  1. Kumho Venture M/T, 27/8.50/14 or a 26.5, whatever. Just what you're looking for. 4 mounted and balanced and taxed and delivered for $401.00 from Discount Tire. They work fine on unlifted rigs.
  2. This to improve my lot in the (friendly) competition between Me and Austin and Andyjo. Traded away some struts and springs for the wheels. The have some killer offset, it will fling plenty of mud at WCSS8! They're a lot lighter than the XT6 wheels too. Can't wait till it's finally lifted. . .
  3. I'd like to say I thought of it, but my neighbor told me. Send that vaccuum hose up to the air intake, just out side the air filter somewhere. Your engine will breath in and suck what little water or condensation that gets into your disty right into your air filter. The amount of water isn't enough to cause problems. Done.
  4. Crap. It's been some time since I learned different than I put in that post about the similarities of the OB versus Forester. I went in and changed it in the FAQ over a month ago. I just up and spaced this post. Trust me, it's not my intention to mislead people, I'm honestly trying to help.
  5. Looks good. Two ideas for improvement. . . Move your radiator, that way you can pull the bumper back and regain the approach angle you're giving up with how you have it now. You'll be closer to the frame rails, more leverage for pulling. Build it so the winch turns sideways and bolts to the front of the bumper. Makes it much stronger. See the photo below for reference. Sorry about the plate being in the way. A plate above it will strengthen it signifigantly.
  6. OK. First, I used Outback Struts. They seem to clear tires differently. Second. I used the 14 inch wheels, which may or may not have a different offset. Third. The set up in the rear of a coupe may be different than a wagon. (The brat, hatchback, and wagon ea81s all have different shock mounts in the rear, although they use the same shock) Fourth. I only mounted the swampers onto my imp for a short time, and only did it for shnits and giggles. I would suggest hunting down a different set of wheels with a little more back spacing. Maybe some forester wheels. Theyt may cost you 35 bucks each or something, but I would stay away from big wheel spacers. (just me)
  7. Now you see my reason. . . Look at the white part showing up on the outside of the red. That will show up , I know cuz I neglected to paint that part once.
  8. I gotta say it. You guys were ready to ban me when I showed a couple of pics of my car with its 17s, so where's your mud that would make this an off road topic? But while we're on the subject, you are gonna want to paint the outter rings better, they will show up after you put on your tires.
  9. I'm headed out there tomorrow a.m. till Sunday a.m. Anybody who cares to drop in and get a little wheeling under their belt is welcome. We have some pretty sweet trails right on the property. Chimacum, on the Olympic Penninsula. Lemme know. PM me for a map.
  10. I have one and it's all hooked up. I'm headed out to the cabin this weekend to get familiar with it.
  11. Yeah yeah. We've been thru that already. Starts with pug wheels. Ends with nissan transfer case and solid axle. Still a Subaru, still welcome in the comunity. I just get tired of these fantasy posts. ("what if. . .") How about more posts saying "Look what I did!"
  12. Everybody busy? Not sure their Soobie is up to it? Too far? What's up? The first time I ever went thru, it was in a group of 5 stock Soobs. Plenty of fun to be had.
  13. I found the cd of the videos you made. It's got all of us going in and then out. There's 2 others that I couldn't open for some reason, codec or some crap. Send me a pm with your snail mail addy, I'll throw a copy in an envelope and send it off. You guys have a copy of the "EZ's Favorites", go for it. Sweet! I'd love to see what you can do. Send me a PM with your US addy, I'll make some copies to send.
  14. Sweet write up. Do you any kind of feel like GOing thru this thread and Summarizing it all so we can add a Q and A to the FAQ? (I'll put your name on it) lol
  15. Bummer. Kinda says something about the spotters. I spotted Ken, who was spotting me. But really. I took a long time cuz I was taking the line up the side rather than just going thru. Ken had a welded diff. . . I was open still. Lemme know, we'll whip out an hour's worth of DVD, I've got a tape ready to go.
  16. Too bad you guys can't use vhs. . . I've put together no less than 5 hours of it. Anybody out there have quality ability to transfer vhs to dvd? ? ?
  17. I'm really up in the air. As much as I wanna rally x and win one of those special medalions, I also really wanna go out to the cabin and celebrate the 4th. . . Tough call.
  18. The attachments you added show exactly the problem I had putting in the WRX struts and springs. The top hats are completely different.
  19. Gotcha. This is what I'm talking about. I assumed the leg and imp struts were the same in a wagon. . . Who can say? The OB spring has more coils, they are wider and thicker as well.
  20. Coolest stump pose yet! Jump in that thing with him and join us at Evans Creek on July 8 and 9. Make it happen man!
  21. I used 96 legacy outback (kyb) struts and (stock) springs. I had some initial problems with clunking in the rear. It was because the bottom spring perch was rubbing against the inner wall. So I pulled them off and hit it plenty with the bfh on both sides and got rid of the clunking. It's good and raked in the back. I like it. I'm old school, you shoulda seen my 69 mustang when I was 18.
