  1. It'll ride like a rock too. Mess up the outside of your tires from the funny camber too. It'll sure pull funny to one side or another when you get on it in 2wd ta boot! Or. lower the back half down a little.
  2. After owning 2 Sammis, one of them locked in the rear, and one of them lifted, and only owning one Toyota. . . The Toyota hands down. Wouldn't ever want to get behind one of those Sammis again. They wheel to beat hell, but they drive down the road "like a piece of plywood." That from a guy who we met on the trail several times in our Soobies. He owned a company that fabbed up fancy off road goodies for Samurais too. A rag top is lame in cold weather, and the box ones would be lame in the Summer. Think about being able to keep up with traffic. Can't do it in a Sammi. Unless you start dumping motor and stuff into it. That 1.3 is pretty gutless. And not very reliable.
  3. Like everytime this vid pops up, I have to comment that it's not a jeep. It's a Toyota.
  4. I knew that guy in highschool. "Ifi Wouldabeen" :-p
  5. Like Ken said, there's really no time to stop and take pics like the old days when someone was always having problems with the obstacles. Now we just roll along at a slow speed untill we decide to stop. . . Get to see a lot of trail that way. But I did get a couple of pozer pics. Ken saw me do it and did it too. Here's how it's done. 3.2 FTW! lol Rob shootin' Ken showin' off. One of the flat, level, boring parts of the trail where we'd pulled off to swill beverages. Rob as we were taking off again.
  6. Quote of the day: "The way Zap took looked like pain. So I took the other way." The guys at the top of the hill were pretty amazed about the time I pulled on up and told them my truck has open diffs. I told Ken at the bottom, 'If you can make it with a welded diff, I can make it open'. Just about ate my words too, that was one hell of a climb. God I love my fuel injection!!!
  7. mm hmm. The tires I have on my impreza for street use are 225/55/17s. They're just barely smaller than my 27 inch swampers. Rim size doesn't matter, it's the tire size.
  8. The speedo on my Brat is on and off. Usually it pegs at about 40 actual miles per hour. But once and a while, it works properly.
  9. Here's one with imp RS wheels and 205/55/16s?
  10. So no un-clocking it? Just do the opposite of putting it up a notch.
  11. In the For Sale section, AKA the Marketplace, there's a forum just for posts about stuff for sale on craigslist/eBay. Mods?
  12. Well, I was right about the no more tabs part. . . My Brat would still fit, cuz it's not insured as my daily driver, the truck is. Cheapest that way. Imp is insured as a second car.
  13. I think that here in WA, anfter 25 years, a car can become a collector's vehicle. Means you buy the plate saying so, and then no more tabs. 2 more years for 2 of my vehicles. lol
  14. Looks like the tranny connects straight to the rear diff. Who needs a friggin' driveline? lol I like it!
  15. Here ya go, a pic of it exploded. Tell your friend to call while in LA. Maybe we can get it shipped to him over night or something. PM me for my phone #.
  16. Tex, pm me your email addy, I'll send the 5 or 6 pics you took.
  17. Tex was in some pretty sweet company. Before him was a baddass XR4Ti turbo. Beautiful noise out of the back. Couple of friggin' volvos too. I didn't stick around to ask.
  18. USA's a pretty big place. Where exactly? 200 bucks max around Seattle, Washington. There's a junk yard 6 blocks away from me that's Soob only. They ALWAYS have one or more laying around. YOu could just take the innards out and bring them back home. Then swap them into your diff. (read Mick's write up in the repair manual. Qman did one too I think)
  19. I'd agree with the term "cult" being used to describe the folks of the USMB. Cults worship a certain item and shun all others, shun outsiders. Ask most of the folks in the off road section. They all tend to get hissy and stuff if a non-Subaru shows up there. I've owned some 30 Subarus. I've lost count. I love the AWD. If Subaru didn't make AWD/4WD, I'd drive a honda or a toyota. (I do have a Toyota for wheeling, it'll chew up the average highly modded, big tire wearing, lifted Soob and spit it out. And it's stock except for 33s and a 3 inch spring lift. Cost about as much to build a Soob.) But I'll tell ya something I've aquired here at the USMB besides knowing terms like "clocked", "4X140", "topper", and "pitch stopper". I have a place to stay in: All over WA State Oregon: Portland, Medford, Eugene CA: Sacremento, San Diego, SF more Idaho Montana Iowa Nevada Texas Minnesota (I'm sure Numbchux'd put me up if I needed it ) Connecticut Indiana (you still there Fox?) Utah Colorado South Dakota And maybe a few other States in a pinch. I've met some 120+ USMB folks in person, done business with half of them, and broke bread with most of them. I've had maybe 15 different members stay at my house, probably 50 have been there at one time or another. I have 10 or more of their numbers in my celly on speed dial. I'll be 40 next year. I've owned 2 Fords, 1 Chevy. No Dodges.
  20. What Miles said. The right tool for the job. Buy two in case you lose one. Home Depot should carry them too.
  21. Got back a minute ago. Tex's Ultimate RX did very well. I'll let him tell you exactly just what the numbers were, but let's just say it did better than a stock WRX.
  22. Almost certainly what your problem is. You can go to an emmissions specialist, pay 150 bones, get a waiver. Or you can go find a Weber 32/36 for about 3 bills, hook it up properly, pass emmissions and have a better running more powerful brat.
