  1. USMB's been good to me. The list below is all people I've met (that I can think of off hand). With the exception of 8 names, I've met them all more than once. Chances are I've camped out at more than one WCSS with most of them. Several I see or talk to on the phone on a regular basis. Pretty cool stuff. In no particular order. . . richierich lepiteprince chef tim vickaroo subarujunkie qman dr.rx edrach subarutex nomica ozified dustyrider eurowrx glcraiggt flowmaster subiegal mikew carfreak nvzeno mykeystoy zefy ratty2soob superrallyro syrinx shawnw mcbrat mudrat bahavwandsoob oneeye xsnrg rooinator rainbowroo subiefreak adamndj scoobyclimbs hondasucks turbone snowman northguy sparkster noah jawsdawg eltoro jubs calebz svengouli baccaruda milesfox evervictorious bluesoob chryslr djbroadus subiebeast lumpycam jeffv szigi harpua subarustyles soobmater oddcomp samo syphon bratsrus1 bratsco scoobywagon shamandave garner mrcarb danboob ricochet **edit **wait there's more subystomper soobme generaldisorder denniss mendodave lumpc1 todds caboobaroo bratwerst jonofscio mtsfabsman suberdave magnificentSoob subarweenie myossfeece kingwill dante cluelesscarchick wrenchsench subieman smartservice deathhatch snowone Who'd I miss? 2. I highly recommend a stop at Mick's. But I don't think you get the "Iowa Meal" till your second or third visit. If you stop in Seattle on your way, I ain't lettin ya leave.
  3. I do not. But I've been thinking about it. For the meantime, I've got my trusty little floor jack and several pieces of 2X6 and 4X4. So when are you gonna come out with us wheeling, btw? Walker Valley in January? ***note to self: Bonco II I learned to drive a clutch in one of the first ones in the early 80s.
  4. Ken runs 31 inch swampers. Scott is running 33 inch swampers. Mudrat ran 32 inch mudders. LumpyCam ran 30s and 31s. The bigger you get the skinnier your axles begin to look. With the exception of Ken, he has a solid rear.
  5. I'll be along in my Toy. Room for tents for the night? If you don't mind digging yourself out while the rest of us are off wheeling. Lift, mudders, rear locker at least. Pretty rough trails. The last time we went up there, it kicked the crap out of the Hatch Patrol. I think every last one of us broke stuff. The two stock ones that came only pissed us off. We had to push and pull and dig them out the whole time.
  6. Dude. You're in denial. You drive a bronco. This thread has to do with what to bring with your S U B A R U. But while you're here. Have you ever had to use you highlift with your bronco? And thank you Chux. It would be pretty absurd to assume I was talking about putting a highlift under your diff. Floor jack, big ones weigh 80 lbs, I've read the package on mine. I am talking aobut a small one, wrapped in a tarp it fits behind my seat. 20lbs tops. Read the whole post before you start spouting off you bran spankin newbie.
  7. Yeah, the best place in the rear of the car to lift it would be the rear diff.
  8. I totally see the point of having one with a bigger rig. But after all the times I've been out with Soobs in the offroad we've only had reason to use one once. . . .We used part of the handle to sleeve a broken front strut on Lumpy Cam's Unhatched while we were at the Rubicon. The rest of the time it was me ribbing fellow Hatch Patrollers about lugging that extra 60 lbs while they were smoking their clutches trying to get over some obstacle. A small peice of plywood for footing, small floor jack and 3 2X6s nailed together for reach is all I ever needed. A come-along rocks to have period. I've used one of those many many many times. My advice being to bring some kind of block of wood that you can use under your rocker panels to distribute the load. The bumpers on the Soob aren't gonna take too many lifts with a high lift. They strap down to the roof rack pretty nicely.

    aa vs byb

Lots of each. Do a few searches and you'll find plenty of posts about both kits. In the end, they both make lift kits for soobs. I'm closing this to keep any kind of arguement from happening. Like I said, do some searches, visit their wesites.
  10. So what about smart rump roast Californians who used to be dumb rump roast Alaskans? lol j/k Had to say it. I think you're better off as far away from Salem as possible.
  11. Does now. You'll notice I brought it back up for additions and update stuff.
  12. I wanna add a post onto the FAQ that shows the different bumpers that have been put on a Soob, from factory, to aftermarket, to home fabbed. Just post pics please, no conversation. Any posts without pics, will be deleted.... Here's a page that Mick has put together. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/pushbar/pushbar.html Thanks all.
  13. Once my gets the next phase of his FJ finished, I'm sure I could talk him into folowing me up in my Toy. I'd love to have a guide thru, a place to fix broken stuff afterwards would kick rump roast. (I saw your Meet&Greet post) Who knows? Maybe Qman's Brat will be back on the (off)road again. That was about 5? years ago. We later did the Rubicon in some more heavy duty Soobs. Afterwards we wondered why the Hell we drove 12-1400 miles to 4X when that at Walker trail matched pretty much everything we came across at the Rubicon. Plus there was a lot of mud too, which makes it 10 times as fun. Slippery rocks are funner than grippy rocks in my book.
  14. It's been a long time, don't remember what the trail was called, but we did a pretty friggin' rocky trail the first time I ever went thru. This rock slab? The locals called it the "Shark Fin". It put a dent int he gas tank so big that it took a gallon less at the pump. lol Really. No leak though. . .
  15. Get a hold of Jaws Dawg. He fabbed up a really cool mount for shocks in the rear of his ea81 wagon.
  16. Just went and visited Donny and his lil/big bro. His spirits are good. Pain is there, but they are keeping him drugged, so it's not too bad. Says his boys are with their Mom.
  17. I got a call from his bro last night. Donny's out of his first surgery. I'm gonna go and visit him today, anybody wanna go a long?
  18. Thanks for the hijack. Wanna start you own thread?
  19. If you can get the swampers in a 14 and can get 14 inch pugs, do so. More tire between the rim and ground. You can deflate them more offroad. The pug rims have a decent offset. The Toy rims tend to give too much offset, meaning you have to cut more to make them fit without rubbing on turns.
  20. I think I can get a way to go to EC next weekend. I'm dying to take the Toy there.
  21. The second time Ken got stuck trying a "Rockford"
