Why can't things last forever
ezapar replied to woundedbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I don't think it will work. If no one here steps up with one, try these guys: Aaron's Auto Wrecking 1-800-541-7271 http://aaronsauto.com/ Ask for Tom, tell him Eric Zap told you to call. Maybe he'll cut you a deal. . . They're Subaru only and not scared to ship. Just down the street from me too. -
I'd have to wonder if your toe is out. Wheels pointed like this: \ / I've always had the opposite, the tires wear on the outside because of camber that changes with the lift.

Since I bought my Toyota (or as my Grampa from Boston used to pronounce it, "Tie-ata") I've kinda been knocking the capability of a Lifted Soobie in the offroad. Well, I took the Brat up to Reiters Pit a week ago and did some pretty gnarly stuff. I climbed a pretty friggin' hard hill climb, and then managed to get pretty high up under the powerlines trail in mud and 4-6 inches of snow. Brought it home unscathed, no bumps or bruises on the Brat. Thought to myself, damn these really do wheel pretty good, I'd forgotten. Yesterday I took it over to my old man's house and played in his field of muddy swampy bark. I was driving it around it front wheel drive untill it would get good and stuck, then putting it in 4WD and blasting out of being stuck. Haven't done it in a Soob for quite a while. I love my posi by the way. Anyways, she's muddy again after all these years. I think she's happy. And I am back to being a believer in just what a set of swampers can do when put on a Brat/Hatch/whatever.

Still waiting. His son had a baby day after Xmas. The car is in his son's name, so they have to go to the DMV to get paperwork for a lost title so I can get one for it. I told him to wait till after the Holidays, I understand how having a newborn can really put a wrench in the works. Sorry. -
Thanks.

ACK! Revenge of the trunk water
ezapar replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My impreza fills up the spare tire area with water. I know it comes from the tail lights. I'm also too lazy to pull the tail lights to re-seal them. A couple of holes poked in the low spot, and whallah! No puddle. Several of my old GLs had the same problem you describe. Same cure, a well placed hole or two and the water goes away as quick as it comes. -
I guess if someone tells you enough, it'll sink in eh? Here's a blurry one for ya Andy. Been on the Brat for at least 5 years.

I've had to give up and just replace both pieces. Sometimes, that sucker just ain't coming off.

I'll put it in my name, the title process should take 6-8 weeks. I think it would be easiest for you if I was signing a title over to you, rather than using paperwork to confuse the officials here and there when it comes to shipping time. Hopefully I'll possess it this weekend and can take more better pictures. -

That's about as bad as rust problem as any I've ever seen on one of mine. "Bob" had been used to haul salt at a ski resort so had a few issues in the bed, another had been left sitting in tall grass for a few years so the rockers were hurting pretty bad. This will make a fine donor for my Brat's needed fenders and door and maybe the hood. After those are on, it will be pretty friggin' pristine and ready to paint. Throw the Brat's fenders on it, a can or 10 of cammo green, and off to the cabin. -
My, I dunno, 10th hatch? Whatever. Craigslist find. The right price. If 22b wants it for Australia, it's his. If not: It goes to the cabin to be part of the fun when we go out there. It's as nice as the pics show, couple pretty minor issues. nice butt. nice lines left right lookin' good The ugly part. lol

Mine's got a lift, LSD, Weber, custom bumpers, and a topper. I felt like I was stealing it when I bought it back for $2900.

Nope, the axles have to come off. You have to pull the stub axles to get the innards out.

You'll have a real hard time squeezing it in there if you don't grind it.

I take jokes about my Mom very seriously. Great way to introduce yourself.

Well, it seems to have fixed itself. I'm betting it had to do with either the gas that was in it, or the temperature/altitude. I ran the tank to empty, and then added more gas. I can't get it to duplicate the symptoms now, it runs great at 4k, even pulling up a hill. The gas light works by the way. lol

Old member back! Anyone seen my car?
ezapar replied to desertsoob's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That car's been everywhere. It made it to the West Coast 2 times. I know what Mick means by boomerang. I bought my current brat at an auction in 01. Sold it to a Soobie Mechanic, and bought it back from him 6 months later. Built it up with a lift and stuff, and sold it to a retired guy in Idaho. Bought it back in June of this year, flew down and drove it back. -
Then again, maybe it would be a good idea to run it this a.m. to see if temperature is what's bugging it. It's about 30 outside right now.

I have one of the pre-filter thingys (pre-charger), maybe I'll stick it back on. I get to wondering if it was bad gas, but really want to check/change the fuel filters. Tomorrow I hope to have time to get under it to check. Lame thing is, I'm somewhat crippled for the next 2-3 weeks, wrench turning is against the rules. This afternoon, once it warms up a little, I'll take it out of the garage and run it to see if it's still acting up. I've run across all sorts of gremlins that come for a day and promptly go away and never come back in my time as a Soobie driver.

Nope. No good tires in a 16. . . Of course man. I have two different sets. These ones have been tried out, I love them. Another variation of Hankooks.
