December 2. Meet at Enumclaw Miky D's at 9:30, planning on leaving there at 10 sharp. Come on up and join us, it will be fun for the whole family!! Bring your kids and dogs. UPDATE!!! We went yesterday(Saturday) and there will have to be some minimum requirements... Snow tires will be required for AWD vehicles. 4WD trucks must have good tires! No baldies! Anyone running swampers should be OK. You will need extra clothes, shovels, food and extraction equipment(ie, shovels, straps, sand etc). And most importantly, common sense. Vehicles that do not have these things will not be allowed to travel with us. Don't mean to be harsh but safety is a bigger concern than upsetting someone.

Well, keep it ready, the X-mas tree run is on the 2nd of December. I think this will be a pretty good year for us. Yeah, I photo shopped all of them. I never really went to the snow. . . 2000km away. I have to drive 40 minutes to get to snow. But I have to pick which pass first.

Another.

I got to ride in that car. It was either one of the funnest times I've ever had, or one of the scariest. When the radiator hose blew ar about 50 mph on a skinny rump roast dirt road, covering the windshield in antifreeze, I had to ask to be let out.

Nobody showed up, so I went up with just my Toy and my buddy Brian riding along. We were the only truck up there with the snowmobiles. The cherokee with the command track and studded snow tires backed out waaaaaayyyy before we sere forced to stop. The pic below is deceiving, it's a pretty big hill. We backed up and pushed forward a whole bunch of times before giving up. The snow was up to the bumper, but the tires were sitting on about 12 inches. When we tried to walk in it, we sunk to our waists. When we turned around below, the drift was up over my tires. Had to do a bit of digging to get out, about 2 minutes, the snow was really fine and light weight. I'm pretty friggin impressed with the Firestones! Aired down to 12 lbs, they just pushed me forward with practically no slippage the whole way. No tire tracks to follow the whole time, just snowmobile tracks. It was a challenge keeping the truck at 20mph, keeping it on the trail and taking pics of Brian on the way back down. I lost it once and gat some pretty gnarly fish tails, made me laugh pretty hard.

Change-o-plans! Headed to the pass to play in the snow. I'll be leaving my house at about 9 a.m. No lift needed! All are welcome.

You legacy isn't gonna go anywhere on those roads. If things go right, I'll be using my winch this weekend. I know my buddy will have open seats in his FJ. I may or may not have a passenger with me. Meet up with us in the a.m. Maybe you could meet Scott at the gas station at the exit and leave your car there. Buddy's FJ:

Tire size isn't the only thing that will affect mileage. Tread pattern and air pressure will change it the most. I notice a huge difference in resistance when the tires are deflated to low pressure for offroading when I get them back on the road. Fill them to 40 lbs, and then it's all good again. My street tires for the impreza are 28 inchers (225/55/17), and I get almost 30 mpg on the highway. My wife's impreza, same year, gets 27 mpg on the highway. I'd have to argue Noah. A stock 98 OB comes with 205/70/15s. Practically a 27. So, your tire size isn't going to change much or affect your gas mileage one way or another with a "27". It will all depend on the tire tread you choose. Also the width of the tread, having to do with surface resistance and all that. But just for good measure. This gets asked a lot.

Do you have better photos of your bumper? It looks well done, I'd like to cut mine, but I've been chicken, scared of getting it wrong. You car looks sweet with the swampers. I've got this feeling you'd be one to lift it if the kits become available. . .
-
That's right. Everybody's a doubter until they get to use one, I was. Then it's no going back.

My impreza is no legacy, but looked cool when I had swampers on it for a minute.

Ya know, I don't remember. I haven't been there since I owned the green/black hatch and Ken still had his hatch. I should dig out the tape cuz it's dated, but I think not since 02 or so. I only went twice, both times Todd and his crew led the way. Looking at the map, I believe we entered somewhere near where you do. Is it pretty much a climb for the first half mile or so? Have you got it on the video I sent? Look at the line up above and refer to the map. Remember the part where Ken hits the tree, repeat, repeat? That would be where we go in. This look familiar? This?

I'm jealous Mick. I haven't got to play in some good mud for a while. . . Hoping for lots of rain between now and Oct.7!

Looks like some little Brat was whippin' on them pretty good! Quotes Scotty, "I'm givin' her all she's got!" -
What Sweet just said. Tough to shave weight off of a Brat. And what he said. With the rain comes the cold, it's late September. Glass and doors are nice when it's cold. You should have started this thread in June. lol

A little story about how cool the Soob community is around here. Out of the blue last week, Ed called to say he'd heard I needed fans for my radiator in my imp.. He then tells me that he's on his way to Pull a Part and that he would gladly pull some if he found them. Later that day, I check in on the board to find two pms from Ed. The first saying that he had no luck at PaP, and that he'd check his "stash". The second PM saying that he found two out in his pile. He dropped them off the next day with the pug wheel I requested. All for a very reasonable price. They were for a legacy, so were different, but I got them in and they cool my car quite well. Some few weeks ago, Tex had offered to help pull the wiring harness the donor legacy. I asked him about it last week, but it's getting pretty close to his really big day and he's pretty busy. No prob, I'm pretty busy too. Mid-day yesterday I got a call from Noah. What the hell is Noah calling me for in the middle of the day? "Afternoon Noah." "Afternoon, I heard you need a wiring harness pulled." So he comes down yesterday evening and pulled it for me. And when I offered to pay him, he refused it, saying that I'd probably given him a thing or two in the past. I'll pay him just he same. So, yeah whilst the Hatch Patrol seems to be limited to a once a year meet for an X-mas tree run to Greenwater and the WCSS, we're still a pretty tight knit group. Good stuff.

We all had to learn somewhere Corky. Dr. RX could be argue'd about you too. Hint: Spark plugs in a certain RX.
