  1. I'm was going thru my post in the Meet and Greet and noticed that most all of the people responding are owners of olld gen rides. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=39174 Bring your Legacys, bring your Foresters. (big chance to paly with them on forest roads. . . It'll be a good time.
  2. LOL. Kinda like sitting at the bus stop and repeatedly checking the schedule. You ain't getting on the bus till the bus gets there. No seriously, we're not sure yet. I'll be headed down this weekend to check out the condition of the offroad section. They've recently had a 4X4 show that supposedly tore it up pretty good. (there are 50-70 miles of trails of various types connected to the fairgrounds.)
  3. We'll most likely be up late. Your idea of stopping in, taking care of business and then heading to Port Orchard sounds like a good idea. You'll get a better chance of choosing your neighbors. The fairgrounds are literally 30 seconds from 101.
  4. Please speak up if you intend to show up, it will help us to be better prepared if we have an idea of how many folks will attend. Please stay on topic. Appreciated. EZ I'll be there with both of our imprezas.
  5. I have a pretty sweet book on camping sites and stuff that I'll hand ya when you get here. Personal recommendations as to where to hike? My idea of hiking is "being able to see my car from where I hike to". lol
  6. Truck floor mats. They kill road noise, protect the wiring, and are easy to pull out and clean. Fred Meyer, Schucks, and Wallmart are good places to get them.
  7. I think that rocks! I think it totally out weighs the fact that Chux blew a couple of axles. For the record, we blew up a stub axle in the rear of Ken's Brat when we hit the Rubicon. (Ken has a BYB kit)
  8. You guys should try to get there in the mid to late afternoon. Nothings gonna be available till Ken and I get there to begin setting things up. I'm aiming for early afternoon.
  9. Friday we signed on a portable espresso stand/RV. We'll have caffeine from Friday evening till Sunday a.m.
  10. Haven't ever head of any problems, I've been attending since WCSS2. Last year we camped and had no problems with theft. I personally left my keys in the ignition of my unlocked lifted hatch over night both nights. . . It can't hurt to meet a few people and camp near them and watch eachothers' stuff. Wagon circle type thing.
  11. Yeah, bottom of the pile in Open, but 1 and 2 over all. . .
  12. You could hardly call it offroading when in an impreza. No D/R means keeping it pretty mellow off pavement. But, I'm betting they'd rather hear about the minor stuff I've done in the impreza instead of the gnarly rump roast stuff I've done in the ea81 types. My rigs are always insured.
  13. I bought KYBs for an Outback. Springs were used from same. Probably got 3-4 inches in the front, definitely 4 in the back.
  14. That's right. Too much offset with your wheels will do that. The angle that the "lift" for the impreza creates for the cvs is not so bad at all.
  15. Jus-so-ya-know. . . That day is a rally x, a bunch of us will be in OR.
  16. They were there. I did put fake bullet holes down the side of one of my brats, it had a series of dings, they filled the dents nicely.
  17. Rob kinda called him out. . . I think it would be kinda cool to see how our Soobies stack up against a built Sammi. I'm for it. He gets stuck, photos appear in Subiesport of him being pulled out by a Soob. . .
  18. I'd like to see more stuff about Japanese models. Maybe you could dig up stories and photos of 80s cars that were only offered in Japan. Early Rally cars and stuff. The evolution (no pun intended, lol) of the Subaru Rally car would be cool.
  19. We'll get back to meeting sooner or later. Busy with other things right now. And I'm bummed you're leaving. And Minnesota? ? ? :-\ If you're gonna move, don't move to someplace with terrain like Washington. (The middle of the country is pretty flat and boring) You oughta try Santa Barbara CA or someplace sunny with a beach. Gimme a call, I may or may not still have video you don't already have a copy of. Feel free to use whatcha like to make whatch like.
  20. I'm not so sure you want the scorpion springs too. I have the outback springs to go with the struts, and it's pretty stiff. I gained 4 inches of lift. If the scorpion springs are taller than those, I'd say they'd have to be too stiff. Highrise Subaru makes lifts for them. I've considered one. I'd think that a lift, even 2 inches, on top of the struts and springs would make it pretty tall.
  21. I kinda think that more than an inch of down travel is needed for offroading. Wheels on the ground = traction. Traction = go. Go is good. The big rock buggies have a gazillion inches of down travel. I found that when 4 wheeling, (and trust me, I've wheeled Soobs as much as anyone on the planet) that my cars did the best with the torsion bar cranked down to the bottom so the rear had as much flex as possible. I've been out with plenty of lifted Soobs that had the rears looking like this: / \ and the fronts like this: \ / Your rear can indeed have bad camber.
  22. I drove from Watertown NY, to Seattle, WA last Summer. Did it in 4 days, solo, driving a 4 door silverado hauling a 9,000 lb trailer.
