  1. I don't know the answer to that one. My guess is yes, same year struts will work. Go find a used one and measure the bolt pattern at the top of the strut tower. I'd start there. Here's a new gen with a lift. http://dirtyimpreza.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1628

Get over here, I've got a perfectly good running 2.2 you can have for cheap. :-p
  3. about this Brat? Besides the exaust note. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaP7L7h9OGE
  4. That's not what he said.
  5. And I'm always gonna be able to say I beat him in a Rally X. hehe I won't even be lying. he and me.
  6. Awesome. I've got pics somewhere of me stuck in my 79 wagon in mud just like that. My buddy's Jeep stuck right next to me cuz he tried to go around. I see you had a spare tank in the back.
  7. I found a motherload by accident. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/offroad/wcss3/shawnw/wcss3sw.htm
  8. Have you wiped the smile off of your face yet? That looks like a friggin blast. I woulda been laughing so hard.
  9. It was on craigslist. Sat on the local Nasioc for a while first. I was so close to buying that one. Had a few conversations with the seller and everthing. I was also gonna cammo it. In the end, I decided I really wanted to lift my OBS. doh. That won't be happening. Cool ride Mick. I called to Sean at Rallitek when I was considering it, he said it seems like a pretty solid enging build. Said it would tune very nicely.
  10. Whatever. There's an 82 toy with the 22r that's been in my family for more than 10 years. Still on the same head gasket. My 22re has been going strong for the 2 + years I've owned it. Two friends of mine had head gaskets go on their forerunners 3 times each. Both sporting the V6, 89 and 94 model years. You're going way out there though, comparing 25 year old motors to <10 year old motors.
  11. I don't think they'll fit without rubbing on the struts in the rear. Especially mounted on OB wheels. I only know this from experience. Dave's 195/70/15s baaaaaaaaaaaaaarely fit.
  12. The whp is not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the torque curve, or rather the lack of one. From 2300, all the way to 7k, it's pretty much a straight line across the top of the page.
  13. Take a look at Ken's dyno sheet and say that again. Black, eh?
  14. Your dad can hate on the Japanese cars all he likes. Tell him to look around and count how many 10 year old or older dodges he can in a week. Then do the same thing with 10 year or older Toyotas. Not that the Toyota V6 is worth a crap though. . . With 5 grand, you should be able to find a 2200 dollar Toy that runs that you can add 2500 bucks worth of fix-up and tires to. You'll still have 3 hun left over for gas. You could probably talk this guy down, http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/car/455185060.html BAM! You can afford air fare, and gas back home with this one. http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/car/455095214.html You can afford a rental truck, trailer and gas round trip. http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/car/454978031.html Don't just grab someting cuz it's all that's available. Shop.
  15. From my personal experience as someone who's added KYB Outback struts to my impreza: 27/8.50/14 27/9.50/14 205/70/15 205/75/15 ** 225/60/16 225/55/17 ** you ain't putin' much taller tires then these under the struts.
  16. Did you re-use your old springs? It looks like it's sagging a little in the rear. When I first did my swap, the stock springs could barely fill the gap in the rear. I put them back together without the spring compressor. Adding OB springs to the OB struts really lifted the rear and made it firm.
  17. It goes that way sometimes Matt. . . I'll miss that car, but oh well, I've been coveting her OBS for quite a while now. I already set it up with a 20 mm rear sway and new GR2s, I just need to get it a set of wheels and tires. I put the good alloys straight onto the new one. I doubt I'll go tall with th 96, but who can say? The replacement took a little stretching of the budget, but we own it. It's an 01, a theft recovery, but in pretty sweet condition. What's cool, is that my wife insisted on getting another 5 speed. hell yeah. Rides pretty comfy compared to the other two. Peppy, it'll most likely ge the perfect power from the old ride.
  18. It had to be a daily driver for the last week. Found the replacement for my 96 OBS which was totalled last weekend. Needs a thing or two, but will do for now. Momma gets the new one, I get her 96 OBS seen in the rear pf the photo.
  19. When I first used a set of them, Sean at Rallitek looked them up and came back with: "The GR2s are 30% stiffer than a stock RS strut" So yes, they are very stiff. And I like them, I've put themon three imprezas, including my wife's.
  20. Ya know. . . I dig your buggy and would love to see pics of it in action. But, we aren't allowed to post up the pics of our Toyotas on here, we get bannished to non-soob offroad. That's where this thread should be too. That's why I moved the last one.
  21. Speaking of snow. I looked out of my bedroom window and the Olympics were out in view. They are also covered with snow. I want to do that instead of Rally X. . .
