  5. Actually, I think that a search for skidplate/speedometer/ratios will turn up the correct answers. Shouldn't be much more than 25% + or - if the skid plate's not too thick.
  6. At least we got 4 laps. lol I'm with you as to wanting a little wider track. Who can say why this last one was so skinny, possibly to enter the PIR circuit as gently as possible. I did hear it was done that way on purpose. . . Most times the track is designed the night before or the morning of, so it would be tough to get on the website with warning. What I would recommend to you: Save your breath complaining about the conditions on the USMB and show up at their meetings, have a say. Vollunteer to help set up the course. That's probably your best bet at having any input in how the lay out of the track turns out. Know that the people who are putting this on are getting tired of vollunteering to do so. Negative feedback will only make them less enthused about working as hard as they do in the future.
  7. Drivers cause rigs to flip, not clearance. Here's a non lifted Brat on 195/70/14s. (pictured: at least one Brat owner who owes Mudrat a foavor.)
  8. It can be tough to push those tires with a stock gear ratio. Climbing over stuff at low speeds is rough on the clutch. I get what you're saying. But, there's lots of situations that just plain require finesse. I can show you on my vids just what I mean. Take for example how Ken pushed past the trees and into the mudhole with no problems. Mike W following punched it, slid sideways and completely crushed this door up against a tree. Plenty of the trails we go on twist and wind thru trees that rub your mirrors on both sides because they're so thin. Forget bringing a full size chevy, much less a HahaHummer. Also think along the lines like this: These newer types that are getting into the lifted world tend to cost a little more. I understand beating the piss out of a 600 dollar hatch with 5 hundred bucks worth of lift and tires. Take me as example, my OBS cost 4500 plus tax and license. Wheels/tires, struts/springs, clutch, other misc. stuff and I'm into it for over 6 grand. It's pretty too. I'm not too keen on the idea of bashing it up against a tree cuz the manly thing to do is give it more gas. To me, there's nothing wrong with going down the road and looking good too. What if I want to sell it? Big dents depreciate the value like nothing else. The power comes up at about 2-3grand. In first gear at 3 grand, you're flying way to fast to be able to control it in a sticky situation. Popping the clutch after a big rev will just smoke the clutch when trying it with bigger tires.
  9. Very cool looking!!! The blacked out wheels look sweet. I dig how the driveline and exaust are still tucked. Nothing ruins the effect of a lifted roo than an exaust pipe hanging 4 inches below the bottom of the car. If the guy who owns it is unsatisfied with the power loss because of 29s, tell him to contact www.Rallitek.com for a perfect power chip. Sean installed one in my OBS, it's way more peppier now. Gets better gas mileage too. Over 30mpg with 28s. Did you change out the springs with the struts or stay with stock springs? You'll be way happier if you hold out for Outback/Forester springs too.
  10. Sorry, no pay pal. I'll take checks, money orders or cash.
  11. Here's your big chance. I'll sell copies to anyone who sends me payment within 2 weeks. I thought they were retired, but this is for a good cause. My buddy's girl crashed her bicycle a week ago and lost three of her front teeth. We're trying to raise funds to get her implants before her self confidence takes too much of a beating. We're also having a fundraiser/party on Oct 1rst. VHS only. Vid is a collection of the best footage out of my 5 part series. Plus other stuff. 99% Subaru. Lots of 'em too. And not just footage of the same Subaru going back and forth splashing thru mud puddles. I'm talking mud, snow, rocks, mud, deep water, hill climbs, mud. Well over an hour's worth. Hopefully some of you who have seen it will pipe in here to say what you thought of it. Anyways, you can contact me via PM and I'll send you my mailing address for payment. 10 bucks shipped. Please. If I'm not gonna have your payment by October 5, don't send it, cuz I'll send it back to you. I promptly ship via USPS (2-3 days) after I receive your $. VHS Only, $10.00 shipped to your address.
  12. I was all over that win till Sean pulled the e-brake and didn't let it go and caused me to spin all the way around on my third run. . . DOH! The eight cones hit that lap were pretty much on purpose after the spin. . . Anyways, the only thing I'm bummed about is that the person who took the photos on the link you posted didn't take any of my wagon. A couple of people said it was throwing pretty good rooster tails. And thanks for the email btw Ed. And congrats to you on your win John!
  13. He managed to work it so the boost would go to 15 psi before a cut. No really. If you think you sould be confused tuning a perfect power, it might not be for you. Just this last weekend Sean tuned one for me in my 96 2.2 OBS, and it has big time more pull than it had. A lap top and a buddy and some experimentation with more or less fuel and or more or less timing and your car will be happier. Power wize and fuel economy wize.
  14. I have 225/60/16s on my impreza 2.2, 5 spd. Basically a 28. 27 1/2? Whatever. I got about 29 mpg this last weekend in going to Portland. But 40 miles of that was tuning the new chip. ie: Put on the 27/8.50/14 mudders, got on the free way in the right lane, and began dropping way behind the car in front of me, and punching it till I was out of space, repeat. (nothing crazy, mostly 3rd gear at 40 and up to about 75 in 5th, speed limit 65.) Quick bursts. Also did four laps of RallyX. Put the Bahas back on and filled the tank pretty much. Haven't got down on the tank enough to check how good it does with the chip, but I still have a half a tank after 180 or so miles driving home from Portland. I'm guessing it will pan out to about 33 or more mpg. It's got way more uumph now with the chip too. perfect power baby. **The toyota seems to get well over 30 mph with 33s. lol
  15. Scott Make some dates, choose a place. We'll show up. Most weekend I can get away for a day. Reiters is a cool place cuz it's pretty Northern. Evans Creek ORV Park is way cooler, but a little far for you guys way up there near the border. It'd have to be a weekend thing. BUt worth it, very awesome wheeling. My Father's cabin in Chimacum is a pretty cool place to go for a weekend. Lots of cool wheeling within 15 minutes of the property.
  16. You have to join some kind of Yahoo group. Ain't doin' it. Any other sites to look at results?
  17. People in Montana/Idaho/Eastern WA. seem to be pretty cool like that. I managed to get my Grampa's hammer back, it had to pass thru 3 board members' hands though. lol Poor little Brat, at least you can rest a little easier knowing you weren't behind the wheel when it passed. hehe
  18. How about this? http://rallitekforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=23370#post23370
  19. You guys need to start posting new photos. ADOG, all of yours are in the other two threads too. ie: Who's who and the Offroad Pic Here's mine from this past Summer. Imp in the woods. High speed drifty stuff!
  20. Your wagon will do fine, Flomaster8?GL has been racing one in the Rally X (mostly mud) for years now. The question is. . . Will you the driver, being inexperienced, be able to put the power down and make it perform?
  21. indeed. The "ultimate" RX would be one that starts up and drives. Just having a license plate and an ej20t doesn't make it anything but a hogger of space if it doesn't run. @ the guy who possesses it. I must say, if it will go faster in a straight line than an STI, it would be pretty ultimate indeed.
  22. I was trying out my Toy, so Ken had to do it too. lol *my basically stock toy*
