes a corner tops. But I also swapped out the springs on each corner. That adds <15 minutes a corner.
  2. I chose the GR2s cuz they're super cheap. $259 shipped for all four. The ride it had wasn't all that bad, but it was getting a little sloppy on the highway. No more. Now very tite. The GR2s are 30% stiffer than a stock RS strut.
  3. I bought the good old GR2s and some springs from an 01 RS imp. I originally just wanted to lower the front a little and didn't intend to use the rears. They're so easy to swap, I figured I'd try the RS springs in the rear to see what would happen. Can't say I remember anyone trying the set up on a wagon. It lowered the front a little more than the rear, leveled it out nicely. It handles like a dream now. The shape of the road is all I feel, without it being too stiff that it's uncomfortable. Here's before. Here's after. (and after a romp on some gravel roads and half way thru a 140 mile round trip on the highway to feel it out some.)
  4. I just replaced the strusts on my 2001 impreza for 259 bucks shipped. Took maybe 1 1/2 hours to swap all 4. I added RS springs too, so it took a little longer than if I had kept the original ones. So what am I trying to say? Keep your forester. FWD FTL.
  5. ^^^ The buddy system works best. If not, comealongs and straps are nice to have.
  6. Does it pull to the left when you decelerate? If so, it's a tie rod end or a bearing, or your castle nut on your axle is loose. Wheel hop means you need to balance that tire.
  7. Congrats Dave!!! No more sleep for you for 4 years or more. Beautiful kid. Get a hold of me, I've got some more Soobie active wear for the boy. PM me a mailing address.
  8. Trust me. With the possible exception of the Wall trail, you ain't taking a Subaru up those other trails. Don't sweat it. 35s and lockers and lot's of body damage is what's required. Or at least a baddass winch. These are much harder trails than anything you guys tried at Evans Creek.
  9. Wolf, you'll do fine. We all started somewhere and learned by trial and error. Keep at it. These are good guys, they'll be supportive too.
  10. SUnday's are good for me. I can probably make it.
  11. Thanks Noah, awesome pics!
  12. Where's your pics Noah?
  13. As of about 2:00 pm, it was going great. I left early to go home, but just about everybody else was staying I think. 10 or so lifted Subarus all together. My camera got forgotten this time, but plenty of other folks had theirs. I took a bunch with my buddy's camera, but will have to wait for a disc of them. I only took my Toyota, the coupe stayed home. Woody's sedan went toe to toe on 520 and matched me by making the whole trail. That's some gnarly stuff too. Corky even made an appearance. Cool bunch of people, not a bad apple in the bunch. Quote of the day? "It was a straight road. . . In his defence." The pics will tell that story.
  14. What time will you guys be passing thru South Seattle? We're trying to leave this area at as close to noon as possible.
  15. How well do those big tires stuff?
  16. I tried to low ball the guy when the add first came out. You got it instead of me. Nice Score.
  17. I stretched the cable on my winch today. It's all ready. The coupe is running good, should be ready for the weekend.
  18. I'll give David a call and see if he's still around.
  19. Either way, I flushed it well this morning. Not much crud came out. The tank was changed once before, I know this because it's a 2X with a 4X tank. I'm hoping they just didn't change out the filter. Car is very happy now.

  21. Appreciated, but I have the one in the hatch. I'm just lazy and it's been too hot.
  22. Well. I changed out the rear filter. I think maybe that was the problem. First clue was teh rust pouring out of the old one on the intake side. (out flow was clear) Tried a big hill. HELL YEAH! I'll drain the tank and flush it and change it again.
  23. YOu shouldn't need a snorkel this time of year. There's only two places where water gathers.
