  1. Well if he indeed put a '94 shaft in a '95 the splines may have lined up, but the shaft might be too short and it didn't lock together. You would think that he compared parts before installed the new one though. There is a little slop built into the shaft even if it is the correct part.
  2. It sounds like the halfshaft popped out of the transaxle. All it takes is one side and the car goes nowhere. Was this your mechanics first halfshaft? The explanaition that he gave you sounds like he didn't quite know how the parts come apart/go together. Good Luck rectifying this.
  3. Mine had 6k on them, one of the wires was bad. I spent a bunch of money replacing items that didn't need replacing because I didn't believe it either. It doesn't cost anything to ohm test them.
  4. I had this problem a while back, my vote is for spark plug wires. I bet if you continue to drive, you'll eventually see that it will start skipping as well. GL
  5. I would hazzard a guess and say start with a new radiator cap. It sounds like the mechanism may be stuck.
  6. Well the brake job turned out to be easy. The old pads slipped out with minimal influence with a screwdriver and the rotors popped off with a few whacks of a hammer. Both sides only took about an hour total and the cost for parts was about $92. I was surprised to find a completely independent "drum brake" for the parking/emergency brake.
  7. So are you saying that premium fuel makes no difference except to your wallet?
  8. Thanks, I read something about screwing in the caliper, I didn't know that it was because of the parking brake. That could have been a mistake.
  9. Is it unusual for the rear brake pads to wear out before the front on my 2003 Forester? The car only has 38k miles and the rear pads are done. In every other car I've owned, the front wears first. I've got new rotors, pads, and packet of grease. This will be the first brake job I do on a Subaru, is there anything that I should know about Subaru brakes or is it just brakes as usual? Thanks Cjh
