  1. Okay... That was weird... Hey - just to let you guys know...if anyone so much as makes a joke about my queries in the future, I'm totally going to follow suit (copy bgd73): I will flip my lid and peace out for EVER. Never mind all the Subaru geniuses on this site that can help with nearly any problem and have a good time doing it... Wow... Okay, my bad...that was totally not called for. I'm a jerk. Sorry bgd73. I hope that bgd73 comes back...unless he is going to go postal again...
  2. Duh, man. Haven't you listened to the radio commercials? YOU CAN CALL THEM VIA TELEFONO!
  3. I've held about 400 lbs. (the weight of two grown people on lawn chairs) with my Yakima gutter-mounts.
  4. I think those will fit the raingutters... I think they're the smae as what I've got on my EA81. If not, get them anyway. I might buy the fairing off you, and maybe the bike rack, if you want to recover some of the cost...
  5. Hmm...those transmissions are interesting...perhaps even vexing...but I am starting to get it...
  6. I have the raingutter mount Yakimas. They are beefy...strong...rubust...manly...chunky...tough...strong... I love them. I haul all kinds of crap around with my racks. The only thing I've done that busted them is dragging a log (stupid, I know...). But other than that, they hold up like no other. My paint is unaffected after seven months of use. Anything that touches paint, Yakima puts rubber over.
  7. Yes. You push the button and get an instant link to an emergency service that can unlock your doors, call an ambulance, call a tow truck, etc...
  8. Dude, shh...that was my idea. That's why I'm asking him if he'll sell it! Quiet! I want the only EG-powered OBW! My idea!
  9. Okay. Here's my driving day... I drive 36 miles to school - 30 highway (60-65 MPH), six miles city (35-45 MPH) with a few stops. Then I drive 26 miles to work - 25 miles freeway (60-75 MPH), one mile up a long, windy road (30 MPH) with no stops. Then I drive 42 miles home - mixed freeway (60-75 MPH)/country roads (45-55 MPH). So...A little over 104 miles per day, mostly in a range of 45-70 MPH. My RPMs rarely ever go over 4,200. I checked my tire pressure. All were within 3 PSI. Fixed all of them to perfect. I have the stock Hitachi carb, stock-size all-seasons with 95% tread left, and a Yakima bike rack. I suppose the rack could affect it, but it's been on there since March and the mileage was never this bad then. I guess it must be time to check out the carb. It's running fine, but obviously something's wrong. Any ideas? I have never gotten above 22 MPG in it (owned it since March), but this 18 is exceptionally low - especially since I drive almost all highway. And yeah...I let it warm up for five to ten minutes every morning. ?
  10. 1982 GL wagon d/r 4 spd with a quarter of a million miles (257k). I searched. And I searched. I can find nothing wrong with my car. New air filter. New fuel filter. Fresh oil. Fresh oil filter. New plugs. New everything. I drive the speed limit. I don't rev it hard. On my highway commute, I do 62. She runs beautifully and even starts when it's cold outside (9* F this morning). The car is fine! At my last fill-up, I calculated (and re-calculated) 18.42 miles per gallon! What the heck?! Does anyone have ideas as to what might be the problem at hand? (And don't tell me to re-check my math. My math is *perfect*)
  11. It would be horrid to tear up an SVX. They are VERY rare. But...If you do, would you be interested in selling the engine separately?
  12. Uh huh...an actor... As in, the actor who plays MacGyver...As in, the coolest dude (right behind Chuck Norris) on the face of the planet...As in, that dude who should ride in your Subaru at all times...As in, that dude who could fix a leaky head gasket with six marbles and a sewing needle...As in, the dude who can pee on wheel bearings and they are silent. He is that good. That is why I included his name. That is why it's humorous. (Yeah...I guess I am pretty loquacious...nice word by the way...thanks...)
  13. Start here... http://www.yakima.com/Consumer/Step2.aspx I have Yakima Raptors on my car. I love them. You don't have to take the front tire off (you may not care if you have quick disconnects and non-disc brakes) and they're a breeze to install. They're $100 each at REI. Note: They will NOT work on carbon frames.
  14. I just like to keep Richard Dean Anderson in my wagon at all times... Eh? Get it? Get it? Come on, you guys...Richard Dean Anderson?
  15. Or they see the bank statement on your counter (the ONE TIME I have a substantial amount of $$ in there) and say "WTF? Dude, get a NEW CAR!" To which I must respond... "Ha ha ha...NEVER!"
  16. I can attest to that...I got sideswiped (I was the passenger) while pulling onto the highway...We were doing 10 MPH...the tanker was doing 65...my friend (driver) was on the cell phone...didn't see the big, shiny tube coming his way... anyway, adrenaline kept the pain away for a few hours, but when I woke up the next morning, I had whiplash (muscle tightness/spasm, misaligned spine/ribs) so terrible I could barely get out of bed. And it only got worse for three days. Get your hands on some opiants (you know, hydros, oxys, the good stuff) FAST. Take a few BEFORE it hurts.
  17. Man, there is something about it, isn't there? I have a nice Jeep, a somewhat quick 240SX and a couple Subes... I drive my '82 wagon every day. It's just more fun. It's louder, more obnoxious, etc...but by golly, I like it. When I want to go out and raise heck, I do it in the Sube. All my friends like the Sube. You can hear it coming from 3 miles away on a clear winter day. It tracks like a tank on any surface. I love the thing. In conclusion... Subaru. There is no other.
  18. Okay...a new pump is in store for the ole waggy. I hope it won't go on me until I can get my hands on one, though. It's been doing this for two weeks and I neglected to do anything... (That's okay...I've got my eye on another sweet rig...If the '82 goes capoot, maybe I'll just pick it up sooner than planned.)
