Baja build nearing completion with lift, tires and wheels done!
ezapar replied to subarubrat's topic in Members Rides
New project looks awesome! I like it better than the old brat even. -

I test drove both, after 2 1/2 years of driving the cvt, I love it. Other peoples' opinions are irrelevant. The hatch will get cleaned up a bit and eventually be sold back to my buddy who I got it from. If he doesn't want it, I'll sell it. Either way, it will be parts for my Jeep after the winter passes and the weather warms up.

Your'e crazy. Happy? lol You'd have to drive the crosstrek. . . It really is something else.

If you put jeep axles under your toyota, would it make it less of a toyota? No. Or Unimog stuff under your Jeep. Still a Jeep. Quit. Just say. "I'm jealous, and my best attempt at the ultimate Subaru off roader wasn't even close." That would be the right reply.

2016. The Khaki took a long time to grow on me. The blue is too crazy, the other blue only comes with ivory interior. The white is available with black interior now, but I dunno. . . Already had a silver one, too many of them, the black and dark gray are too hard to keep clean. The Khaki seems easy to maintain, will still look sharp enough with out being IN YOUR FACE like the yellow. I got the email back from the dealer yesterday, gonna order one rather than buy one set up already. Don't care for the leather, too hot on my little girl's skin in the summer, too cold in the winter. But I wanted eyesight and blind spot detector crap though. The Subaru Ambassador program is about to offer 500 dollars off of a new car for members. Waiting for that to kick in. Costco offers 200 bucks off on accessories, will take advantage of that too. Here is the information on the 2016 Crosstrek Premium Khaki Premium MSRP: 24,245 Invoice: 23,014 EyeSight® + SUBARU STARLINK™ 7.0 Multimedia Plus + Blind Spot Detection/ Rear Cross Traffic Alert MSRP: 1,995 Invoice: 1,772 Tweeter: MSRP: 147 Invoice: 95 Upgrade Speaker MSRP: 318 Invoice: 206 Security Shock Sensor: MSRP: 196 Invoice: 127 Spoiler MSRP: 350 Invoice: 227 Auto Dim Mirror/Compass MSRP: 210 Invoice: 136 Center Console: MSRP: 30 Invoice: 20 Rear Seat Back Protector MSRP: 75 Invoice: 48 Total MSRP: 27,566 Total Invoice: 25,645 Your Price: Ain't tellin' the general public.

I haven't got to see one in person to judge the hyper blue. Thinking more along the lines of the Khaki. Limited.

They discontinued the orange. Never did like it. Am used to it. . . Already had a metallic gray one, too hard to keep clean.

Too bright for me JesZek, Gonna tone it down with a different color.

You can get a set of tires and wheels shipped for as cheap as 580.00. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/cart/showCart.do And yes, 215/65/16 will be fine, almost the exact diameter as the stock 225/55/17s.

You will do way better buying a set of tires and wheels than putting snows on your stock wheels and then remounting the street tires after winter is over. Why? You can always sell your snow set up at the end of winter and get most of your money back. Mounting the tires on wheels costs 15-20 bucks each corner. Yes, you'll have no problem with steelies, that's what I have for my winter set up. I have 225/60/16s. They are really close to the stock height, the speedo is on time. You should be able to buy a set of used snow tires and wheels on craigslist for cheap. My set cost me 100 dollars, the tires are like new. Dude sold his forester and bought a toyota. I slapped a coat of Rustoleum on them, they look great. Spend a few days/weeks constantly checking craigslist near you, you'll find that awesome deal. If you really want a new set, go to discounttiredirect.com and buy a set of tires and wheels. They will mount and balance and ship them for free.

The bushings were all shot, 110k and 11 years of being in there. The guy before me clearly wheeled it a lot. I've put a ton of off road miles on it, I know they've taken a serious beating. The uppers are indeed thinner. But they won't rub against rocks or anything like that. Compared to the stock arms, they're pretty beefy. Plus, they are screwed all the way in pretty much. They're adjustable enough to be also used on the LJ. I have confidence. It rides so much better now, all the clunks and bangs over bumps are gone. I still have to replace the front uppers with new ones to iron out the last of the bad bushings. Then the shocks and it should ride like new.

There are videos on youtube about how to disable the chimes. If you have one that still uses a key.

Stupid imageshack is down, so pics ain't showin' up right now. So for the time being, we use attachments. I had an extra 3 0r 4 hun laying around that I figured I'd throw at Butch. I KNOW I need shocks, the bushings are cracked and toast. But I also wanted adjustable rear control arms so I could angle the pinion up a little so I could get rid of the spacers lowering the transfer case. So I decided to do the arms first. It turned out to be pretty cut and dry, a pretty simple swap as far as things go. It turns out, I chose correctly. I was > < so close to some serious carnage. Get a load of the busted upper control arm from the passenger side.
